I want to buy a pair of denim shorts or 3/4s and all they have are friggen low rise. I can just get them past my pelvis and can't do them up thanks to my overhang.
I can't find any high rise jeans.
Are you sick of low rise pants, like i am?? Or do you love them??
Love them - I have very little hip definition and low rise sorts out the illusion!
I like them because I'm short and on me they sit a little bit higher like normal jeans do on taller women.
Im with you Turkish Delight. I hate them! Have a bit of a phobia of sitting down and looking like some girls who let the whole lot hang out (my niece is terrible for this!). I cant get shorts in high rise but the jeans I wear are Levi's, can get them in all sorts of shapes and sizes! Although being a shorty the always seem to be too long :shakehead:
I"m with you! I hate them as I am short waisted, so they just look foul on me, I mean really foul and yeah, they don't look good with a belly at all. ezibuy have loads of high rise capris, maybe google them and have a look?
I don't like them at all, they make me look short(er), but I also don't like high rise.....so I wore mens levis for years. They seem to be juuust right.
Oh Trill yeah! The last pair of jeans that I loved to death and wore to rags were from ezibuy.
Eurgh. I cannever get them to stay up, they always fall down. And I am totally paranoid about flashing in them :rolleyes:
On the funny side...DD was going through my bag of old old old clothes a few weeks back..she found my old Levi501s & squealed 'oooh, you have high-waisted jeans!' and I just laughed & said 'honey...not high-waisted ... that was normal then'
OMG before I got pregnant I LOVED them, now I hate them. But I don't like high waist because then I can't breathe (or are my high waists too high? LOL! I am a short-ass) and find myself most comfortable in mid-waist (lol mid-waist I just made that up I think!). Thanks 'overhang' and damn hip fat! lol

Men's 501's...they were the best!!! High-rises feel like corsetry on me, can't deal.
I like them, but they're rubbish for parenting small children, you can't crouch in them unless you have a long top on. Or a really really trusty belt. Or a long stretchy singlet that's tucked in.
I agree that 3/4 stuff seems to be mostly lo rise. Hm. Could you get a pair of high/mid rise normal straight leg jeans and then roll them up to be 3/4?
So i'm a nanna :lol: Plus i can't wear my nanna or bridget jones undies either with them :lol:
Yeah Nelle, you can't crouch as your bum shows, and that is definitely not a good site on me.
But why are they so the go?? What about the elderly ladies who want to buy 3/4 jeans?? Okay, that sounds silly, i've never seen elderly women in denim 3/4s.

LOL I've been trying my darndest to get my MiL into some funkier clothes...but all 73 years of her conspire against me and she gets into those elasticated waists with the narrow ankle all the same...!
I have a similar story to Jasp's - DP saw a pair of jeans of mine I wore in my early 20's and laughed at them for being 'harry high pants'...ummm, these were the original low waist jeans before you could find them in every jeans outlet - my trusty Gas Station hipsters from 1996! Then hipsters got cut even further and now they should be called Crotchsters.
Definitely specialty underwear! I wear everything low (skirts a size up so that I get the style, but not sitting so high) so all I own are hipster undies.
I recall my friends rejoicing when high-waists were making the catwalks two years ago - where did those styles go?
TD - you might like the clothes at the Wind and Water Designs website (google). Shorts with a higher waist :) And made in Brisbane - email the lady, she'll take in extra details to match you to a style or size. I've got her Grace Pants, and they are the only pair of higher waisted pants I have but that is completely offset by the maddest flare ever!
I don't like them because I always seem to end up with a muffin top - no matter what size. I got some good mid rise 3/4 at Big W. I still always have to take the waist in cause I have a larger bum and thighs than waist.
I cant stand high waisted pants i feel like im suffocating so im all about the hipsters though skinny leg jeans seem to be much more flattering on me (well i like to think so)
I have the same problem but have found Target and Kmart seem to have the pants I need.. Not always but
But does it all have to be low rise or high waisted? Isn't there something in between?
I don't love high waist either, although maybe that is what my idea of 'normal' is these days.... eugh, now I feel old :lol:
I used to love low rise - suit me best. But since bubs I now have big muffin top so have been wearing mid rise to try and tuck it all in :ROFL: I did find some 3/4 in target. But if you want a really nice pair of jeans or 3/4 pants then JAG jeans are the way to go. Myer always has them on sale. I love them to death and I can't kill them :)
I am so glad that I am not the only one who hates them! I have basically no waist and they are both uncomfortable and ugly on me. I have so much trouble buying jeans and I was starting to think I was the only one.
I'm not sure about shorts, but I have found that Jeanswest have a style that fits me well. Funnily enough I tried on a heap of their jeans not long ago and couldn't find any that fit well. Then I went shopping with a friend and tried on a pair she suggested and they were great!
i find the high waist ones suck in my gut and fat, whereas the low rise ones accentuate it as my fat sits on top.
I don't like them either! I generally go for men's shorts/pants cos they so much more comfy, with a baby bump it's not so easy though.
You can get mid rise Jasp, I have a pair of mid rise straight leg jeans from (I think) Just Jeans?
Honestly girls, check out WInd And Water Designs!! I'll get a pair of the rolldown pants for winter - you can wear them low, mid or high :)

