When you think of the name Sasha do you think boy or girl? I thought the name was mainly used as a girl's name but a few people have told me it's a boy's name. What do you think? We have been told we are having a girl and DH is set on Sasha.

I see it 100% girl!!
I went to secondary school with a Croatian guy named Sasha, very good looking i might add ;)
I love it for either boy or girl
I too see it as girl... but, Sacha Baren Cohen does come to mind (guy who lays Borat among other things)
i knew a croation boy at school 2 but i think it was spelt sasa
itsa girls name to me but i say call her wat u want to no matter wat other ppl say xox
I grew up on the same street as a girl named Sasha. Always think of it as a girls name.
Girls name too.
i think girl
To me it is a girls name. I know that it can be used as a boys name but I think it is very feminine.
I think of it as a girl's name too :)
i say girl, but i have a friend with a sasher-boy
I see it as both - and also a cats name for some reason.
I went out with a guy named Sascha - omg... he had the most perfect skin and green eyes... *drool*
*cough cough*
Um so yeah, unisex name here.
Both. I know as many male Sashas as I do female (2 of each)
It's a Russian nickname for Alexander. It is a boys name but perfectly acceptable for a girl - I know two, but considered it for DS.

Haha, I also see it as a cat and dog name. In saying that,I know more boy sasha's than girls and my DP is Russian so our DD (Alexandra) gets called Sasha by his side of the family
I also know equal numbers of boys and girls called Sasha. Sasha for a boy is generally Eastern European and (as PPs have said) for some reason they tend to be good looking ;) But it is still lovely for a girl.
I had a friend called Susha (girl)... I like that little variation...
I went to school with a Sasha - boy.
And uni with Sascha - girl. She had a brother named Tegan. Most people thought this was a bit weird as the had the opposite sex' names. I quite like both!
I would add the C in for a girl. And I prefer it as a girls name.
I went to school with a boy named Sasha but my friends female dog was called Sasha too so I think it suits either sex!
Thanks for all your replies. I really don't know what to do now. What spelling would you have for a girl?
Sasha
Sacha
Sascha
For a girl - without the C :)
On the spelling I would do a straw poll of 10 friends/random people and ask them how they would spell it, then go with the most common. JMO but everyone is going to have a preference and as it is an Anglicised version of a Cyrillic name there is no "right" way to spell it, so you might as well go with the version that causes your child the least grief...
Yeh Mel & Nai ... Gorgeous blue eye's like the ocean & the golden blonde hair was devine & yes beautiful skin Mel :D ... Yeh, was spelt Sasha ... but for a boy i do prefer with the added ' c ' :D ... I think spelt Sasha looks more like it's a girl's name (IYKWIM) ;)
I think the C is more feminine but obviously lots of people have different views!
I also think it depends whether you are pronouncing it as Sar-sha or Sas-sha.
I love the name Sasha! I think girl, my dh wouldn't let me use it as he says he knew a dog called that. There is a boy at my little one's creche who is Sasha.
I love it either way, girl, boy or puppy!
Boy & girls name
My DH has a female cousin named Sasha - so I think of it as a girls name. I think that spelling (Sasha) is the most straight-forward for a child to spell and pronounce. It's a pretty name.
I knew a guy named Sasha and a girl as well but she pronounced it as Sarsha but spelt it the other way.
That was what my dad wanted to call me but it reminded mum of a dog she knew:rolleyes:
So it guess for me it goes either way.
I'm a Sacha.
I have always been told it's a greek girl's name with a 'c', and a russian boy's name with an 's'. Having both the 'c' and the 's' has always seemed a little OTT to me personally.
I have had a million comments when meeting people of 'oh, so-and-so has a dog called that' - it never bothered me. I like dogs.
My friends are very quick to correct people who pronounce it 'sarsha' because they say it sounds to posh for me lol. I don't mind, it just indicates that it's not someone who knows me well.
Thanks everyone so much. Our boys were so easy to choose names for compared to this little girl. So maybe we need to change the s to a c.
Thanks Sacha for replying. It's great to get a perspective from someone who is actullay called Sacha. The dog thing doesn't really worry me. I hope it won't worry our little girl either.
I will talk to DH when he gets home about the s and c change.
There is a Bratz doll called Sasha. I looked that up last night. At least it made me feel better about using the name for a girl. There are also a few models (not all porn) named Sasha.
I think of it as a girls' name, even though it is used for both. I think the girls version is more widely used.
