Are they worth the money?
My $30 straightener decided it didn't want to be a straightener anymore. Used it daily, had it about two years. Worked fine. I'm using mum's old one at the moment and it's rubbish. Don't know if it's worth buying a ghd or getting another cheapie.

I wanted a ghd but it was out of my price bracket so ended up with a VS Sassoon digital 235. Love it, straight hair in minutes and temperature control. Not sure how it will hold up long term but for the moment I can't fault it. (Still have GHD envy though)

But I also got a really swish blow dryer at the same time and I love that even more than the GHD. It's a professional one. Makes so much difference.
Can I ask which swish/fancy hair dryer you have? I think I would use one more than my GHD... I do love my GHD though I got the bright red one!
See I have a good hair dryer that I don't use. Usually wash my hair at night, let it dry overnight and straighten in the morning.
So what is it about the ghd that makes it worth it? I'm assuming it's quick to get hot and straighten? My hair is above my shoulders, wavy and thick. With the one I had , I could have it straight properly in about 10 minutes but by the end of the day, it wasn't holding anymore (but that's probably the lack of product rather than the straightener.)
I love my GHD..... But I would prefer one with a temp control.
PRMG- is there any chance your hair is still damp, when you straighten it?

Emma - No chance. Straighten it daily. Wash it 1-2 times a week. Just stubborn hair :lol:

I've had GHDs for about 10 years and they're still going strong. I really love them, but having had a play with Cloud 9s if I was buying new ones I'd go that way rather than the GHDs. The GHDs are VERY hot, whereas the Cloud 9s are temperature adjustable - DD 1 occasionally will ask for ringlets or something but I'm really reluctant to use the excessive heat of the GHDs on her ultra fine hair. I think they're about the same price too.

Pak I find (with the thick curly mop I have) That a decent blowdry makes the straightening last soooo much longer.
I agree though. A temp control would be awesome.

Absolutely worth every cent. My DD1 loved mine so much that she saved up and bought her own with her pay from her first job. It was the first thing she bought herself.
all my life i had $20-$30 straighteners. i was so sick of it going all frizzy by the end of the day. so i decided to do A LOT of research into what one to buy.
i went with Cloud 9, they're honestly amazing. GHD owns Cloud 9, better technology too. has heat control & the plates make your hair really soft & shiny. i've had mine for 3 years. TOTALLY worth every cent. i think it cost $270-$300 :)
