That is very dear indeed! You can pay it six monthly if you want.
Are you will NRMA? They sent me a CTP greenslip that was $200 over charged!
The nice lady at NRMA said, this cant be right and adjusted the figure for me! DAMN MONEY SUCKERS!
Opps and i just realised you said Rego not greenslip. ANyway double check your Greenslip as well just incase
What sort of car do you have? Maybe coz your in QLD its different. Mine's only around $250 for a 4wd. $500 for CTP here, being under 30.
bj - QLD rego you dont have to get all the slips (ie green slip, pink slip) its all in one at the Dept of Transport. All you do is pick your CTP Insurer (which i think is green slip in NSW) and pay.
I get my renewel next month Hollo, NOT looking forward to it! That seems so much $$$ to register a vehicle...anyone know why its gone up so much? Last year was about $600 to renew
i have no idea why it has gone up! but it is a bit ridiculous! the CTP is with Alliance and is 347.00/annum. so maybe the CTP is a bit exxy! still.. 800!! shheesh! oh and we have a toyota avolon sedan so nothing out of the ordinary there either!
oh my god, thats crazy. Here in wa our car rego is 400 a year including 3rd party insurance. Its then another 550 a year for full comp car insurance. Your prices are insane
Oh ok. Well my rego & CTP (compulsery third party) here in NSW adds up to around $750 with me being under 30. Pink slip another $30 on top of that (with no repairs), so that doesn't seem too much to me. Well it does, but thats what we pay yearly :)
CTP should go down to around $250 as well once I'm 30 though (hopefully!) & our CTP prices did go up about $80 a few years ago.
Full comprehensive car insurance for me is at the cheapest about $1000pa. Mainly coz of my age. Don't have it atm, but trying to afford it soon!
Oh my comprehensive insurance is $65 per month, it went down from $75 last year. Coz im getting older i guess. But thats with $900 excess :wall:
for our new landcruiser. we will pay 450 rego 150 for my personalised plates, 350 for CTP and 800 for full comp insurance. so whats that all up
$1700 a year for our car to eb on the road...
our little daewoo is only 250 a year plus 200 for CTP and 200 for third party insurance so $650 a year so all up we have $2350 a year in rego.
thats why i sold my bike and hubbies bike as our bikes were only 150 for rego, but 450 for CTP and over 1500 for insurance we had a yearly rego/ insurance bill of almost 6 grand..
Just checked my rego (NSW) due last month. We drive a 2003 Honda CRV.
Pink slip = $30
CTP = $488 (they wanted to charge me $658!)
Rego = $396
man, we need to move states! LOL
Anytime the govt here needs to raise some money the first thing they do is increase rego and tolls. Our rego is over $600 pa including CTP and our car is 4 cyl. But we used to pay over $800 a year when we had a V8. Personalised plates cost over $400 to buy, but thankfully it is only a one off cost, no ongoing fee to have them (yet).
Yup we got our rego before we moved (and we had to pay it, but only did it for 6 months) and are soooo glad we moved to tassie cos rego is HEAPS cheaper here apparently.
What cylinder is it? Last time I paid my 4 cylinder it was $570 - that was nearly 10 months ago - I am really praying your car is 6 cylinder for that price!
Qlders are totally ripped off with rego and we still have crappy roads!
And to think that a year ago, QLD was one of the cheapest states to register a car
We just got the one for DH's car, and the rego now costs more than the car is insured for (it is a bomb to look at, but great for him to get to/from work)..
Not looking forward to mine, cause I have an Avalon too..
That was really obvious when we drove to the NT a few years back. You didn't need one of those 'Welcome to the NT' signs to know you had crossed a state border.
And it is because of the govt having no money in reserves with the current financial climate. The easiest way to get money is to tax and increase govt revenue with the essential services. If you have a car, you have no choice but to pay it, and the world we live in, we will pay it..
I am trying to convince DH that we don't need the 2 cars. But he doesn't want to leave me and the kids at home stranded cause there isn't much public transport around. (I can have a decent bus service if I walk 20 mins to the local shopping centre though).
I hear ya $200 increase on our falcon from last year its a disgrace its not just cars either $23 more for trailers and $90 more for boats when we have 2 cars, 5 trailers and 3 boats it certainly adds up big time, add full insurance on cars, boats and one fo the trailers thats a lot of $$$ for **** roads
We got our rego just before the prices got increased and DP wanted to pay half yearly but 1. It costs you more and 2. Seeing as the prices were going to increase I wanted to pay the whole year. I'm glad that we did now, just not looking forward to next year.
we have a 7 seater 97 model chrysler voyager, hubby is the only driver, (i dont drive yet) he is 30, and our rego is due to be paid on friday, and i have no idea where we are getting the money from to do it, especially since it has risen in price, we didnt budget for that.
We can only afford to do the 6 mths rego atm $415.30, cause hubby is studying, we dont have alot in $$ yet we need the car to get around.
We paid our V8 rego a few weeks ago and it was just over $800, which was up a couple of hundred..I couldn't believe it had risen so much.. Definately think it is about time i started looking at the CTP Insurer on the rego papers and ringing for quotes.
ausgirl - I wasn't complaining. I don't even have personalised plates! I was merely making the point that while they are expensive to buy, we are lucky that we don't have to pay a yearly fee to keep them. And FWIW I do know the difference between luxuries and necessities.
I was just thinking before.... To register the same vehicle in QLD is $731, whereas here is $496. And in VIC, I don't know if the other states are the same, but the cost also varies by postcode. Its $50 cheaper for me here in Sunbury than it is for my Mum in toffee Ivanhoe. Go figure.
