Is it true that having MS can indicate a boy?

Hi all,

This is my 4th Pregnancy and I am a 29 year old married mum of 3 girls so I don't know much about boys I'm afraid!!

I feel as though I am experiencing my first pregnancy as it has been 4 years since I was pregnant last and when you think that your pregnancy days are over you forget a lot!!

I hear a lot of people comparing their pregnancies.... whether they had morning sickness or not and if they carried girls they didn't have morning sickness and if they carried boys they did????

Now I seem to recall having the odd vomit once or twice with my girls but nothing like what I am experiencing now...I simply cannot even contemplate eating or looking at food now without a wave of nausea rushing over me. I am 12 weeks this coming week and have had this for the past 2-3 weeks and am really really tired ( Another thing that I cannot remember, oh and have tender breasts to which I did not have with the girls)

So basically what I am wanting to know is there anything it these stories that I hear or is it simply a wives tale, so far my 3 pregnancies have felt pretty much the same except my 3rd as she was posterior. And I feel completely different this time round....anyone have any stories or suggestions for me, I would love to hear them as I am not finding out the sex until the 18 week scan (Another 6 weeks away!)

Hmmm I had more intense ms with DS (week 5-14 = hideous vomitting - lost over 10kg, mostly went away and then reared again at around 32 wks)

DD - mainly nausea ALL Day and maybe throw up once a day but went on for the entire pregnancy.

???? I don't think that helps at all :-) Good luck with the research

I have 3 boys and the only MS I got with those pregnancies was very mild nausea in the first few weeks.. While pregnant with my DD I actually threw up for the first time

while you may not mind what you have... I will send you some blue vibes ;) Boys are pretty awesome

I had 2 girls with no MS and had it with DS ! Although I only vomited once I felt really nauseous 24 hrs a day for weeks.
I have found having a boy after 2 girls a wild ride but great fun!

If morning sickness = boy and no morning sickness = girl, then I'm a boy and my son is a girl.

Looking at that, I'd say there's no truth in that rumour.

Also, Mum's pregnancies with me and my sister were very different, so you can't really go on that. Unless I am really a boy in disguise... very good disguise given how well it has fooled the world to date.

I had shocking ms with DD1 and no ms with DD2.

Nup, I had disgusting all-day sickness, and a girl.

I had m/s with both my boy pregnancies and none with this one which is a girl. My mum and sister also had m/s with boys and none with girls, weird! Maybe some of us react to the different hormones in a certain way?

That being said, my SIL has two girls and was sick 24/7 throughout her entire pregnancies with them, the poor thing.

WOw all pregnancies are so different aren't they?

DD1 I had all day sickness & vomitting until around 23 weeks. I lost 7kg in the first trimester.

DD2 I had 1 week of nausea and I think I only vomited once.

I had m/s with all 4 of my pgs and found it got worse with each one :(

Pg #1 Was horrid, bad MS from week 6-22 - Girl
Pg #2 Not as bad, but bad enough, MS from week 9-17 - Girl
Pg #3 slight nausea for first 13 weeks, no vomitting - Boy

I had absolutely no morning sickness and had a boy. My best friend also had no m/s and she had a boy also. :dunno:

I had severe MS with DD for 14weeks. She is a bit of a tomboy though =)

Yep, MS can be a sign of having a boy. It can be a sign of having a girl too ;)

Tash - I found with each pregnancy, the MS got progressively worse each time, with this time being the worst. Thankfully it didn't last too long. This baby is a girl too, so I don't think there is a lot of truth to that theory! Maybe like me your MS is worse this time because it is your fourth pg? Sending you lots of blue vibes though!

I've got 2 boys and I had awful MS with DS1 and none at all with DS2.

I had a girl and had terrible MS everyday for 16weeks,

with dd i was lucky enough to have had no m/s at all.....

:rolleyes:all day sickness HORID ACTUALLY with all 4 pg and i have 4 girls.
this pg very sick but no as bad and i get the odd day off from spewing soooooooooo who knows i never got a break with the girls lol..

