Hmmm, Ive always just thrown them in the bin.
well better then going in landfill but i'm a little iffy. what do the chemicals do when you burn them? any toxic gases emmitted?
Are they the corn based ones? They're biodegradeable so they might not stink when burnt.
I experimented with burning all sorts of stuff in my Mum's wood stove when I was a child and if you shut the door it doesn't smell inside the house but if you stand down wind from the chimney you know all about it.
arent the gel's in the middle toxic though when burnt? and their plastic arent they???
The gels in the corn ones are plant based so it wouldn't be all that differant to burning corn husks.
just because u cant smell it doesnt mean theres not toxic gasses in the air the reason why u cant burn treated pine we dont put plastic in ours coz it gets stuck in the flue

The burning plastic will emit toxic fumes, that as Bron pointed out you will smell outside the house, not in it. Not to mention the unnecessary carbon emissions created by burning it.
Can't say I would be doing it if I used sposies

lol MD - I was going to say there is a reason they made backyard incinerators illegal - because people kept burning toxic substances!

I had someone tell me to burn ours as we have to deal with our own rubbish. I was always very doubtful of it so have never done it.
BTW my DH who was on latrine-burning duty when he was in Pakistan can vouch for the fact that it is the most horrible smell he has ever experienced in his life (and he's been places and smelt plenty of horrible smells in his time)!!

I can smell our next doors fireplace smoke in my house some times and I'd be mighty foul if I discovered that it was nappies I was smelling. I have told her to stop burning plastic before!
