hi ladies, sorry if this is too personal im just interested in what other peoples let down feels like.

i've never really felt it at all!
Hot, full boobies all of a sudden and pins and needles!
pretty much what lulu said! full feeling followed by pain, only last 45-60 secs though.
i never felt a letdown with DD1 but i certainly feel them this time
What Lulu said!
mines kinda sharp pulling sensation, stronger in the one not being fed on... I usually get it about twice a feed, and if she is asleep and due for a feed... that is a bit more ouchie
oh good, i was worried the painfullness wasnt normal!!
olive- i take it its not one of those things that stops if ur still getting it?
Yep same as Lulu, pins and needles, tingley. The feeling stopped at 4ish months after I got mastitis.
Mine was the same....pins and needles for a few seconds. It's not nice but then it's good to know that it's working ;)
I only got a tingle but apparently I'm strange. LC thought I was crazy
skybie, many mums find that they stop feeling their let down after the first few weeks. But it is different for everyone.
I only sometimes feel my let down - and it feels like sharp tingles at the top of my boobs. I wouldn't call it painful, but it's not a pleasant sensation either.
....im like that too....:
It's not nice but then it's good to know that it's working
Mine is more like pressure going down my breast into the nipple itms? And its stronger in the side not being fed from. I only ever get one per feed. It's not like pins and needles at all and not painful or unpleasant.....just weird
MR - I was the opposite - I could never feel it for the first 3-4 months and now I can
Mine always felt like my boobs suddenly got full & then it was like a bruise been pushed on, then pins & needles. We stopped feeding at 15 months & I was still feeling letdown until the day she stopped. I would also know when miss was due for a feed because almost to the minute I would start getting a letdown, that was great fun when I was bridesmaid at my friends wedding & didn't feed for an entire day!
Does it sound really crazy that I actually kind of enjoyed feeling a big letdown? Mine was exactly the same as described by you girls - hot, hard, pins and needles, and pain. But I actually kind of liked the feeling, maybe it was a reassurance that bubs was getting a neckful of milk and my body was working as nature intended? I stopped feeling it a few weeks ago though and now I wonder if DD2 is getting enough milk because my boobs are definitely smaller (I've lost a bit of weight and my weekly measure-in on Tuesday tells me my boobies have shrunk a good 2 inches, eek! DH better buy me new ones when bub stops using them as feedbags, there'll be nothing left!) and they never feel full anymore. But she seems happy, so I guess they're still in good working order... I just miss that initial 'gush' when DD2 latched on and settled in for a 3-course meal :)
I never feel my let down!!! :D Only know if she's pulled off at the same time and milk is all over her face  haha
Kaz I'm the same as you!! I never felt it at the start! Don't think I started feeling it until she was about 3 months old. Mine doesn't feel like pins and needles. It feels like my boobs get REALLY full all of a sudden and could burst, LOL.
I STILL get them all the time, if I think about feeding her, if she's due for a feed, sometimes for no reason. I don't see it stopping any time soon. I still even get engorged at times and soak through lots of breast pads *sigh*
Good post thanks for asking the question Skybie.
While i don't feel it every time I do feel slight tingling - or tickle in the inside IYKWIM. Definitely not painful but just a little different from what it normally feels like. I'm having to use a shield which I assume which deaden any effect anyway but would prefer to feel it so that I know he's geting milk. I don't get any leaking that a number of other ladies talk about.
How quickly do you find your let down occurs. My little one is a sluggish sucker and I am afraid he will give up - too hard basket - if it doesn't occur quickly?
This is really interesting.
I never feel a let down and didn't realise so many people did.
Meadsie- mine usually happens in a minute or two depending on what kind of headspace im in, if im uptight and rushed it takes a little longer, but if im nice and relaxed its relativley quick.
i like how u ladies have put it, if u can feel it u know its working, going to put that spin on it from now on and not how uncomfortable it is!
^ I was just so glad to get over the after-pains when feeding that the 'tickling' pain in my breasts upon letdown was an absolute relief! Afterpain cramping suuuucked :/
That is one of the things I miss about not breastfeeding anymore. I used to love the feeling - I pretty much felt it from my head to my toes. (or maybe I'm confusing let down with love )
I only feel it when I am really really full, but at the beginning i used to feel it all the time. Like green ant bites!
This time round my let down is bearable and just feels a bit hot and tingly. It definitely did not feel like that last time! With DS is was like someone were stabbing my nipples and areolae and it lasted ages (the let down itself and the duration till I never got it anymore whilst feeding) - it would have been about 6 months with DS at least. Nipple vasospasm didn't help, initially, but when that disappeared, the stabby sensationed remained.
With Chooky and after having Noah, my let down was like a tickle... it was kinda nice and noticeably a let down.
I think losing Noah and hating that even thinking about him made my breasts leak has made my mind not be able to think about let down or something because I haven't felt it since. So, the only time I know my breasts have let down is if Anelise pulls off and I leak everywhere, or if she is covered in milk.
I didn't feel any letdown until DD was about 7 weeks old, and then it felt like somebody was pushing a knitting needle up my nipple!! I felt it mostly on the side I wasn't feeding on. It still feels like that at nearly 6 months but hurts a lot less. Lasts about 10 seconds.
