Has anyone ever taken back glasses?

I got some new ones with an updated prescription about 2 months ago. The optometrist made them a tad stronger and said they will take a while to get used to but I still don't like them. They make me sleepy :(

Has anyone taken back glasses that weren't right?

Sam, my mum had a pair that after a couple of months still weren't right and were making her nauseous. She took them back and the place she went to was very accommodating. I'm pretty sure they replaced the lenses for free.

It's definitely worth going back for a friendly chat about the problem to see what options there are. Goodluck :goodluck:

Yeah i agree that you should go back and speak to them, They cant expect you to have glasses that arent right.

I took mine back - when I picked them up the optometrist assured me it would take some time to get used to... after about 4 weeks I was really getting annoyed with them and wasn't sure how long it should take to get used to - it had never been that long with any other changes to my glasses... luckily I did take them back as the wrong prescription had been put in!

The optometrist's office were very accomodating and have always said if I have a problem to contact them

My mum took hers back once because she just didn't like how they looked on her - thing is when you need glasses to see yourself in a mirror, it is kinda hard to tell how you look trying on frames!
They were happy to replace them, so since they are too strong for you, you should be able to change them too.

Years ago mum picked up new glasses and found they were awful. The optometrist had told her they were a bit stronger and she'd get used to them, but she never did. She wore them for 5 years, getting headaches and all, thinking that she just had to bear it. Then, after 5 years she saw a different optometrist who said that script was totally wrong for her and prescribed new ones that were much better! Don't wait 5 years hun, take them back!!

Yep. Got new glasses, then got terrible headaches. I took them back to a different place in the same company (closer to work rather than home this time) and they re-checked my eyes and found that the prescription I was given was totally wrong (bifocal lenses when I really only needed single vision ones!). There were no problems at all in getting them fixed up.

Definitely go back - it's not worth screwing around with headaches and not feeling/seeing right. And I've also been reminded that I'm seriously overdue for an eye test!

My DH got prescription safety glasses made, and they just made him feel dizzy. He took them back and they checked them out and said that the focal point was incorrect. They remade the glasses and still he had trouble with them. He took them back again, and there were no problems. They suggested he have a full refund as they couldn't quite get it right for him. They were very willing to help and never made him feel bad.

Yes! I took my back as they made me dizzy - i thought I was going nuts for a while :). They replaced them staight away and now they are perfect.

OPSM offer that as a guarantee when you get glasses from there, so I would assume that other places would do it too.

My aunty took hers back after 2 months & found out they had given her the wrong prescription. But they charged her for new lenses & the eye test. I think it was a small shop though that she had been going to since she was a teenager

I did. My glasses were suppose to be for driving. They actually made my vision worse at night and I nearly had an accident. I took them back and had my eyes tested somewhere else who said I had perfect vision!:wall:

i've had goggles all my life (well, all but about 11 months) and have taken several sets back, even as a kid! i knew when things weren't right - and i would always make sure they were right - headaches just make things so much worse. i've even taken contact lenses back

i know that some of the chain stores can be a bit more exxy, but i love the fact that the shop i go to has my whole history of glasses. i love that, when i was living interstate and lost a contact lens, they could call up the script in another store. and i LOVE that they are great with helping to swap lenses when i'm not happy with them!

sigh - i need to get my eyes checked again!

Hey I can update now as I went to the optometrist today :D

Bear with me this is interesting ;)

Turns out that my prescription was right BUT I am a freak with one ear a bit lower and due to that my glasses didn't sit straight and I wasn't looking through the lens at the correct spot and causing issues with my astigmatism. This was causing me to feel sick and tired (besides the usual reasons for me feeling so ;) ). Also I was seeing black writing as brown and it was haloing a bit.
I had no idea that my ears were uneven because I was never told. I assume that every other place I've gotten glasses for has adjusted them for it. Also they said because of the newer trend of narrower frames that's something that they need to get more spot on than they used to when frames were rounder and a bit bigger.

So I have to try them out for 2 weeks and see how they feel.

Lucky! I've lost my glasses somewhere in my black hole of a house and I miss them! Can't seem to find them anywhere.

Good to know that they will exchange or fix if not right as I need my eyes retested soon. Crossing fingers I'm not legally blind in my right eye now

:think: Well there you go. Who would have thought that an unnoticeably wonky ear could cause so much trouble. :D
