As I was tinting my eyebrows I came to wonder am I the only person who does things like this at home?

I tint my eyebrows and lashes, shape and pluck. I dye my hair, do my own nails, wax etc.

There's two reasons for this one is when I realised how cheap and easy it is I stopped. Then I realised its soooo much easier to do it at home. I've never been one of those people that finds a day at the hairdressers relaxing. And working out costs it's definitely cheaper. For
Me to have my eyebrows tinted, waxed (I pluck), shaped, eye lashes tinted I'm looking at anywhere from 35-50 dollars. Yet I have the colours and peroxide which last for at least 15-20 applications for less than $30. That's a huge saving. Same goes for hair dye. I spend about $10 every 4 weeks. I used to spend $150-$180 every 6 weeks and my haircuts (which I get every 6-8 weeks) is $35. I am even contemplating buying the colour and peroxide for my hair instead of buying the single use boxes as this will save me again. And I won't have to remember to go buy it (I used to do this years ago before kids).

So am I the only one?

Rouge!! You are my guru ha ha! I am about to start tinting and waxing my own brows, and waxing my legs. For two reasons, to save money and for convenience.
Is it really straight forward? Do you have any tips for a newbie??
Which brands and products do you use? I've got Nair leg wax strips, Refectocil tint and Nads eyebrow wax pen thingo.

how strange. today i was thinking i really want to get my brows & lashes tinted. i have caramel brown hair & always dye black, i have always hated that my lashes & brows don't match. never even thought of doing that at home :lol: i'm intrigued!

i dye my own hair, pluck my brows & removal cream for my lip @ home just for convenience & saving money too!

Yay!!!! its soooooo easy! i promise. Warch a few youtube tutorials so you can familiarise yourself with the steps. For tinting I use a brown eyebrow tint. And I use 2cm colour paste to 5 drops of 6% peroxide (because I have a 2 litre bottle leftover from. Years ago). The peroxide that is normally recommended is 3% in case it gets in your eyes. So I use 3% peroxide on my eyelashes for safety reasons, I use blue black for lashes. When doing the lashes I cover around my eye with Vaseline. I then cut out eye papers out of paper towel and stick it under the eye on the Vaseline. This allows you to paint the lashes. I do one eye at a time. Never at the same time. So it takes about 15 mins in total. Just be sure to close both eyes when waiting for the tint to set. Informally lie on my bed. I use a damp makeup cotton pad to remove the colour wiping the lashes down. Never use a soaked pad you will end up getting it in your eyes and it stings. It's really really easy! Once you've done it a few times you'll be a pro. You can get the colour tubes and peroxide from hair warehouse. Oh and instead of using a brush I use a cotton tip which I take the cotton off. I mix in a shot glass.

For waxing I use the nair stuff that is for sensitive areas. You don't need strips and nuke it the microwave. I never wax my legs because im lazy and I shave. I do sometimes wax under my arms. And wax my eyebrows. But most of the time I pluck now.

I tint my own brows, it's great! Accentuates the eyes and adds definition to the face. I tiny my lashes for special occasions. The trick for me is not to read or look at a tv/computer screen or focus too heavily on anything while the dye is on or it can make my eyes water or blink which makes the dye hurt the eyes.

I have my hair professionally coloured but I have a friend that does her own balayage and everything.

I do my own nails and facials but I do get my bikini waxed.

I do everything myself but I am a beauty therapist!!
There are lots you can do yourself I tell people to have their brows shaped properly every few months then tweeze to maintain. If you find a great eye brow waxer that can shape properly of course!
Tinting is very easy just don't leave your brow tint on too long until you know your own brows, some like mine take very fast and you definitely don't want to look like a big dark pair of brows entering a room :). And always pop some Vaseline around your skin as tint stains skin :)

I used to dye my own hair but then I decided to go natural.
I prefer getting a professional to do the rest while I sit back and relax (as much as one can relax whilst getting hair torn out by the roots lol).

I am a great big sooky lala. There is no way I can wax myself. I've tried and it was a disaster. So i spend $140 every 5-6 weeks, which is a lot. I used to spend $50 a month just for eyebrow shaping & tinting and it was good but I can't afford it.

I occasionally give myself a pedicure. I could use a facial and dont mind doing that myself, but dont know what/how etc.

I will start doing this myself soon. I currently do my own hair dye and my hair removal (except for eyebrows - I get those threaded).

I'm also one who used to dye my own hair but then just let it grow out natural. I used to get my eyebrows shaped but don't bother with that anymore because of the cost and hassle, maybe I should check out doing it myself. I do cut my own hair though, sometimes I get somebody (DP or my mum) to go over the back to make sure it is not completely jagged but I do it all in the "rough look" so that it doesn't have to be perfect. I tell myself it totally works lol.

I've had my hair coloured a few times at the hairdresser and usually felt it was a complete waste of money. So now I do it at home. Rouge, you said something about buying the colour instead instead of the single use boxes. Could you tell me more about that? I have shortish, fine hair so I never need the full amount even in the single use box.

I plucked my own eyebrows a few weeks ago for the very first time (had always been au natural until then) - I was incredibly proud of myself. I had a brief flirtation with the Nairs eyebrow wand, did one side and decided waxing wasn't for me :)

I do. I don't dye my own hair anymore, because I want to go natural, but I wax my own brows, do my bikini line (although I've started having brazilians and I get those done professionally), do my own facials, pedis etc. I used to wax my own legs and underarms, but these days shaving or epilating is easier. My main motivator was nobody was doing my eyebrows especially the way I wanted them. My mum did (ex beauty therapist) but it was annoying having to wait for her to do it. I love it. Like you Rouge, I watch loads of YouTube tutes too.

Oh yeah PZ same here with eyebrows. I am the only one that can do it the way I like it.

Fionas go to a place (like hair house thingo) and get them to show you what you need. I'm lucky because my hair is blue black so I don't have to play with getting my hair lighter. So if you need to go lighter they'll help you with mixes and measurements.

They always told me I wanted them too thin, they wouldn't look good etc etc. Whatevs, I fill them in anyway. I love doing my own brows.

For me these are my luxuries. I love going and chatting with my waxer and tinter. She is a perfectionist and works out of home, knows exactly how I like my brows (still there and natural without wild looking). We barely take a breath talking while she works her magic.

I love the whole salon treatment with my hair and chatting. It's an outing all about me for once...I love it.

Have never had eyebrows professionally waxed always done it myself, either waxed or plucked. Often dye my own hair and used to buy the colours and peroxide in bulk from hairhouse warehouse as it makes it much cheaper.