When i sit down with hi-rise they hurt as they dig under my rib cage, ouch :shakehead:

Yup. Last winter I live in my Nobody high waisted skinny jeans, they sucked me in and nobody copped a look at my rear end when I knelt down to DS.:
Riders do a cut called bumsters, which are low rise in front but mid rise in the back. Great for if you don't want plumber's crack. Plus it has more elastine than Levi's so they're really comfy.
I can only wear low rise now because of where my lapband port is placed. I find that everywhere I shop, low rise is the hardest to get in my size!
Sad sight yesterday at docklands.....high rise denim shorts cuts off way too high at the leg. Oh bad look.
Lulu, do you mean when they have the pockets hanging out the bottom and you can just about see what they had for lunch? Lol! Seen a few of those around here too. Ew. Someone shoot me if I ever wear anything like that!

OMG Lulu ... my Mum use to wear those shorts in the very early 80's ...
yep, 5ft short she was & great bod and she didn't have a care in the world to show off her bod, infact the overweight neighbours ' housewives ' wanted to kill her ... poor Mum always outspoken even in her clothes !!
... was even worse with her neighbours as the young guys in panel vans (Sandman) would toot her when driving by when she'd be hosing the front yard with her butt checks hanging out until these guys saw her turn around and they looked shocked as a woman in her late 30's was considered ' old ' then lol :lol:
Hehe no, Just Jeans does 'mid-waist' jeans, I bought a couple of pairs after having DD2 because I now have some savage apron-gut and need something a teensy bit higher than hipsters, but high-waisted jeans are soooo unflattering on me.:
I used to love hipsters... when I actually had hip bones and a flat tummy :/ Now I have to wear one of those big baggy batwing-style tops with jeans because they're either giving me a muffin top or falling down around my ankles thanks to me having no bum :(
I think it's more to do with the cut of the jeans and the fabric rather than them being low rise. I've tried on every pair in just jeans to find the right cut. Also a softer denim with a bit more give when it warms up might help.
I do love the low rise jeans but they are probably more suited to my shape now.
I recall the high waisted look of the 90's quite vividly and even more vivid in my mind is how unflattering it can look when someone is chunkier in the middle region and the jeans were buttoned up over it. I can't fit into my old 501's anymore because I am no where near as slender in the middle anymore but can't bear to part with them ;)
I'm a low rise, boot leg or flare kinda girl. No skinny jeans, and no high rise- they make me look like a midget.
Good denims are hard to find. No wonder people wear them till they go all holey.
i like hipsters but not low rise, and bootleg preferably.
I'm another that doesn't do low rise.

I have a pair of Jag 3/4 mid rise jeans - love em! Only bought them in October so surely they'd still carry them???
Oh, I hate the low-rise, too.
And to be honest, I often see people wearing them and think "what were they thinking?"

I also used to love men's 501's. Although they'd probably be seen as harry high-pants now, too.
I also don't like the full-on high rise (like in the 80s). Just a normal in-between rise that you can move around in, bend over, crouch down, and sit down, without tempting someone to deposit their spare change between you rear cheeks.
And yes, I loooove flares. I don't even know if they still suit me (they used to, but I was a lot slimmer then). But I don't even really care. I just love them.
I wear Mens 501s, well I will be wearing them again shortly when I've lost the rest of this weight.
There is an amazing 2nd hand store just near Covent Garden (London) that I get all my men's jeans from. I love the jeans they have in there.
I am looking forward to investigating and finding all the wicked 2nd hand stores like this (if they exist) when I get to Melbourne!
i hate that look! its so stupid! i dont mind short shorts BUT when the leg part looks shorter then the waist, it looks really strange!:
as for jeans i was a hipster, flair girl. but the only good flair pair i bought was in 2000 and i stoped fitting inot them in '06! (plus they where almost thred bear in places!) but now as long as they're not strait leg i dont mind but high waisted looks strange on me as i have a longer body and short legs so i look like i'm standing in front of a crazy mirror in them :lol: . but i have found kmart make some good jeans that have a fair bit of give in them and they also make longer tank tops to help stop plumbers crack!
Target's Hot Options Tank Tops are nice and long, too. I'm so glad that they make mid rise jeans and longer tops these days. The low jeans + short top combo was really getting to me. And constantly pulling down your top or pulling up your pants is not a good look either.
