Pre labour??
Hey everyone,
Just have a quickish question! I am 35 weeks with my 2nd (so you'd think I would have half a clue  ) and yesterday had a teeny tiny bit of bleeding. It wasn't even a 5c piece worth but it was still there... was darker in colour but when I wiped when I went to the loo there was a small bright red bit of blood (now I'm talking tiny here). The past few days I have had lower back pain which bites in a little and the other night it happened for over an hour. I have been getting horrible shooting pains today around my hips which radiates through to my back. They only last for 2-3 seconds and then go away. There is no pattern to them but they stop me in my tracks when they happen. I'm getting at least 10 of these an hour. I have been resting for the better part of the day and really have done nothing strenuous. No DTD has happened in this house either for the past week either.
So what are your thoughts on this?!
TIA :D

hi
Im no expert but i would say that it sounds like your cervix is softening up and starting to dilate :)
Bubs could be moving down to cause the pain your having, if your concerned at all though it doesnt hurt to have it all checked.
-
Are you sure the bleeding came from your vagina and not haemorroids? The shooting pain in your hips could be bubba getting comfy and starting to descend. The joy of end of pregnancy. Or they could be pre-labour. Our bodies do weird and wonderful things that definitely keep us guessing.
-
Um.. Dan.. well I "may" have had a little look down there to see where it came from  and I have no horrible hems as far as I (eye) can see
Ugh.. still getting the shooting pains and now it's more crampy. Fun, fun, fun!!
-
good on you for looking!! It's so important to be comfortable enough to be able to look. YAY for you!
On the other sorry but not sure. If you get anymore bleeding I'd probably give the hospital a call. Just to be safe.
-
Dan- I'm not scared of looking. Would rather look myself and see if I can see what is happening rather than a stranger!
It's all too hard trying to figure out what is going on  It's still happening but no more bleeding. Maybe I'll take some panadol and see how I go and if it settles down.
-
Hope it all settles down for you darl.
-
Still happening... not as often as before but equally as painful and annoying.
Will wait and see what the night brings I guess...
-
Oh D, I hope nothing exciting happens overnight! Take your panadol, rest up, and hope like hell that bub hangs in there a bit longer.
Mind you, for all that it's hard work and stressful having a bub at 35 weeks, the baby will be fine!!! :D Good luck hun, check in with us in the morning ;)
-
 Where's your book? ;)
I can definately say I am not ready for this little bubba to come out yet and praying that this is just my body preparing for a few weeks time (even though it's doing my head in!!!)
Sure will check in, in the morning. Might re-read my Calmbirth stuff and relax myself :)
-
Calmbirth stuff sounds like a good idea :)
I know, I'm hopeless  was on MSN and then thought I'd better check out what's going on here LOL. Off to get my book now!
-
Still here and the same thing is still going on
The pains get worse every now and then and I can't talk while they're happening but then they will die down.
Imagine 4-6 more weeks of this... arghh!!
-
It might not be quite that long hun, I think you will go earlier than you think ;). Hang in there
-
Oooh, D, that sounds like prelabour contrax to me. With my labour with Phoebe I was getting pains radiating down my legs, and my contractions were much shorter and more efficient.
I'd keep cramming on that calmbirthing stuff if I were you. I don't think you'll be waiting as long as 5 weeks either.
-
I hope you gorgeous girls are right! DH and my family keep saying that I won't last the distance but I can't help but think I will go over now everyone has said that
Nothing else to do but play the waiting game and twiddle my thumbs I guess

 Feeling so yuck today. Off my food and feel quite nauseous... have been to the loo for #2's twice today and generally just feeling blergh. Had a HUGE nesting urge this morning so have been going crazy with cleaning but suprisingly still have a fair bit of energy and feeling unwell isn't stopping me!
Night seems to make my pains start up and god they hurt. Last night was terrible but I was still able to sleep thank goodness! *whinge, whinge, whinge*
-
Oshani - I hope you feel better soon
-
Hmmm i had this kind of thing when i was 38 weeeks at lasted for a week and then out popped miss bella at 39 weeks :)
GL
-
I think you're getting close ;)
-
My body definately had a clean out tonight and I felt exactly the same as last time. Within a few days of that happening my waters broke. I told DH that I "think" it will happen this week sometime BUT am laying bets for a timeframe of 2 weeks  I won't be disheartened if it doesn't happen by then but with all that's going on I'll be suprised if it doesn't.
