Cailin
thanks
much appreciated girls
I do a variation of the spinach one which is yummy.
I pkt frozen spinach
1 small jar mayo (whole egg is best) approx 300g
1 container sour cream
I pkt spring vegetable soup
Heat cob loaf in the oven until warm in the middle and crusty on the outside. While it is heating defrost the spinach and heat over the stove / in the microwave until warm. Mix together all ingredients in a bowl.
Remove cob from oven, cut off top (and keep). Pull out all the bread from the centre leaving a shell. Pour the spinach mixture into the cob. Use the warm bread from the middle for dipping and the lid to keep the mixture warm.
I usually cook a second cob because the bread *disappears* very quickly.
I think I'm going to print these out before the gremlins get them again  Cailin, the Tuna one sounds so yummy!
I also make the one that Michelle makes, and it is yummo. I'm gonna have to copy the Tuna one, cause I have always wanted that recipe, I'm going to be eating a lot of cobs, either that or it will be what I take to parties for a while, so I can test out all of your recipes, YUMMO :)
This is my Grandma's speciality and she always gets requests to make it. It is so good. It has been a hit whenever I have made it, no matter who tries it. If you run out of bread bits, you can use crackers or anything else you like.
Cheese and Bacon Damper Dip
1 small round cob loaf
250g diced bacon
250g grated cheese
300ml sour cream
1 onion
250g cream cheese
Cut the top of the cob loaf and pull out the inside bread, leaving an empty “bowl”. Break the inside bread into chunks for dipping.
Heat some oil in a frypan and cook the bacon and onion. In a separate bowl mix together the rest of the ingredients. Add the bacon mixture to the cheese mixture and mix well.
Pour the mixture into the cob loaf, put the lid on and cook in an oven at 180.C for 40 mins to an hour. If the top is browning to fast loosely cover with foil. Once the bread is crispy and the mix is well heated it is ready. Toast the bread pieces in the oven for 20 minutes.
Dip the bread pieces into the dip and enjoy!
To speed it up a bit you can heat the mixture in a saucepan once it has all been mixed and then put it in the bread, then cook for about 20 minutes, till the bread is crispy.
Oooooh yummy. Thanks Amanda :)
OMG that sounds divineeee!
**bump**:shhh:

Hi Guys
I have fallen in love with those dips that are baked inside cobb loafs. You dunk the crispy inside bread in the dip. I was at a party where they served a really cheesy one that had like philly cheese etc etc.
Does any one have any similar recipes that they could share? I would be forever grateful...
TIA ;)

200g button mushrooms, sliced

Spinach Dip in Cob Bread
1 pkt Vegetable soup mix, you know the powder ones like FO soup & Chicken noodle.
1 pkt Frozen chopped spinach, thawed, well-drained
1 1/2 cup Sour cream (you can use fat free/light)
1 cup Mayonnaise
1 can Water chestnuts, chopped fine
1-2 days ahead: Mix all ingredients well. Refrigerate at least overnight to blend flavors. Easy, quick & delicious.
To Serve: Cut top off cob loaf, scoop out middle (use to dip) and fill with dip.
This is my personal all time favourite dip. I make a few different dips but this is the one I actually love to eat.
The one a lady a work made was the same as Kerry's recipe minus the water chestnuts as it was always eaten. So yummy.
The water chestnuts just add that little crunchy extra yumminess. :D

Hi Kate,
My mum makes the best hot bread dip, I'm sure I only get invited to parties so I can bring it along!!
Ingredients are:
1 x pk philly cheese
1 x sml tub sour cream
6 x shallots
6 x rashers bacon (diced)
3 x handfuls of grated cheese
(I add more bacon and more cheese!!)
Mix it all in together (if you dice the philly cheese it seems to blend more easily when cooked)
Hollow out the bread cob and break up all the bits you have pulled out.
Put mixture into the bread cob, whack it in the oven, about 180 - 200 degrees for about an hour give or take.
Remove the cob from oven. Put the broken up bread bits in for about 5-10 mins to crispy up.
It's delicious, not very healthy, but delicious!!:p
I have a real quick n easy one thats great as a last minute dip (no thought or preparation required!!!)
1 large cob
2 pks of light philly cream cheese (I use the light philly so I don't feel as guilty)
1 pkt dry french onion soup mix
Cut top off cob loaf and scoop out inside
Mix soup and philly together and put inside cob
Put lid back on and wrap in foil
Heat in oven on 180 for about 20 mins
Yum, but sooooo easy :D and great if you don't have time to prepare.

I'd like to make one to have at DS's birthday party.....it's so deliciously retro!
Perhaps one with spinach and pine nuts?
Also can I use fresh spinach? I have bad childhood memories of the soggy frozen stuff
I put different things in at different times.
Basic recipe I always use
Sour cream
Cheese
Shallots
Bacon
Others I chuck in randomly
mushrooms
spinach (fresh would work :))
onion
corn
garlic
I'm sooooooo craving one now!!!
I've merged your thread with the original Cob Loaf Dip Recipes thread for you allycat06 ;) You'll find heaps of recipes here!
Thanks Rouge :D
Hi, just wondering if anyone has any good recipes for this.
I remember trying one a few years ago at a party, and I am pretty sure it had Spinach in it. Oh and it was really yummy :D I guess if you had one that you know is usually a hit, I would love to know what is in it.
Thanks for anyone who might be able to assist me!
mine has 2 x blocks of philadelphia cream cheese
1 can of creamed corn
1 can of corn kernals
1 onion
diced bacon (how ever much you like)
grated cheese.
Mix it all together on the stove top, and then pop it into the middle of the cobb loaf and put it in the oven till the cobb loaf bread is toasted.
Our group of friends love this version.
THere is a whole thread on this somewhere - I'll find it for you.
I should ask my aunty, she does a really nice one - will send her a msg and ask, otherwise i'd be interested to see aswell.
ReeRee makes a divine one too........ hint hint share the recipe ;)
Easy Spinach Cob
1 carton sour cream
1 block Philly cream cheese
1 pack frozen diced spinach
1 pack sping vegetable soup mix
1 cob loaf
Grated cheese (optional)
Extra bread rolls for dipping
Hollow out the cob and put in the oven to warm/crisp along with the filling torn into little dipping pieces (plus tear up the extra dipping rolls)
Soften the Philly cheese (leave out or microwave) and mix with the sour cream and soup mix. Steam the spinach until hot and squeeze out the excess water. Add spinach to cream mix. Pour into cob and eat :)
:D aww shucks!
Now I'm hungry for cob loaf dip! mmmmmmmmm
1 x packet frozen spinach (thawed)
1 x cup mayo
1 x cup grated cheese
2 x tubs philadelphia cream cheese
1 x large onion, diced
3 x rashers of bacon, diced and cooked
1 x tsp garlic
Mix well and pour into cob loaf, then into the oven until heated through and bread has toasted.
MY TIP: use the tubs of philly instead of the blocks, it gives a smoother consistency. And mix together while spinach is hot from the microwave, it helps to melt and combine it all.
YUMMO!
