Ah girls, once you are there you won't even think about it being a VBAC. I was just busy having my baby and it only occured to me while I was pushing that I was actually going to achieve my VBAC after all the stress and worry.
They are fairly standard conditions that your ob has given you. I was monitored continuously. It didn't really worry me; I could still walk around near the bed but no shower. :( I also had a canula inserted, again didn't worry me as I could still move my wrist and elbow freely.
I was given the same ideal time frame of 1cm/hour, and that did worry me as a first labour. I would highly recommend acupuncture as labour preparation. It is supposed to make your uterus workmore efficiently and also gives you a drug free induction option if you go post dates. I didn't start until 37 weeks, but I swear it made a difference. I went in to hospital after about 4 hours as by then the contractions were already 5 mins apart and getting stronger. I was 4cm when I got to hospital and was holding my baby 5 1/2 hours later. Give it a go.
Re induction, they can do a S & S if your cervix is favourable, and an ARM if they 'need' to speed you up a bit during labour. Generally drugs are a no no as they are linked with a higher incidence of uterine rupture. There is also a balloon catheter? My ob never mentioned it but I have read about it on here.
Other than that I would say stay as active as you can and try not to stress. Oh and make sure you have until 42 weeks; stressing about a deadline for spontaneous labour is likely to keep baby in there longer.
