Over reading into things?

Ok, I've only just announced my BFP about 10 minutes ago, but I've been dying to post in here without people wondering!
My cramps are varying in pain... Sometimes they're REALLY strong and sometimes they're really mild.. Is that a bad thing or is it normal?
Also, I can't stop sneezing and coughing with any smell around... What the?!

Ok, HOPEFULLY that's all I'm going to ask for now!

MIL and DH keep saying it's too early to go to the doctor... It's not is it? I thought as soon as you got even a faint BFP you should go to the doctors

Cramps are a great sign that your uterus is stretching to make room for your bub! So yep, very normal.

Sounds like you have an aversion to strong smells too, all very normal. Congrats!

Thanks Trish.. I was just worried that some of the cramps are hurting lots and lots and some of the cramps are only mild where I don't mind.
It's the first time I've ever known this early, so it's a little worrying for me.

Liz I went to the doc's before AF was due, and brought my HPT+'s with me. He was a bit shocked to see me so early but gave me the BT's anyway. My cramps hung around for about 2 weeks. I am just so stoked to see you in here. It really has made my day (and yesterday, and the day before LOL). Enjoy it babe!

hey hun im still cramping at 4weeks 2 days i remember being crampy with DD at 6weeks
I'm smelling EVERYTHING!! i think its pregnancy related, i dont like it, DF smells funky when he comes home from work, never noticed till a few days ago hahaha

Oscar - Thanks, I think that's what I'm going to do myself. I wanna go to the doctors but at the same time, I don't because EVERYONE wants me to wait another 2 weeks!

I didn't go to the Doc's until maybe 6-8 weeks and then it was for blood tests, not confirmation. I never had BFP confirmed by Doc, they said home test was fine. But saying that, do what ever you want. The Dr will tell you what needs to be done and when, which I find helpful as I forget each time! I would however book into the hospital of your choice now. I booked in last two times before 4 weeks!!

From what I understand LJ most people go straight to the Dr after a BFP to confirm the HPT by blood test and get a beta level - plus a barrage of info!
I found out I was UTD at the Dr's cos I have PCOS and thought the constant cramping and no AF showing up was another $%@$%**& PCOS symptom - turns out it was classic early pregnancy! :lol:

I was about to say, definitely book into your hospital now! I booked in straight away with each of my pregnancies, I didn't want to risk getting knocked back. If you are going public, you'll need to go to your GP for a referral.

There is nothing wrong with going to the doc early. Sometimes the doc looks like they don't know what to do with you because they aren't always used to it, but go when you want to go. Use it as an oppertunity to ask them about what sort of care and testing is available to you - and don't let them fob you off with "there will be plenty of time for that later". the earlier you start collecting information relevant to your local area, the more time you have to consider all your options properly. some area's you need to book into hospital's nearly as soon as you find out you're pg. Other's (like canberra where I live) the hospitals won't book you in until you are further along, and the midwife program, doesn't see anyone until they are at least 16weeks (I will be nearly 18weeks, when I finally see them).

Your doc may or may not confirm your pg with either a urine or blood test. they may or may not take your weight and blood pressure. they may or may not give you referrals for standard blood work-ups and u/s. I always go in prepared to ask for these things, if that is what I want. I have had doc's tell me before that there was no point giving me a referral for the nuchal translucency u/s that early, that I had heaps of time. But I know from experience that it can sometime be hard to book into the u/s place, so it is best done early. Also this time round, the first doc I saw, I really didn't like; and the u/s place he referred me to was going to cast $100 more then the one I ended up going to (after getting a referral from another doc).

I'm getting really peeved off because I've not stopped sneezing. I went and had a little sleep before having to go to work tonight and as soon as I woke up, I was sneezing again! ARGH!
I do, however, have a doctors appt for next Friday (the 13th... what a day!)

LJ my birthday this year falls on a friday the 13th, it really is a good day ;) I think the sneezing is just increased sensitivity to pollens. Do you have any flowers inside the house? I can remember when I was early pg with Sarah I could smell citrus when I got to work. At lunch time one of the guys had a mandarin and I said I KNEW someone had some citrus!! I could smell it before!!

The earlier the better for going to the Dr hun, If you want to go birth centre they book out really quickly. I called my BC the day I got my BFP and asked if I could go on the waiting list and which doctors they recommend for the referral because we were new to town. The earlier you can get booked in the more chances you have of getting a place considering BC are so popular.

Sneezes are an interesting side effect!! Major weirdness going on there - not "worrying" weirdness, just funny weirdness. Cracks me up what happens to women in pg!!

I had cramps too, but like Trish said, your baby has to fit in there somehow, so it starts to stretch.

The really good cramps come after you've had the baby and start BF - woah, Nelly!! The uterus shrinking is a heck of a lot less fun!! Well, that was for me anyway.

So nice to see you posting in here. The varying cramps are perfectly normal don't worry about them. Go to the doc as soon as you feel comfortable. There is no need to wait.

Congratulations. I wish you a happy, healthy & uneventful pregnancy. Stop stressing about every little thing. Just enjoy your pregnancy because before you know it, it will be over and done with & you will wish you'd spent more time enjoying it.

I too had sneezing which I found quite funny... Think it stopped at around 10 weeks, so stock up on some tissues!

I'd go to the doctors as soon as you can, especially if you are thinking you want to go private. In Melbourne (not sure about elsewhere) a lot of the good OB's and hospitals are fully booked as soon as 6 weeks, so you want to get a referral as soon as you can and lock in your place.

I went to my GP a few days after we found out at 5 weeks. She didn't do any tests (not even a blood test), just gave me info on how to look after myself and the referral to the OB. At the time I wondered why she was doing the bloods, but in hindsight I have seen so many women stress over their hormone levels in the early weeks that I am glad I didn't have them... After all, what will be, will be...

LJ - Congrats hun again. I went to the DR's as soon as I had a positive HPT with all of my pgcys. The sooner the DR's know the better , just my opinion. I dont think it is really ever too early. If you want as well they can even get you prepared for any early u/s you may want to do, such as a dating scan to check your dates. It is entirely up to you, and remember it is your body hunni. All your symptoms are wonderful hun. Enjoy your pgcy. hugs

thanks everyone. Only a quick message from me because i'm on my phone. Cramps seem to be coming and going, but not as intense as before. Af due yesterday and she didn't show, so that's a good sign. Getting a weird feeling on my rhs of my tummy, like a pulling sensation. Still sneezing, and also getting stitch like cramps under my rhs of my ribs... Things that are normal i'm guessing

Congrats on the pregnancy! and all your symptoms sound perfectly normal. I'm now at 18 weeks and still get the occasional cramps, lots of sneezing (which then causes cramps) and my nose stuffs up in the evening every evening!

My Dr and midwife said the cramps are fine and normal as long as there is no bleeding with them.
