Whats it like going through a pregnancy whilst you have a toddler?
Im not pregnant yet and my youngest son is 13 mths and we are trying now however i have never had two children this close and im quite excited and nervous at the prospect if the gods allow us to fall pregnant quickly.... Im 39yr in September so i need everyones fingers crossed....

It's hard but if your little one is having a day sleep you can rest then ;)
My DS will have just turned 2 when this bub comes. I found the first trimester hard, you forget how tired you get and how run down feeling sick and throwing up can make you. I always felt bad for my DS that I didn't want to do anything. Besides that though it has been great, I do have to remind him to be gentle with mummy though. The best bit is DS keeps me busy so I dont seem to notice the aches and pains, well not until he is in bed anyway lol.
I didn't notice that I was tired as much until I hit .. ohhhh say, 41 weeks? lol
DS went through a real clingy stage though - from about 14 months and I had to carry him absolutely everywhere.
i have a 9yr old plus my dh has two sons 14 and 17 yr old ( they live here but very independant) and then the 13 mth old. I do work however so im not a fulltime SAHM i couldnt do that anyway .....
I had 23 months between DD1 and 2 then a four year gap between DD2 and DD3 then 25 months between DD3 and 4 and 19 months between DD4 and DS. I guess I didn't know any different so I just went with the flow, it can be hard running after them, literally speaking although I had PSD in various degrees with all my pregnancies. You'll be fine, it always amazes me how things just fit together,when it happens you'll be ready and fine and you'll have BB to fall on for advice, good luck!!!

Have a big list of activities to keep the little one happy when you are lying on the couch feeling green. Sticker books, glue sticks and shapes, rice and containers, making musical instruments.
If it's summer during this time, a bucket of water a containers keeps them happy for aaaages.
it's hard. it's really hard.....
i think the best part about it though is that you can sleep when the toddler sleeps........but that all stops when the baby comes along.
TBH i haven't found it that hard...
At the beginning i would have big spewing sessions and DD was big enough to understand mum was sick, she'd often rub my back for me ;)
I get tired, but i simply have a nap every day when she has her nap.
THe only thing i find hard is the visits to the doc, dd absolutely hates them (BORING!! lol), so i always try and organise with my mum to babysit.
so yea... no problems here! guess i'm a lucky one!
Might be changing my attitude when bub is born tho, lol

I was pregnant from the time Darcy was 1and10months until 2 and 10months (long story more than 1 pregnancy), and I found work harder and more tiring than my very very active toddler.
At the end of the day at least she loved me.
I think it depends on the pregnancy.
I was pregnant with DS2 when DS1 was a toddler. I cruised through wasn't too tired, no M/S.
Where as if I'd had a toddler to look after during this pg I couldn't have coped I was just too sick I litterally couldn't get out of bed for the first 9 weeks except to use the toilet.

It depends on the pg and the toddler. This is my second time doing it. I have found the last trimester the hardest both times, because I am soo tired and sore and need a rest, but my toddlers just keep going and going and going. Having said that I haven't found it too bad either time overall. Particularly if you can rest when they do. The biggest thing is that you often don't have time to just appriciate being pg. So often I just completely forget that I have a whole other little person inside waiting to come out.
Also try not to get too much mummy guilt if you need a rest and put a DVD or the TV on for an hour. When they are 10 they are not going to remember the couple of months they got to watch alot of the Wiggles because mum was on the couch having a rest ;) - back it up with a big box of fun stuff like Lulu said - and bring it out ONLY when you are having a rest on the couch etc.
THen, revamp the box when bubs arrives so it has more age appropriate stuff (cos #1 gets bigger and interests change too) for when you are feeding - whether it be bottle or breast hun - special things to play with when bubs having a snack.
Stickers are fantastic, you can get a box of them for like $2 at the reject shop or similar, a 69 cent scrapbook, and they will spend ages just putting them in no particular order into the book - it is gorgeous to watch, and you can still talk about what they are doing whilst having a rest
Good luck. I was working 3 days a week when preg with DD - they were my rest days!!!
I haven't found it too hard. The last few days I've been very sore and its hard to carry ds but overall its been good. I'm already planning the next one ;).
Scout is 16 mths and I am finding the tiredness is really kicking my butt. It doesnt help that he is teething at the moment so is waking two sometimes three times a night!!
He will be almost two by the time this one is born. My first two boys are only 19mths apart but that was many years ago now and I dont really remember what it was like. I was alot younger so I guess that helped but in saying that they are here and I am here so I guess we all survived.
You do it cause you have to. You dont have to enjoy it however. The nausea and tiredness I mean not the actual pregnancy :p
I found it hard in the first tri and in the last couple of weeks. The rest of the time was just fine, but I think I have pretty easy pregnancies. TBH, I'm finding it heaps harder now that bubs is actually here... It has coincided with DD1 developing a charming defiant attitude!
I personally found it very easy.
Made me spend extra time with my litle guy knowing that he will have to share me afterwards.
And when my daughter was born it was great. They are super funny together and i wouldnt change it!

... but i wanted to pop by & say i fell pregnant naturally with my 1st born Bubba when i was 39.5years old. ** So, it's more than possible ** ;)

So far, I'm finding it ok apart from the tiredness. I've been having nanna naps on the couch every afternoon while DS has his nap. My belly hasn't gotten big much yet (only 18 weeks) and so I find I can still lift DS. It's a bit awkward putting him the car atm though, can only imagine it's going to get worse as I get bigger. I'm a bit more worried on how I'll cope when the baby arrives, will have 2 under 2. Hoping this one doesn't want to feed 2 hourly for an hour each time!
I found the second pregnancy reasonably easy - in fact it went much quicker as you are so busy focussing on your other child that you seem to worry less about every little pregnancy related thing. However, as some others have mentioned, I think actually looking after a baby, as well as a toddler, is much, much harder than being pregnant with a toddler. That's my experience anyway!
It was hard for me, because the pregnancy was much harder this time, so much so that if it had been my first I may not have ahd a second child! I had bad morning sickness for the first two tri's, then I hurt my back and was diagnosed with gestational diabeties and I went into labour at 35 weeks so I had to spend the last two weeks on the couch. Managing all of that was hard enough without having DD to look after. I couldn't pick her up for the last 2 months, she was very good she would play while I would watch her. Not something I enjoyed and I did feel very guilty.
That said I find it a lot wasier to look after the two girls than being pregnant.
Im back ... been working....and looking after a 13mth old getting molars...
We have decided to really try in November as we are going to Darwin for xmas and DH wants me to be able to have a few drinks go on tourist walks and just be able to enjoy my hoiday without feeling 'pregnant' so bless him and im with him lol Last time i was only a few weeks preggers and we were over in Tassi visiting the inlaws, and i hated driving and exhausted.
The next step is to visit the GP as my BP is a tad high 145/85-99 for the last few weeks... but i was 150/100 when i decided to be induced to have Alistair .... and i havent been back to have it checked i have just worked out... so i thought right i need to have a break from the wine to lose the 4-6 kgs that have crept on since being married in march, go on a healthy eating plan (not that our diet is full of rubbish) get the all clear from the doctor and make sure this body is in top shape to start making babies.....

its hard. Mine are 14 months apart and somedays I thought I was crazy. But the older they get the easier it is and it's soooo worth it. My older boys are so close and they have a very strong bond. They entertain eachother, play together and generally get along well :)
