The day I had weaned to only night feeds and went back to work with #1, so 7 months. But then, I was only feeding once a day by then.
After about 3 months with #2 ... and I BF for 14 months with her.
I think it has to do with how much time they actually spent sucking. #1 took 45 minutes for a single feed, #2 took 10 minutes at her absolute slowest.
Well they say if you use a dunny then you'll get your AF back quicker as the bf hormones arn't as stronge. I know I used a dummy with both my girls and I got AF back with in the 6 wks after birth;)
So do you use a dummy? Interesting to see if there's any truth to the theory!
Yes, I use a dummy. She has one feed during the day and about 5 overnight although they are each just a few sucks to get back to sleep. I'm still producing quite a bit of milk though.
I honestly think its quite normal;) If you're unsure call ABA, they'll be able to tell you:) 1800 6862686
Have used dummies with both kids and didn't get AF till about 26 or so months later, even longer to ovulate! Still no AF since January 2009 here, so I only had it for about 4 months since the first time I fell pg over 4.5 years ago ;) I'm more than happy with that, though.
It's probably the overnight feeds that are keeping af at bay.
I night weaned at 14 months and af returned at 16.5m (we were down to 3-4 feeds during the day at that point)
AF returned here when DS was 9 months old, but was 6 - 8 weeks between, so didn't think I was O'ing. Then after 6 AF's 2 weeks apart it stopped & I got a vey suprising BFP 7 weeks later!
well there goes the theory hahahahaha
wow! I went 9 months lol
Not sure, maybe see a doctor if you are concerned?
A friends DS is 2 in 2 weeks & she BF's & still doesn't have AF back. Everyone is different, I wouldn't worry :)
I just got AF back last week, so DD was about 4.5 months. She has a dummy, but I think what did it was that she hasn't had a night feed for a couple of months now.
x
It took me just over 17 months to get af back and we BF for 22.5 months with a feed over night during most of this time as well. I guess we are all just unique ;)
I stopped BF at 6 months and got AF at 9 months, only had it twice before this next one made an appearance though.
hmmm only 10months for me, and DS still feeds 8+ times per day including 3 times overnight.
Every body is different.
I agree, it's different for everyone...
I'm FT expressing, I stopped pumping overnight at 6 months, down to 3 pumps a day now & still no AF.
I am still expressing about 1200ml a day, about 40 min per pump, so maybe that's why :dunno:
I got AF back when DD was 8mths. (still breastfeeding)
full time BF & no dummy. I got it back 6-7 weeks
My cycle returned when DD was 6 months old. She has never taken a dummy and still feeds ~7 times a day with 2-3 of those being overnight at 15 months old. I think it is just genetics and luck. I do know my Mum also got it back at a similar time but she had stopped breastfeeding around then.
after 3 months, when I went back to work. Pretty much the moment I put a breast pump to me. He still breast fed 3 times a day right up until 14 months.
was 3 months after i had DS that AF came back...i was FT BF & he's a feed 2-hourly around the clock baby. no idea why it came back so quickly for me! no dummy either.
