What is your childs comfort/security item??
Im curious as DD has just chosen hers... the cushion off the kittens bed (was only used for a couple of days so its pretty much germ free *phew*)
DS has about 5 blankets that he HAS to have when he goes to bed, the kind with stitching around the edge of the blanket so he can loop his thumb through the stitching.
BUT he is only allowed to take 1 when we leave the house....
the boys dont have anything..including Tank..he's happy to crash were he fall's but mini me...dame that girl and her stupid dummy!!!!
DS1 has a fisher price sea horse that plays music and belly glows.
DS2 nothing as yet but must be wrapped.
My DD has two items, one is a "Lottie" soft toy from the Humphrey's Corner range and the second is a soft body baby doll that smells like a newborn bub. She LOVES both of them and will not sleep without either! :lol:
My kids each have their 'baps' (and dummies :rolleyes:). They are minkee baby blankets. They both have 2 each, which I rotate every few days. I try to only have them for bed time, but they both like to have them when they are sick or upset too, and ours don't go out to the shops or anything, only if we go on a long car trip.
i've been hoping that DS will find a comfort toy/item but so far, nothing...unless a boob counts? :lol:
DD1 it was her thumb til we stopped that at 2yrs months, from 22 months til around 2 months ago it was apound puppy, but she doesnt need him any more :(
DD2 is her blankie :D i love that she has a blankie!
we went through a few before she settled on one (or maybe I made the decision not to give her any others :lol: ). It's a $5 stuffed giraffe from Best & Less, it's very cute though!
Before that was a puppy that DF gave me for valentine's day one year, she has now claimed it for herself! Then there was a black & white puppy that she loved for a while, then I bought her the giraffe when we went to Wagga and it was such a great soother on our way back home that I stuck with it.
Hamish has his "puppy" a stuffed toy his big sis gave him when he was born, looks pretty mangie now though, and a dummy..

A white fluffy blankie that is never white and is always so filthy that we call it her Immunity Blanket because it would be riddled with germs. I tell people it's because she won't let us wash it but really it's because I forget :)
I still have a habit I had as a kid and like to untuck the sheet, loop the edge around my thumb and rub my thumb in and out. I used to call it my tickly thing. Can't quite believe I just confessed to that one!
DS has a red puppy dog toy that DH got me for our first valentines day together - so its pretty old, and stinky, but he loves the thing.
DD1 has about 5 freakin dolls, a character thingy from strawberry shortcake series, and an iggle piggle toy. She sleeps with ALL of them in her bed. God forbid one doll goes missing.
DD2 has nothing at the moment.
ME! :rolleyes: When she was little it was bbs, then she decided it was just me. She likes to stick her fingers in my belly button or touch the mole on my tummy. As long as she's got those, then she's all good.
I'm kinda touched that she didn't choose an inanimate object, but it's quite annoying first thing in the morning to be poked and prodded so!
Liebling took until 13m to pick a comfort object that wasn't me, and only because the issue was forced because I went back to work. He had a few objects to pick from and he picked his Herr Hare, which had slept with him since a month old in the hope he would latch onto that! It does go a lot of places.
DS sleeps with Herr Hare, Kitty (a plush squirrel monkey), a polar bear he uses as a pillow and now his talking Spotty Wot. Spotty Wot is great because he talks to Liebs; keeps him in bed until he falls asleep!
Ds2 started using a cot blanket when he was 6 months old and he is now nearly 7 and still sleeps with it every night.. Ds3 also has a cot blanket which he started dragging around when he could walk (to be like big brother) and now he sleeps with it every night as well. He copes better then Ds2 if it is in the wash or we have gone away and forgot to pack it. Ds2 is ok if we do forget it as he is happy to have it replaced with a special blanket but as soon as we get home he goes hunting for it..
We have rules with the kids blankets though. They aren't allowed outside of the house unless they are sick and going to the Drs or we are going on holidays then they are allowed in the car. Ds2 used to drag his every where including the bathroom (yuck) so we put a new rule down that it was bedroom or loungeroom.. Ds2 also sits and chews on his nigh nigh as he calls it..
Now this thread has reminded me they both need washing so will do that today :)
My DS has a muslin square (the little face washer type) that he has to have to go to sleep. He loves to hold on to it and suck it. I've tried to introduce soft toys for bed but he's not interested. As long as he has his little cloth he's happy. Actually works really well because I have 6 of them so I can wash it every couple of days and don't have to stress if we loose one.
My DS2 has to have his dummies (*sigh*) and his blankie. His blankie is his old muslin wrap that he used to be wrapped in as a bub. Luckily we have two is all I can say! He loves to play with the edges of it, kind of pulling the edge through his fingers.
DS1 never really had a blankie, but he does have a stuffed dog named Pokie that he likes to snuggle up with in bed :)
DD is yet to choose something!
DD1 had nothing. DD2 has/had a cot sized blanket that folds into a cushion. It used to have to go anywhere she was staying, but its been waiting for a wash for a while, & she's not worried, lol.
DS still has the boob. He's weaned, but if he's sick, or upset, or tired, he'll put a hand down my shirt, sit it on my nipple & will instantly settle/sleep! He tries with my mum too, lol.
DS has "blankie" which is a knitted cot blanket. He became really attached to it after he had a really bad case of gastro a couple of years back. He can sleep without it but he loves it. But it stays at home as its too big to cart around.. unless we're sleeping the night somewhere.
DD has "bunny" which is one of those bunny heads on a cloth type things. Shes had that since she was a baby.
DD1 still has "Nay" and "Moo". Nay is a soft blanket she had as a baby and Moo is a beanie cow. She does not sleep without either.
DD2 has a dummy, a cloth terry-flat nappy, and her fisher-price seahorse. She would sleep without the seahorse though...maybe :lol:

At 3mths I thought dear god a child cant have comfort things right...wrong...when she was born I wrapped her in these cotton bonds wraps - now without it she whinges....
