In my personal experience, I popped earlier, felt movement earlier, but also felt less movement (as I never had a spare moment to ponder on it). Also any aches and pains from the first pregnancy (SPD in my case) were amplified.
The lead up to the birth was less wondrous, again because of no time to ponder the amazing things my body was doing, but also less scary as I knew I could do it from experience.
If I could give you one piece of advice, it would be take 5 or 10 minutes every day to just enjoy your pregnancy. Stroke your bump and be amazed that you are doing it all again. Just enjoy it hunny
xx
Everything!! I had a fairly easy time with number one other than having her at 34 weeks. Second time was much harder, I had morning sickness all the way through, sciatica and an unstable pelvis, I also went into early labour at 35 weeks and spent two weeks on the couch. If it had been my first I don't think I would have gone for a second. This time I have barely felt pregnant just a little bit tired and now I feel movement to remind me. My bump has been small for all three, I felt DD2 move early at about 14 weeks but with 1 and 3 the placenta has been on the front wall.
Thankyou i will definatly make sure i do that! i was starting to wonder if i was going to enjoy this 2nd pregnancy just as much if not more and when i heard you talking about not having the time to sit and ponder it got me a bit worried that it would all be over before i know it, so this piece of advice will definatly be taken on! thankyou so much for telling me that
Black_rose - yep the morning sickness has hit me big time on my 2nd pregnancy - besides having regular progesterone injections for my 1st it was clear sailing - 2nd so far is a different story! LOL I hope i dont have all the other probs tho! i hope #3 comes on time for you - not early and not late ;)
Traveller has given excellent advice.
It's funny cos my pregnancies were different and yet so the same because it was familiar IYKWIM?
I was propably more in tune to the bub the second time around because you knew what you were feeling - where as with number 1 you don't.
My pregnancies were all pretty much the same except that with each pregnancy I was way more tired :) so just try and get as much rest as you can.
Regards,
Dianne
Being pregnant second time around was soooooo much harder - I couldn't sleep when I wanted to, I couldn't rest when I wanted to, I couldn't eat when I wanted to (you see what I mean?!) when you have a toddler to look after too you don't really have time to enjoy being pregnant!
Traveller has given you excellent advice :)
All the best darl!
For my 2nd I was much bigger, put on more weight and had terrible pains in my hips in bed. But psychologically it was much easier because i knew what was ahead.
for my 3rd i was really fit and well, so my pregnancy was a breeze and i didnt have the same discomforts as i did for my 2nd...so i think being really fit helps the body to cope.
My second and third I hardly felt any movements - perhaps because I was a bigger person than I was before falling pregnant the first time? But my placenta was also anterior with both the girls, so that blocked a lot of movement till about 22-23 weeks with them.
Not much else - definitely SPD kicked in far worse with both the girls.
Thanks everyone!!!
Just a few more questions
Will Braxton Hicks be more painful and happen sooner?
Will by boobs leak? i didnt have any leaking before B was born!
the only thing that really changed for me was i got soooooo much more tired every pregnancy
BH were never really painful for me but i did notice them earlier, but i think that was only cause i knew what i was looking for iykwim
I never had painful BH's, but then I never really had painful contractions either.
My boobs leaked at about the same stage with all my pregnancies, about 22 weeks.
For me the biggest differences were the amount of pelvic pain I had.
I wonder if I'll tell you when you are in labour again ;)
hmmm dunno....I had really painful BH with both and really leaky BBs with both...maybe you'll get neither :dunno:
Yeah I've been having really painful BHs this time round! Hoping it's a second time round thing :D
No leaky boobs for me yet tho DD still feeds twice a day and I never really had any issues with leaks and engorgement type things when she was born so maybe I'm just lucky!!
i had BH from 20 weeks with DD1 and from 12 weeks with DD2!
another thing is the after pains with next babies are far worse :o oh my !! ouch!
bigger boobs too
Yep my BH were very hurty from around 18wks - sometimes I had to use a heat pack. Not fun!
But apparently my uterus has it goin' on (I was advised NOT to use raspberry leaf second time around - glad I didn't - I only just made it into the birth centre as it was lol)
I hope you have a wonderful pregnancy this time round :)
Two different pregnancies here ...
DS1 - no morning sickness at all; didn't really show (or need maternity clothes) till probably 16 weeks - maybe a week or two later, had gestational diabetes. Generally a healthy and happy pregnancy.
DS2 - felt like crud with morning sickness, showed at about 10 weeks - maybe a week or two earlier :o, no gestational diabetes. I also suffered endless head colds, coughs and bouts of gastro compliments of DS1 being in daycare! Definitely having a toddler to run around after meant that when I was tired I couldn't sleep or rest when I wanted ... and the hypnobirthing prep was far more sporadic (and less of it!) ;)
The one thing that was definitely the same with both pgs was the awful reflux I had!
I've never found BH to be painful, and couldn't say if they happened earlier with DS2 but were certainly no more intense. No leaking boobs while pg with either son.
I found the BH were a lot more noticeable 2nd and 3rd time around. With first pregnancy I couldn't honestly say that I had any.
The other thing is that after the birth the unterus contactraction (there is probably a better word for them) are a lot stronger when you feed than what they were with first birth.
I found my two to be pretty much the same- less ms the second time round, but not by much.
But BH were much more painful. And after pains after labour were way worse.
Agreeing with traveller- take time to enjoy. It just goes so much quicker the second time round!!
def agree with this too - you also don't have time to obsess over it as much - I used to know how far along I was to the day with #1, whereas 2nd time, it was "uhm, i might be 23 or could be 24 weeks" It did slow down in the last trimester though, esp. once I hit 36wks and bub was well and truly engaged.
In terms of ms, cravings, food dislikes, etc, it was pretty much the same - DH was convinced I was having a girl because of this. I did get movements earlier this time, and DH felt DS alot sooner, but I did have an anterior placenta with DD that could have stopped DH feeling sooner. No difference in BH's and no leaky boobs.
this second time around...
popped mega early
flutters from 11 weeks, kicks and rolls from 12 weeks...and all of this with an anterior placenta :o...but i was also a bit underweight when i fell pg due to ongoing recovery from illness last year...so maybe that was why i felt it??
morning sickness
painful BH from 18 weeks.
so far that's about it LOL!
but in a weird way i am really enjoying this pg so far. mebbe 'cause i know it is the last time???
