What do you think of Frank Kevin surname Gardener. Would the little boy sound like an old man... or is it a kind of cute name? DH liked Francis but I think of that as a girls name. Kevin is DH's dads name who has passed away. I also like strong sounding names.
DH does not like any of the boy names I have suggested and it does not help he has 500000 cousins that have taken every other name!!
I like Franklin but I'm not a huge fan of Frank. What about Francoise? Franz, Franco?
You could have Frank as a nick-name for any of them.
I'm a fan of older style names, but I must admitt that one doesn't really do it for me. Though having said that I like Frankie, & then could be Frank when older. I like Bobby atm, can be Bob when older.
I personally wouldn't choose Frank but I like it. It sounds strong and bubs will probably get Frankie when he's little, then Frank as he gets older. Francis sounds like a nuns name to me,like Sister Francis ?? Not really a boy sounding name to me, sorry ?

I know a guy called Franklin. He gets called Frank, and there is nothing 'old-manish' about him.
Now this will date me, but didn't Alex Papps on Home &Away play a character called Frank? Now, he was a bit of a sex symbol at the time, def. not 'old-manish'.

I too initially did not like Frank and when I tell people they politely hesitate and then suggest something else... maybe it is a sign I must look for something else. I was thinking Francesco or Franco and even Francios but worry about people pronouncing it wrong or not getting their tongue around the name.
Maybe we'll have a girl and won't have to worry with a boys name this time round. I did dream I had a girl shortly after my miscarriage and in my dream I called Lucia Mary which is a name we both love! So maybe my future baby girl was sending me a message!!!

Can I just say, that although I personally wouldnt choose Frank for a name, if you love that name and your hubby loves that name, then you should use it. Dont let what others think dictate the name you choose.
It does sound old, but there is nothing wrong with it. I know many young girls being called Olivia, Lily and Mabel now and they are from around the same era.
If you love the name, go for it! I used to work with a guy my age called Franco so its not necessarily an old man name(I'm 25 now). However, I do tend to associate the name with an older man anyway.
I like Francesco, you can call him Frankie as a little fella and buy him the T'shirt that goes "Frankie says Relax"....ooh I need a cup of tea :redface:
My Dad's name is Frank and he hates it... and he is an old man. My Mum is always telling him what a horrible name it is. :lol: He's a 3rd generation Frank and Mum was supposed to name my eldest brother Frank too, but she said when the time came, she just couldn't do it, so used it as his middle name.
I personally don't like it, but you have to choose a name you're happy with. Good luck!
I have a friend named Francis but everyone calls him Frank and it really suits him. I met him when we were 19/20 years old and it never occurred to me that it was an old mans name. We jokingly call him Frankenfurter or Franky or Francois.
My DH is all for names that will suit the child when they are older. We agreed on a girls name but now he thinks it is a young girls name and not an older "business" woman type name. He usually puts Prime Minister in front of the name to see if it sounds right :rolleyes:
Hmm, I just can't imagine looking at a beautiful newborn baby boy and naming him Frank. I do have a great uncle Frank (full name Frances). But I suppose Frankie sounds kinda cute for a little boy.
Personally I don't like the name Frank but if you like it I say go for it.
FWIW I dated a Francois when I was a teenager and he was so yummy (I still have his photo :lol:) I have never known another some 15+ years on.

all I can think of is my uncle Frank :) Sorry! But I do love Frankie! I know a few kids called Frankie and some are girls very cute :)

I do like Francis/Frances for a boy... it reminds me of the eldest son on Malcolm in the middle :)
Just remember a baby isnt a baby forever, so you need to choose a name that will suit them throughout their lives :)
I am a teacher and I have seen many many names- one year I tought 2 Franks in the same class, one was Frank and the other we called Frankie- they were both just the MOST adorable little boys, so for me, it doesnt sound like an old name, it just makes me think of these 2 boys.
I don't mind it but I would call him Franklin (not keen on the other suggestions) with Frank as a nickname.
I'm not so keen on Frank.... Wasn't that the character in that English show "Some mothers do have em'?
But hey! You are the one that has to say it possibly a 100,000 times in your life, so if you love it - go for it!!
I have an Uncle Frank (his name is actually Francis but her prefers Frank) ... i'm personally not a fan of the name Frank but some the other members suggestions sound like a great alternative :D
