has she been drinking today? she may be dehydrated which could be why her heart is racing, id either take her to the hopital or maybe ring and talk to youor gp
how old is she
16 months
thanks
I'd be off to the hospital hun...
DD had that a few months ago, shallow rapid breathing, high temps over 39, off of her food etc - turned out it was RSV (respiratory problem) - and it spread to bronchiolitis...
Unless you can speak to your Dr urgently over the phone for advice re hospital or not...?
tried getting to teh doc
looks like they are closed!
her temp is 38.9 now
i have to wait until DH gets back from work 6:30 as i dont have a car
how does she seem apart from a temp?
What is her heart rate? babies have a much faster heart rate than us, so it might not be racing as much as you think.....
Also when they have a temp their hearts tend to work a little harder. Why don't you give nurse on call a ring and have a chat to them about it...
can u ring hospital and ask for advice? or get hubbie to get home faster.
shes acting fine
drank all her milk as well
It is normal to have a faster heart rate with a temp, if she is fine otherwise i'd just keep an eye on her and take her to the drs tomorrow if you are concerned.
Nurse on call are really great for advice. Also the MCHN line in Vic is great too. What state are you in?
FFS!
Okay i did a google search and found liverpool hospital number
got redirected to WHO i thought was a nurse!
Okay, spent the first 20 mins giving out details, addresses
then then next 20 mins repeating what i have said
for example, caller "so she has a temperture for 3 days?"
me: " no it was 3 hrs"
caller: "oh sorry i should read my own notes" (YES U SHOULD HAVE)
Then after those stupid questions he reads from a transcript about fevers.
Then i asked, Have i rung Liverpool hospital?
He goes no I have rung some hotline (couldnt hear properly due to their phone echoing!)
WTF!
I'm totally confused
did Liverpool hospital outsourced their hotline or something? coz i double checked the number and it is right
No idea about NSW, but try this one...

Did you have any lucky? How did you go overnight? is she any better this morning?
Was just about to reply. You read my mind Falguni.
DD has the flu, we went to the docs this morning and she vomitted all over me and the doc (again!). She had the flu a few weeks ago but the doc said this is a different strain.
Anyway, i need to go back with a urine sample. How do I get that from a 16mth who is definitely not toilet trained?
Do i just squeeze it out of the nappy? but the disposibles have chemicals in them as well
or should i put her in one of her cloth nappies and squeeze it from then?
Thanks Falguni!
Thanks all
you can get urine collectors from your gp. its a little bag that is sterile that you stick over her girly bits and it catches the wee as she does it
or let her go without a nappy and try and catch it as she does it not easy tho.
we use the collectors for DD they work well make sure the area is clean and dry before putting it on or it wont stick properly.
Pop into the drs, they should be able to give you what's called a 'pediatric collection' bag. It's like a little plastic bag that you can stick over their vulva (inside the nappy) and it catches the urine, you can tip it into the sterile jar from there.
ah damn, i cant walk there again.
DD was very distressed hence why we rushed to get out of the docs surgery and he rang back telling me to collect her urine.
Is it okay to squeeze it out from a nappy?
No as it needs to be an uncontaminated catch, which is how the bag works they wee straight into bag and u then tear corner and tip into jar.
Can you ask someone to go and pick it up for you??
best not to
id go with the nappy free time and wait and catch some, have you got the yellow top sterile container?
