we have tinsel and balls and little snowflakes im planning on getting candy canes all my decos are red and gold or glittery
Not up yet, but always have lights, tinsel, baubles and an assortment of decorations!!!!!
I usually do stars, baubles and lights, no tinsel but decided this year to try the tinsel...hoping it will look effective!!
You have me hanging out till tuesday to put my tree up, made DH get it from under the house...can't wait...
Our tree is the most mis-matched ecclectic looking tree you've ever seen ROFL. Most of the stuff we have doesn't match at all. We have tinsel - don't do lights as they are a fire hazard  and decorations that I've brought and ones the kids have made at school. This year we will be adding to the odd-ness by including the little cross stitched stockings I have done. I see the trees they have in Myer and how it is all co-ordinated and it all matches a theme, and I would love a tree that looked like that, but I love how our tree looks. eventually I would like all the ornaments to be handmade so that i dont have to buy cheap imported from China crap.
Nothing at the moment, it isn't up. But usually all of the above LOL
Trillian none of ours match either!! Its a collection on some cheap some slightly more expensive ornamanets that I have had for anywhere from 1 - 9 years!!! I even have some winnie the pooh and friends soft ones and some baubles with winnie the poo on them plus a heap of cheap crap and a few nice hallmark ones!!! Very missed match I get tree envy in myers!!
Ours is a colorfull mishmash of whatever fits on, lots tinsil, balls, angels, some made deco's. And big star on top.
Lights I'm too paranoid to put on, mum always went on bout housefires and lights so put my lights round the lounge instead, looks good.
Df isn't overally impressed our tree has already been up for 2 weeks. Lol.
WE have a star on top!
baubles- green, red, purple and gold
Decorations- frosty, angels, santa, some elves, some stars a gingerbread man
No tinsel
Ligths- 2 sets, one coloured one plain
Oh and candy canes haging on the tree to eat through Christmas!!!
I've finally picked a theme - I buy the starlight foundation baubles every year - a few at a time. They are all purple and silver. So something matching at least.
I have so many Christmas deccies I normally only get some out (I pick a 'theme') so each year we rotate thru different ones. I do so love sparkly, crystal & glass ones that catch the light, but they might have to stay in the box this year with DD2 on the prowl LOL.
I was thinking to concentrate on purple colours this year (ie purple tinsel & wrapping paper) but I've just had the brainwave to do a pink themed christmas. Seems kind of appropriate with the mastectomy. I've got enough pink or matches-with-pink things, probably only need some ribbons and/or tulle to boost the pinkness factor.
Anyone seen any pink tinsel at the shops?
We don't have our tree up yet either, not long now though!
We have lights, baubles and a few decorations but we don't have tinsel. Our decorations are red, purple, green and gold.
And an angel on top :D.
Oh I forgot that we added about 9 disney princess balls last year for DD, they make the tree a bit mis-matched now  ohh well.
I bet ours can rival yours Trillian! We have things Zander has made at preschool, some very expensive glass balls (not on this year because of the J terror), plastic balls, sequined fabric stars, plastic Dora & Sesame St characters & a whole bunch of other stuff. We also have tinsel (purple & red this year!) and lights which are already attached to the tree.
My mum's tree is awesome, it used to be eclectic like ours but now she has got just birds with massive feather tails & these sparkly feather things. It looks AWESOME!
I was going for a purple theme, but now have just decided to go eclectic. For the past couple of years I have been picking up decorations made from dough, bit cutsie but I can't help myself
we have a paper and glitter star(from kindy) a fabric bell, a pink giraffe, a small rudolf, and a lady playing a violin...... thats it how is that for ecclectic ;)
nuffin at the moment it is naked....just put the tree up and had to come for a lie down cos it pooped me out. When I get back to it I have theme of red gold and green no silver or other colours allowed.......lots and lots of lights including 100 candle lights and a truckload of tinsel.....overdone maybe but it does sparkle!!!
our tree is a mis match but I love it.
We have decorations that mean something to us on our tree, we have home made decorations done by Dh's 100 yr old Nana and some his Mum made, we have decorations that the kids have made and some from my Grandparents who have passed. WE also have picture frame ornaments with different pics of family in them. We have lights and balls and tinsel.
To me Christmas is about family and our tree has all our special family things on it. The kids decorate it , with help for the top parts that they cant reach.
We also have the hallmark decorations for every year up til their fifth birthday each.
So its mis matched but meaningful
Only my second xmas in Aus so dont have much stuff, Red and silver this year. Got some nice glass balls etc, coloured lights, a few special little bits. not keen on tinsell either, but have a bit. And a beautiful glass angel for the top! Its going up in a few days...so excited!
DH is dragging ours out of the shed tomorrow :D :D :D I can't wait!
I wish we could go nutso with fairy lights, but with DD1 and her fiddle fingers I'm afraid it could be dangerous, so I just go crazy with tinsel instead. Purple, blue and silver seem to by my colours, I've done it that way three years in a row. We put up purple, blue and silver baubles as well as tinsel last year but between DD1 and the new puppy, they all got torn off and destroyed so I don't know if I'll worry about it this year.
We'll need a new star for the top of the tree, too - there has to be a huge, sparkly star. Ours got mangled last year when DD1 decided it was time for the tree to come down lol...
:D Can't wait until the kids are old enough to enjoy it without destroying it!
I cant find my box of decorations at the moment so all ours has is purple tinsel & 2 decorations that DD got last year.
None of our decorations match either, every year I buy a new one for the family & have just started buying one for DD. For a few year we were doing nibbles at our place Christmas eve & I asked everyone to bring a decoration for the tree. So all of these have a little labl on them with who bought them & the year on it
Some may take this as proof of a damaged mind, but here's my tree.
Put up on the Saturday before December (so it up now!)
100 fairy lights and gold baubles atm. The baubles range in size so the big baubles are on the bottom and the small at the top. Even DS commented on the size issue this year. Baubles are all plastic so DS can lie under the tree and bat them (he's really a cat in disguise).
Then, from 1st-24th December, we have an Advent Bible reading. After this we say a prayer and DS can hang a small star on the tree wherever he wants. Every Sunday after Church we hang a big star on (and these are in order!) so there are four big stars to go on somewhere too. Golden Angel goes on the top after the Christmas Eve/Christingle service: should be Midnight Mass but we're not doing that atm!
There are a few soft toys that come out for December, but the tree is our only Christmas decoration. I like to celebrate Christmas all year long, like Ebenezer Scrooge (at the end of the book) or akin to "far away across the sea/in sunny Italy/there's a quaint little town/not a clock has been wound/for over a century./ They don't know the date or year/and don't really seem to care/and this is the reason/the Christmas season/is celebrated all year." So I don't go in for big Christmas stuff, but I do like to see a few lights and a bit of green at this bleak time of the year. There's a reason most people have a festival involving putting loads of lights on in December and it's a Northern Hemisphere reason!