-
Ugh.. after a night of barely any sleep and being awake from 3.30am because I was so restless and not able to sleep at all :( I moved to the couch and watched TV for a while. I've dropped a fair bit over night and threw up just before and am still not feeling like eating. Joy!!
-
 Sounds like things are definitely happening for you :)
-
Still getting those pains this morning?
-
sounds like things are close for you!!!
-
Keep us updated D!!!!! I'm feeling very excited for you :D
-
Hey!
Still not feeling like eating too much.. have forced myself to eat a bit though. I'm praying if something does happen that is doesn't happen until tomorrow night because DH is going in for a colonoscopy tomorrow so he won't be much use to me today/tonight
Baby has been fairly quiet today and had some horrible pinching back pain before. I hate not knowing
-
I'm laying my bets on this week! Hope it's a great birth :)
-
Still a fair few ouchy niggles in my back and also pain in my front down low... crampy like period pains. Not sure whether to call family or not yet... we live 3-4 hours away from them and I need someone to come up and take care of Oscar. I just stress that it "could" all happen quickly and then noone will be here but then I think this could still go on for a while and then they would drive here for no reason.
Think I might take some Panadol and see if the back pain dies down.. I doubt it will and think I am in denial that my body is starting to do this  MW's appt tomorrow afternoon will be interesting!
-
Hun, given where you're at with family stuff ATM, I would inclined to take some panadol and have a lie down. Or even a shower or bath if you can manage it. I hope you can hang in there until tomorrow night!
And you know, I wouldn't feel bad about getting your family up there if things don't progress, better than the alternative ;) I have a feeling that your labour isn't going to take all day night :)
-
Just taken some Panadol and resting on the couch. Not long picked Oscar up from daycare and his gorgeous carer (we do FDC) said that we can call her in the middle of the night if need be or drop him off during the day if we're stuck. So that makes me feel better to know Oscar can be with someone he knows if we have to rush. Off to lay down a little more and chill out :)
-
all the best hun xxx sounds like things will be happening very soon
rest up as much as you can ( i know easier said then done lol)
will be thinking of you :)
-
That is fantastic hun, sounds like a plan! Now you can relax ;)
-
Well things have come to halt!!
Woke up this morning feeling great and have loads of energy. So very confused  I just did the vacuuming and mopping and am feeling a little crampy again in the front and back but not sure if that is because I was slightly bent over while doing it. Anyway.. off to see the MW's this arvo, doubt she will be able to tell me much though!
-
oooh i was sure it was happening for you. that is so great about your fdc lady, a weight off your mind...
let us know how the MW appt goes.
-
Things seem to happen at night mainly here. Having tightenings again and slight back pain and cramping. Tummy is a little tender too which is wierd. Anyway... MW just said that baby is fully engaged and that she would be suprised if I turned up to my appt next week. Trying not to get my hopes up but it's a little hard not to
As much as I can't wait to meet this little bubba I will miss being pg :(
-
Argh! Just typed a longish post and lost it all!!
Anyway.. the past few days have been ok. Feeling "heavier" down below as each day passes. Still having cramping/back pain etc. Yesterday things picked up a bit and were a bit more ouchy.. around 7ish last night I had BH cx coming every 20-30 mins which were ok. A little uncomfy but not too bad. Went to bed and DTD and pretty much straight away started having cx. They were 3-4 mins apart and I had pain in my lower back which was radiating out from the middle. This went over for over 2 hours and was very uncomfortable and I was feeling a lot of pressure downstairs. I tried to go to the toilet but no luck there so headed to bed after having some Panadol to see if that would help and also grabbed my heat pack. I fell asleep after about an hour and woke up this morning feeling ok. Now having irregular BH cx but still having around 5 every hour. Feeling quite crampy at times and the pain in my back is a little ouchy too but overall feeling pretty good.
I have done a tidy of the house and got everything in order (well as much as I can) and am now sitting back and waiting! I wonder what tonight will bring!
-
More DTD with any luck  I think it won't be too long for you hun, both before your labour starts, and the labour itself ;). Thanks for the update!!! Is someone doing a BA for you? Or should I ask Tan to let me know?
-
 at the DTD tonight.
There most likely won't be a BA but feel free to ask Tan (I'll text her) and I'll have it on FB though ;)
-
Ah sigh. I wanna dtd to get baby moving... but DH is "not sick" and thus not dying loudly in the lounge room (when he isnt snoring).
I hate man flu as much as I hate pre-labour. :( I am the one that was up every 5-7 minutes with contractions, he is the one sleeping on the lounge.
Hoping you get it over with soon Oshani. I really do know how you feel.
