i've just come back from grocery shopping and realised that my engagement ring is not on my finger :crying::crying::crying: -- my wedding band is but the engagement ring is nowhere to be found
i've checked the shopping bags, my daughters carseat, my hand bag, the car and cannot find it anywhere. i'm going back to the shops now, but i dont like my chances of finding it :( - Can any of you lovely ladies possibly "see" where i may have lost it

Did you wash your hands and dry them on paper towel at the shops? Could have come off then. Or at home on a hand towel or they might be in the kitchen. You probably already have done this but try to think back when you saw it last and go from there.
Could your DD have picked it up?
I dont normally reply to metaphysical stuff as I dont understand it enough but I got a strong feeling of your car. Did you have groceries in the boot? Could it have slipped under the carpet in the boot? I would really have another good search of the car.

I know what it is like, i lost mine a while ago and fond it in the big wheelie bin outside!!
So maybe check your bins (or get your hubby to do it!)
What about your handbag? We reach into them a lot, to get keys, purses etc in and out, so maybe it slipped in there, in a side pocket? Sometimes little holes can tear at the bottom of the side pockets and things can slide in between the bag and the inner lining?
Also, did you call the shops and ask if anything was handed in?
Maybe it came off in the parking lots when you were loading bags in?
You could put a little poster up in the shop window offering a reward?

MrsB - i actually only noticed it was missing when i walked in the door and went to take them off to wash my hands :( - Nah, DD def couldn't have got it she was already buckled into the car before we left for the shops and i ran back in to get my rings - ughhh i should've just not worn them:
Thanks Ali, yeah that was my first point of reference as i thought exactly the same thing, but its nowhere to be found in the boot, i even checked under the spare tyre in the hopes it had fallen down there, but nothing...:
Thanks Ella me too, but im not holding out much hope - the centre managment and the other 3 shops i went into said to call back tomorrow morning as they would have done the clean up by then:
FT - i actually had put DD in her carseat and then ran back into the house to put them so i know I had it on when i got to the shops, i only noticed it was gone when i came home and went to take them off to wash my hands and saw that only the band was my finger :( - i called all the shops before i went back to have another look and i even managed to park in the exact park that i was in the first time and there was nothing...waaahhhhh :(:

RhiChiChi - i've turned the car upside down, even took out DD's car set and searched that as i thought it might have come off when i was loading her into the car at the shops but so far nothing - i'm going to go through it again tomorrow with fresh eyes, maybe i've missed something...
its just weird as my ring is not loose, so i dont even know how it came off and no matter how hard i try its like ive lost about 40 mins of time because i remember walking into Coles and i had my ring on (i remember that because i was looking at when i was pushing the trolley) and that was the last time i saw it - when i got home, it was just gone :o
yeah, i actually got into the car started it and thought "oh, i dont have my rings on" so i actually went back inside to get them both :(:
What did you do this morning before you left the house? Did you clean anything out of the ordinary? Put make up on?
ETA: Just saw your last post... have you checked on the inside of the car in case it didn't go on properly? (not being metaphysical here LOL just practical ;))
LOL thanks Rogue :) - yeah i thought practically too and checked all the side slidy things in both the back and front doors as well as under the car mats and nothing :( - its literally like it disappeared - just soo weird..:
i spoke to the shops i went into (Coles, Big W and a green grocer) and no-one had handed in a diamond solitare ring....all of them have said to call back in the morning after overnight clean up has been done :( - Centre Management said the same thing so i'll just have to wait until tomorrow now :shakehead:
Dont lose hope. My mum lost her engagement ring as well about a year ago after 25yrs of marriage. She was devestated. It was more the sentimental meaning behind the ring and that she wouldnt have 'that' ring.
They ended up getting a jeweller to do a replica of it and it was amazing and then 6months later, the ring turned up and it was in those loopy holes in the spare tyre. She went through her car with dad 4 times and nothing and then she put it in to be detailed as they were selling it and the detailer found it!!!!! Anyway a bit of a side track but wanted to let you know a possible good outcome.
I really think the car still or on the path between your car and your house as you weer taking in groceries.
I think you would have noticed it was missing when you were strapping DD into her car seat if you had lost it at the shops as that is something fiddly with your hands.

Sorry, I don't know where your ring could be, but I have another story of hope! About 4 months ago I lost the necklace my husband surprised me with after my daughter was born 6 years ago. I wear it every day and never take it off. It is very heavy and I didn't understand how it could have fallen off without me noticing, but I woke up one morning and it was gone. Like you, I went crazy tearing the house apart and visiting every place I had been to the previous day (when I last remembered having it). I even went to a hypnotherapist to try to figure out where I had lost it! I still couldn't locate the necklace, but the hypno did help me relax and stop searching and re-searching... Anyway, a couple of days ago, my beautiful daughter came into my bedroom and with her hand outstetched said 'mum, is this what you've been looking for?' It was my necklace, which she found... wait for it... in the crockery cupboard behind all the plates and bowls! I think I must have got out of bed in the middle of the night and put it 'somewhere safe', I have vague memories now of doing it! Anyway, my point is... don't give up hope, try to relax and believe that something so precious will come back to you. And maybe visit a good hypnotherapist... it can't hurt (an it was a truly amazing experience!). Good luck!

I found a beautiful diamond bracelet that i had lost six months previous..... in the fridge!!!!! It must have fallen off while i was grabbing the milk! It was caught in the milk shelf on the door so wasn't spotted for that long!! I even hired a metal detector and searched for that damn bracelet in the middle of a stinking hot summer!!! So have hope honey! I think you'll find it!

in your jeans pocket? could have slid off if you were fishing into your pockets for something? on the bathroom counter after being taken off for shower? did you do a load of laundry? check washing machine and laundry basket, and if it's a front loader, check the rubber around the door opening, lots of $2 coins live there for me, and hair ties too, always a winner for me that one.

My mum always taught me that the engagement ring should always be the closest to the end of your finger to protect the wedding ring from getting lost :o) Mums are always right! It's just lucky that you've still got your wedding ring, that's the really special one

Aww hun - believe me i have maybe 30min spurts where i dont think about it, then bam its there again :( - i just cant believe how careless i was not to have even noticed it was gone :( - its not exactly a small stone so i really must have been off with the fairies :o:
Have you tried DD's car seat, where there is a slit for the seatbelt/harness to go through the cover? You may need to take the cover off for a really good look. (they swallow hairclips and tiny teddies whole!)

Yeah, we actually took out DD's whole seat out of the car and took the cover off so we could check all the little nooks and crannies and theres nothing :( - I've resigned myself to the fact that it is in fact lost and am now wrangling with my insurance company to pay out the value of what we had it insured for, which is proving to be a nightmare :(:

I was at the shopping centre the other day & thought of this thread & automatically thought of/ saw 'shopping bags'. Not sure if they are the plastic ones or the recyclable. Have you checked through any shopping bags you keep?
Thanks hun - yep went through all the shopping bags i used that day and there was nothing in any of them :( - I've "let it go" so i guess if it's meant to come back to me it will - otherwise some lucky girl is walking around with a $6500 ring on her finger :wall::
Sorry, just thought of it now, have you mentioned it to the police? If someone hands it in, it will more than likely be to them.
Netix - yep have already lodged a lost property report with police - that was part of the requirement from my insurance company :)
