DS has just suddenly started getting car sick. He power chucked all through XH precious car last week. and even just driving around town now, he will get all hot and pale and say, dont go on bumpys mum, im gonna spill.
I am moving to Mildura on the weekend which is a 6 hour drive away. Any tips for keeping my car spew free?
No dairy before car trips! So no milk at least 3-4 hours before you drive. No bananas either! Both of these are BAD for car sickness (I know this from experience).
We give DD1 some Bundaberg ginger ale about half an hour before we go on a long trip as it has real ginger in it which helps prevent nausea. I also get car sick and this helps me too.

we found sitting her in teh middle has helped.
no car belly explosions since we did this.
also we avoid her morning bottle she still has weet bix with small amount of milk.
and we give her water instead for her drink.
we have a 6 hour drive ahead of us on friday aswell so hope we have kinda solved the issue.
i might try the bundaberg ginger ale aswell
Maybe you could get some car sickness bands from the chemist, they have "studs" that sit on your pressure points on your wrist, I have some & they work for me.

When I was a kid I used to get really car sick when I was reading & was told to look out the windows. Apparently people who are sitting in the front are less likely to get car sick because the are looking where they are going
Get him to chew on something - Dad used to give me Fruit Kool Mints ....chewing was the only thing that stopped me hurling ....
My stepmum gives my little brother Ginger to chew on before they leave (eww i know) ginger ale works aswell and i believe the ginger biscuits work, i'm pretty sure you can get ginger tablets from the chemist aswell but depends on the age.

when I was little fruit tingles was the only thing that helped me. Poor thing- travel sickness is horrible.
Lol, my dad gave me the minty kool mints and now to this day I can't eat minty type things cause reminds me of long drives and feeling sick!:

Think I need to take these suggestions in for myself. I have probs with travel sickness. Unless I am driving its not too bad.
My DS gets car sick and we give him Kwell travel sickness tablets if we are going on a long trip. You buy them off the shelf at the chemist, they are in a blue box. Not expensive and can be used from 2 years old. They are chewable and taste like a lolly.
They are MAGIC!!!

My sister used to be bad...I mean REAL bad for travel sickness. She used to take travacalm. Not sure how they were to take though, they are tablets. I like the idea of the chewable ones :)
She did tell dad to slow down on the windy roads...once it was down his arm he finally listened!!
Nai - brilliant advice. I planned to not let him have dairy that day but I wouldn't have thought of bananas, I also will buy some ginger ale. and yeah the spew in the car was such a good feeling for me LOL
kawazuki - sitting him in the middle is a great idea, unfortunately I havea little hatch back so cant do this. I hope both our journeys are spew free!

I carry the wristbands all the time and they work for DD.
one thing that helped me when i was little was having the window down. aircon is bad... fresh air good. and stop for little breaks every hour to ease the trip for 5 min.
also fruit tingles are actually recommended by some oncologists for their anti nausea effects
This sounds so stupid, but it works:
A bandaid over the belly button. It has to make an airtight seal, so the bandaid sort of gets sucked in a little bit. Sounds liek a placebo, but it really works. I have done a lot of road trips with this method!

I bought the Kwells chewable tablets today, hopefully they do the trick
I went through a pack a day when I had MS:
I used to suck on barley sugar. I used to have real bad car sickness as a child. And mum always made sure that my window was down slightly.
