Hi girls
Wondering if anybody had any "outside the box" ways of bringing on labour?
I am only 1 day over but have tried most ways but hoping somebody has a party trick I may not have heard of?
Thanks

Awww, don't forget it's an estimated date.
It's a hard wait at the end though. I didn't go into labour until I found the perfect labour outfit with no2 (that night), with no3 I went in the night I found the perfect couch cos I was paranoid about people coming to see DD and sitting on a crappy couch.
So shopping does it for me I think...
i had accupunture the day before i went into labour, but id been having it weekly from 35 weeks!
The day before I was up at 6am, was out all day. Went to a 21st that night. Let DF drink coz there was no signs of labour, got home late DTD, went to sleep at 1am, woke up at 1.15am when my waters broke & DF was drunk.
The only thing was I wasnt trying to bring labour on!! :D
Good luck, I hope you get to meet your bubba soon!
ETA- Go to Nelle's house.
i finally planted this kangaroo paw bush that i had been meaning to do for weeks...that afternoon my waters gushed forth...
sometimes, just sometimes there is a wee little mind block going on and can be the most BANAL thing in the world...like planting a plant LOL!
is there something you have been meaning to do but havent yet because the effort doesnt seem worth it? worked a treat for me lol.
walk walk walk walk lol
Dont know if there's a conection or not. But I had maccas breaky
both times i have gone into labour after being at a friends place - the same friend both times (and they are ppl i dont see often)
KFC!!!!
My friend's mum swears by it. I didn't believe it for a moment but then I thought mmm, yum, I feel like KFC for dinner tonight (you know when someone suggests food and you think "yeah!")
So I did have KFC that night just because I felt like it and I got my first contraction 12 hours later and DD showed up that day, 1 day early. DS was 6 days late and the OB had told me to expect to be late again.
I watched the AFL grand final in bed, with a hot water bottle on my back on my hands and knees rocking as the hospital said to keep waiting. As soon as the game finished I got up and gravity took over and it was off to the hospital. I didn't want to miss my beloved Swannies lose..but they did..by one point! :D I have heard of certain herbal remedies but I never tried any of them as I wasn't confident I knew what I was doing and didn't want to poison myself!
I'm interested in this thread cause I would love to know - not cause I;'m over it but just sooo excited! Anyway I don't think any one thing can do it otherwise we would all be doing it! My gf made her DH have sex ALL the time (poor him!) even though she wasn't even interested just cause she thought that might help like it did with first one!
My gf swears by 'kerb walking'.
One foot up the kerb, one foot on the road and walk!!! You may look a little strange and feel a bit odd, but put your ipod on and keep going round the block! It worked for her 2nd bub who was 10 days late! :D
My OB told me the last thing you did was the one that worked.
The day before DD was born at 40+5 we had sex, I had an OB visit with a S&S, had acupuncture, jumped on the trampoline and went for a long walk. Take your pick as to which one worked lol ;)
Well my 'due' date was Monday and I have had sex (going to have more), curry, walking walking walking, acupuncture, massage and today threw in a pedi for good luck. Have also been swinging and gyrating like a clown and still waiting. Oh and don't forget raspberry tea (had heaps of that) and have been stop start for 3 weeks. I think I will be pregnant for a while yet, we will see.
Honestly I walked myself silly! The day before I gave birth I walked up a massive hill...it worked!! I was only 2 days over, but id been walking a lot during my whole pregnancy aswell. It just helps gravity I reckon! My last resort would have been DTD..but DP was not keen on that idea! :p
I tried everything under the sun - dtd, gutter walking, s&s, acupuncture, reflexology, nipple massage. At 42 wks DS was still only 3/5, not even close to engaged.
But, the day before my induction was scheduled I saw a hypnotherapist/guru who helped me to visualise my induction not happening.
In the end I was sitting in the hospital room (we'd sent the doctor with his water breaking device out of the room so we could talk) and I did another last ditch nipple massage and BAM labour. You could see on the CTG I was having BH tightenings every 10 mins, and I did less than 2 mins of nipple massage and I got a massive contraction (enough to dip bubs' heart rate). After that I was having mildly painful contractions every4-5 mins, The hospital staff were not convinced that I was in labour. After checking that the fluid was ok they rebooked the induction for the following day - but 13 hours later DS was born :D 2 weeks late exactly!
It was a wonderful, wonderful birthing experience.
I tried everything... But in the end...
Definitly NOT recommending this one... I had swine flu and was coughing up a lung, so i think the coughing fit brought on the labour :)
I DTD and had like a quarter glass of red wine (shhhh.....)
Thank you girls for your responses.
I had my little girl the next day after I posted this thread.....it could have been the walking, trampoline, curry, sex, clary sage, pilates ball, nipple stim, did my own internal....but the first contraction came as i was frantically breaststroking up and down the pool!
She was coming out so help me god!
Thanks again.....I like the idea of kerb walking though!
Ive heard that eating curry helps, as it apparently losens you up...I thought it was just a myth, but my friend ate a curry one night, and went into labour early hours the next morning.
They also say intercourse can help 'stimulate' and bring on labour, but i havent heard of any cases of this being true. lol
Worth a shot but.
Bubba is perfect thanks FTM.....seems to have suffered no ill effects from the trampoline!
Oh i also forgot I dosed up myself with prune juice the day before to give me the runs - certainly did its job and i had cracker braxton hicks all day after that!
