Girly tools

I discovered a range of girly tools at my local shops and after mulling over a purchase, took the plunge.
They are enamel coated things like hammers (with a series of screwdrivers tucked inside the handle), box cutters, pliers, a large screwdriver with various other tucked into the handle, that sort of thing. The enamel is of various colours and designs and my hammer is a blue paisley print - it's only small, but does the job of banging in picture hooks so that I don't have to wait an age for DP to get around to putting up photos!
Who else has seen these? The hammer cost me $15, but it's BEAUTIFUL! Oh, and useful ;)

might have a look for those for when we get our house. it have gardening stuff too? Who stocks them? (am i allowed to ask that?)

I bought a girly bulb spade because it donated a dollar to breast cancer or something.
I've got to say it's great quality - I used it for Jonquils which have to really deep (for bulbs) and it made a perfect bulb sized hole - the little measure on the back was rally handy for the depth too.

Oh yes, I have a pink girly tool version of the hammer with all the screwdriver etc inside. I *love* that it's MINE and I don't have to venture out into the spidery shed whenever I need a tool. I'd love the matching pliers but the shop where I got mine didn't get them in. I've seen them at lincraft a while back.

yeah our local bookstore sell them too...with floral prints etc.....

Marydean, I also love that I don't have to deal with the shed now! DP offered to bring up a hammer and leave it in the house for me. I politely declined and said that not only would DS find it, but with a fancy one DS would have a hard time recognising it as a hammer and it was the perfect size to hide anyway. Why would I use a boring black, rubbery one when I could have my favourite print (paisley ANYTHING) on my own hammer?
My local bargain shop has them (but not in paisley) and the neighbouring shopping strip has them in one of the homewares shops.
Brontide - I thought the enamel would chip off first time, but it didn't! So, yeah, seems to be good enough quality for what I want :)

Would you believe that I'm the mistress of the tools in our house? When I met DH he still borrowed his father's and now he borrows mine. What kind of man doesn't have his own tools? lol

my MIL has a craft shop and has them there their pretty cool but the hardware store has a whole tool set thats purple and she also had a pink set in her shop 2 she had a measuring tape the same as the hammer

Good one, Brontide! DP's a handyman from way back, so there's loads of tools lying all over the place. Ach, there's no way I'm heading to that shed for love or principle! It's down an unmade path that plays havoc with my pelvis (he he, haven't had to hang or collect washing under the house in MONTHS, refuse to get firewood from next to the shed, cos I've taken some falls down there!), so that's how I ended up justifying the purchase to DP. Though now he says he has plenty of pliers in big and small and I don't need to get a fancy set :( Never mind, I'll just get the tape measure, instead!

I had a pink tool belt - I gave it to my sister for helping me fix my roof, but I've missed it so much I'm buying another one. Highly recommended!

I have my own girly tool set. I LOVE IT!! I got it becuase I was sick of searching around for whatever I needed t use. DH laughed at me and said he'd never use it.......Guess which tool set gets used every day now??

LOL Lulu - the lady in the Tecoma shop said the hammer had stopped her husband getting mad at her for using her shoe heels to put up photo frames!

I tend to be the keeper of the tools in this house too. DH didn't have any when we first moved in together but I had quite a collection from doing fine art at uni (needed to make canvas stretchers like staple guns and a handsaw... even drawing and tapestry required a few tools like tape measures, specialty rulers and plumb bolts etc). For Mothers Day I got a Whipper Snipper, at my request. To be honest I get a bit antsy when DH uses the lawn mower too. He's a typical bloke and generally too rough with tools.... and he doesn't clean them properly after using them :( It's quite annoying to go to use the lawn mower and it's covered in dirt... I lovingly hose out the catcher and put a wire brush to the wheels to get off every last bit of caked on grass etc. I dream of a shed. DH could take or leave it. He likes chopping wood though... i don't do that job.

Girly tools: hmmm.... I have seen them around... but I like things to age well with use and I worry that they will fail to keep looking good. I adore paisley though. When it comes to metal things I like to buy things that keep getting better with age and that can be given a good scrub/polish and look perfect again. It's a problem I have. :redface:

mmm a shed. I would like a shed too - I had one but I got home from my class a couple of months ago and found it turned into a gym. All my stuff was squashed together up the back. DH just doesn't get that for a shed to be functional one needs space to move around - having to squeeze in behind the wheel-barrow to get something doesn't cut it, and speaking of the wheel-barrow, he filled it with stuff, *sigh* a wheel-barrow needs to left empty to be properly functional.

I got me a double garage with a smaller room attached at the side - it's WONDERFUL. All the everyday stuff goes in the side part and all my furniture (to be reno'd) fits in the shed and I can work on it in there too.

HUGE selling point for me!

Oh definitely... you gotta store the wheelbarrow empty and ready for use!!! I also put an old sheet over the lawn mower to stop dirt coming through gaps in the woodshed roof (it's under a huge pine tree). DH also gave me a lovely pair of pruning shears for Xmas... mmm... love tools.... I think I fancy a drill next...

hehe i am totally the odd one out.
My DH leaves his tools in the house and it drives me bonkers, and anything that would require me to use a hammer.. DH would rather me leave it for him to do :)

With the lawn mower i dont even know how to turn the freakin thing on LOL

Stevie: I don't drive so I figure if i can do some other jobs instead I feel less of a burden to DH ;) I don't know how to fill a car with petrol.... honestly... not the first thing... unless it was asking the service station attendant to do it like in the old days LOL

DP assures me that when we move to a bigger property we'll design the house (strawbale intentions), it will be easier to keep clean and tidy. I have serious doubts about ANY design facilitating tidying up wherever he lives, but if this somehow proves to be the case, I will have a workshop/studio of my own and he can have his own workshop. I want my own tools in there! Not my girly ones (they're for in the house so I don't have to traipse outside ;) ), real ones - we both like good quality tools, and I won't need too many. He's got stacks, mainly for woodworking and a bit of mechanics. I just need good gardening tools, and some basics for fixing fences/kennels/holding yards etc, when the day comes that we live somewhere I can keep my horse :)
I can't STAND it when DP leaves the wheelbarrow full of stuff! Can't use it to cart haybales to the car (don't keep them where I agist cos the kids pinch it, grrr) or wood to the front door!
