My baby might be weaning!

The first thing she says to me when I get home from work is usually "BOOBY?". Today, nothing. We had dinner, and usually I have to fight her off until I have a shower. Nope, nothing. Then after dinner I think, here we go she'll be glued to me now.

NOPE!

Then 5 minutes ago I offered her some booby because she seems tired. And she cuddled into me, looked up and said no. Then went and brought her colouring book out and is sitting and colouring.

I always wanted it to be smooth and I never wanted to have her cry and me stopping her from feeding, so in a way if she is weaning now and deciding herself that she doesn't want booby then thats good. She doesn't seem phased at all. In fact, I think she's about to put herself to sleep. NAAAWWWWW! MY BABY! Where is she?

Make sure she falls over & skins a knee tomorrow, lol. Jesse used to do that on occasion. Refuse, then go for gold, lol.

I remember when DS weaned, it was traumatic, he cried everytime I tried to breastfeed, never felt so rejected in my life!

It's harder for us most of the time. Look after yourself and cry and scream if you need it. Fingers crossed she comes back tomorrow. I still clearly remember when DD weaned. DH had to come home from work because I refused to give her a bottle, LOL!

Awwww. She's just having a contrary day - I bet she'll be back with avengence soon. Just enjoy some alone time with your boobies

awwh huni!! I remember when Aiden self weaned- gosh I cried and cried.. it was the 5th Novemeber 2008 I came home from night shift and he didn't want boobie :shakehead: and that was it... Byron weaned last week and although it was his decision, there were many tears from mummy (and none from him i might add)

I was devastated when DS2 weaned. BF'ing had been so easy with him and I wasn't ready for him to wean (he was only 11 months and I'd been aiming to BF for at least 12 months). But I guess the upside was that it wasn't traumatic for him and I never had to wean him off bottles later either because he went straight to a cup :).

I know I'll be devastated when DS weans. It's sad when that special relationship comes to an end :(.

Leash - I've been getting "no-boo-boo", followed by a request for a glass of milk, followed by a request for booboo for a little while now - I think it's also that they are learning abuot saying no and making choices.
Total stopping may be a while off!
It may also be that Jazz is comfier with you working and returning home - so she's not requiring bb as comfort and is happy with some other form of "hello" from you - if that's the case then well done to you and Shel!

I feel dumb, had this massive cry and as soon as she saw me sitting down with a hot coffee this morning she ran over and said "booby? booby? booby?" :rofl: hehe it was only a very short feed, so I'm still sure she's weaning herself.

Hi, weaning is more of a process than an event. So , yes, she is weaning - but at her age not necessarily any time soon. If you would welcome her weaning you probably could help the process along. But if you are keen to keep going I doubt she'll be do e for a while yet

Yay for wanting booby today, I hope the weaning process is nice and easy for you. Fred has just turned 10 months and I really don't want to wean any time soon. I will be crying the day she says no as well :(

My son started doing this months before he weaned. He'd just have a day when he would refuse it. Hopefully she's a while off stopping for good.

My son did eventually self-wean and I found it hard as it was just before 2 and I had 2 as my minimum feeding goal. The lack of control is hard but I guess either he weans and I have no control or I wean and he has no control... so in the end it's nicer that he had the control over that. But I do understand how hard it is to get your head around and come to terms with emotionally.

:hug: Doesn't sound like she's gone off booby yet, hun. ;) My DD was down to two bfs a day at about your DD's age. And she kept going with those until 3 1/2, when I cut out the night time one. I don't know if that will make you feel better or worse! :D