I had nothing with my DS, full of energy too and the days flew by.... This time round though... OMG!!! As soon as I wake up in the morning, I felt a wave come over me and was sick from then until I fell asleep at night even woke up occaisionally during the night to have a spew! (thankfully gone now though) Tired all day and sleeping whenever I sit still for more than a few minutes, and the sore boobies are so intence. Completely different this time round... Don't know what I'm having YET but I really hope it's a girl!
I just put the difference down to being alot older this pregnancy considering there will be 14years between my DS and this baby by the time he/she is born. But still hoping the difference in symptoms means it's a girl! maybe my symptoms would have gradually gotten worse if I had more pregnancies in between but I'm still praying it's because it's a girl!!!

Did I mention I'm really hopping for a girl??? :pray:

I had severe ms with my girls, & pretty much none with DS. Everyone is different though, you might me opposite to me.
My pg with the girls were almost exactly the same. DS was completely different.

I had hyperemesis for 40 weeks with both of my pregnancies and I have a girl and a boy. My girl was slightly worse and I was on more drips with her.

I had a girl and had morning sickness every day from 8-15 weeks, triggered by smell and the look of some foods/things.

I had my worst MS with DD, not too bad with DS1 , threw up once or twice with DS2 and nothing at all this time. So for me it's gradually gotten less & less regardless of gender.

I was thinking the same as Trish, that maybe we all react differently to the hormones? It looks like a girl for us this time & my PG overall has been much like DD's - (with the exception of mornign sickness) - the most horrible mood swings ;)

I had no morning sickness at all with DS.
This time around I've had all day sickness with some vomiting from 8 weeks until just last week, we don't know if it's a boy or girl yet, will get back to you on that one :)

I think morning sickness is a good sign that you're pregnant :rofl:

Sorry, I'm just so over all the old wives tales. I seem to cop them daily as everyone is trying to tell me what our bubs is purely by looking at my belly shape, it's position, the size of my bum, the type of food I like, the baby's heart rate, whether I was sick or not...and the list goes on.

From what I've heard (and believe), every pregnany is different and the only sure way to know what you're having is to wait until d-day ;)

Ah tash. I had Hyperemesis with all 6. So chronic vomiting no matter what the gender.

One of my older sisters though just had her 5th boy (also has 3 girls) and has never suffered morning sickness ... Seems I made it up for the both of us anyway, lol.

No morning sickness here whatsoever & I had a boy.

My mum didn't get it in either of her pregnancies & she had a boy & a girl.

I have four boys and with each pregnancy it was worse.
Nothing with number one, slight nausea with number two, nausea and I think I vommited three times with number three and number four was full on all day nausea and vommiting every morning.
So I believe that it is as you get older you tend to suffer more. Good luck on a blue bundle though fingers crossed for you.

I've got only one child so cant compare pregnancies... but I had horendous morning sickness from about 5 weeks till 15 weeks. I was so sick, throwing up several times a day, I couldnt even look at food, and I lost weight. I have a daughter.

I had little to no MS with DS.

I think that it's your body coping with changes in hormones, I don't have clue what I'm having this time, & it's too early for MS to sink in so I really can't say if different sex means ms for me or not.

I have 3 girls too....and just had my 4th....a boy.

If you were to ask my out of my 4 pregnancies, which one would i have thought i was having the different sex, it would have been pregnancy #3 - but she was a girl. I had awful m/s in the first trimester with this pregnancy...

My other 3 pregnancies (including the boy one....) were all pretty much non eventful and very similar.

TBH, i think its a complete wives tale and pure coincidence re: boys and m/s.......

4 boys and no morning sickness...friends with girls seem to have it though!!

I have 2 boys, had M/S with DS1, and none at all with DS2, was soooo sick this time round bedridden for 2 months don't know what it is, I like the surprise.

LOL... I havent read anyone elses reply, but let me tell you...

I vomited 24/7 for the first 4months of my pregnancy, and had a girl! :lol:
