when did your little ones get into barbie?? after talking to a gorgeous BB member yesterday ive been thinking of getting DD1 some for birthday (3rd birthday) or christmas
I got my frst Barbie when I was three (I have boys so Barbies aren't an option for them as far as DH is concerned LOL!). I was a HUGE fan and by the time I was 12 I had almost every Barbie gadget under the sun plus at least 20 assorted dolls. I can say for myself that Barbie in no way made me feel inadequate, pressured to be thin or wear pink!
I can't remember a time during my childhood when we didn't have a barbie! I still have them up in a box at mums... with a bajillion clothes and assorted accessories.
Give it 4 years and they'd be almost vintage XD
My dd got barbies for her 2nd birthday, and she loves them! we also has a Ken doll.. i found that has helped her decipher 'boy' and 'girl' she seems to understand ken is daddy, and the barbie is mummy (LOL.. ah well, i cant complain can i! )
i think your dd would love barbies at 3!
DD got her first barbie at 2 and she still loves them!! Plays with them every day. So far I've only given her the princess ones and not the fashion ones.
I think DD1 was about 2 1/2 when she got her first one. She still enjoys them and is having a Barbie party for her 4th this year. They have been trashed a bit, she has drawn on some and struggles to keep track of all the accessories which drives me a bit batty, but she does love them.
My dd just discoverd Barbie  She is 2.5 and has been getting Barbie-pills (Vitamins with Barbie picture on the front) for about 4 months now, but my mom got some old Barbies from a gf and now if we take a bath at gran's house, Barbie's hair get washed everytime. It's so cute. " Come Barbie, sit still, close your eyes ... here comes the water .... goooooood girl" Sounds oh so familiar
DS found a couple of my Barbies the other day. He wasn't allowed to play with the fashion doll with my name (Seriously! I found a fashion doll with almost my first two names! I had to buy it and keep the box!) but the two Barbies he loves. He has a shoe fetish and just adores pairing up the Barbie shoes and switching the shoes over and picking the right shoes and bag to match the dress the Barbie is wearing...
I have to get some more Barbie outfits, shoes and bags I think. I have 2 formal dresses, 2 normal dresses, 3 tops, a skirt and 2 pairs of shorts, 4 pairs of shoes and 2 bags. And a bikini. We need more, those poor Barbies! And a very fashionable outfit on the Rosehi Fairy doll (Seriously! Only one letter missing from the end of my first name! I am a fashion doll! I rock!)
DD1 hasn't discovered them yet at 3.5 so she might get them for her 4th birthday
DD got her first barbie for her 2nd birthday I think... or maybe it was the christmas post her 2nd birthday... or maybe it was 3... I dunno but I don't think it really matters. If you want to get them go for your life :)
My girls were into Barbie from about 3.
My DD is just getting into Barbie, she is 3 in a couple of days. She is getting a couple of Barbies for her birthday, and loves the movie barbie Island princess.
thanks for the replies!! thinking we might get her some for birthday/christmas!!
Chase picked a barbie out as his toy when he was 2 lol And yes he's a boy :P
Oh, I can't for the life of me remember - DD1's birthday is in OCt, so it could have been her 2nd birthday, or that Christmas when she got her first one. DD2 was a bit younger as they were already in the house. We have TOO MUCH stuff so there is a moratorium on buying any new barbie stuff PMSL. If you want to get her some go for it, but just remember that all the tiny accessories are just the right size for babies mouths - I have had to fish endless shoes and handbags out of Alisters mouth.
Hide the shoes. Nothing worse than a crying girl in the middle of the night as she has taken her barbie to bed and lost one of the shoes. So they are so hard to find in the dark when you are tired.
oh i hate the shoes as well! so small and easy to lose!
i forot to mention, mum kept all my barbies, and clothes! she used to knit some gorgeous barbie clothes for me. i was so happy when she pulled out the barbies that she'd kept all those years!
was I the gorgeous member talking to you about it? :)
Ash just loves dressing them, undressing them and the shoes esp and the bags.
you sure were shell!!!
ive made a mental note to avoid anything with lots of small parts/accessories!!
I keep all the clothes and small parts in a bag and when she is done playing I put them all away up high cause won't be long til our bubba's are crawling!
thats what worries me
