I have had contractions every 10 mins. Some ranging every 7-10 mins for the past 10 hours!!!
Has anyone else experienced this? and how long did it take for it to progress to something more??

Could be pre labour or it could be the begining if the big event. It's really hard to guess. If the contractions continue and increase in length and intensity and the gap between them shortens then I'd say it's possible you're in early labour. Try to rest and conserve energy if possible.
Either way, your body is doing a fantastic job of preparing itself for birth.
Spring xx
Everyone is different, have you called the hosp to ask what they suggest, are they bearable at this stage?
Have you had a show?
GL with it all, hope it's sooner rather than later.. how exciting!
What Spring said ;)
Try and rest up and encourage things to die down.....another week of baking will do your bub the world of good! But if it's meant to be now, don't stress, just don't leave it too long to ring the hossy :)
I was always told by the midwives that if a shower and some panadol got rid of them, then they aren't proper contractions. I don't think they would be the 'real' thing at this stage, but you just never know - more than likely it is early labour and this can last for weeks.
I forgot to say that at 12pm i had a show and since then its been contractions every 10 mins. At 1pm after a full hour i called the birth suite they told me to come in with my bag and they would monitor me. After 2 hours because it hadn't progressed to anything even though some of the contractions were VERY painful. Had me in tears and moaning but because they hadnt progressed they sent me home and told me to come back when they are 5 mins or less apart or if my waters break.
But its been 10 hours of this! some contractions take my breath away others aren't so bad.
I've been relaxing all afternoon, even had a bath which made them more painful so i got out.
Make sure you write them all down so you can see if they are actually getting a regular and increasing pattern.
Have a Panadol and a warm shower like Trill suggested and rest up. They could be BH, or early labour, and given your earlier post about your show, it could be the real thing.
Relax, either way, things will happen all by themselves ;) If you are really concerned, call your hospital or midwife and they will give you some more ideas.
ETA: Just read your post above - I had a 36 hour labour ;) So rest up - if it is the real thing, it can go for a long time - pre labour can last for days for some. As I said, it will all happen with or without you lol so take the chance to keep resting, or whatever your body is telling you it wants to do. Keep us posted!!
Could you maybe try some panadol and a nice warm heat pack and curl up in bed, i know it's easier said than done but often it helps.
GL with it all and keep us posted... think when Z has her middle of the night feed i will be on here checking up on you ;)
Sounds promising hun. Definitely rest up and definitely keep us all posted
I found for me that the real contractions lasted even whilst laying down. So that was usually a good indicator of whether I was in proper, leading to something labour.
Although, with Anelise they went away each time I layed down and whilst laying down my waters broke... I hopped up and could barely walk because she was so far down in my pelvis! She was born 1.5hrs later!
I had contractions 15 minutes apart for hours, then half an hour apart, but really painful for 3 hours, then 5 minutes apart with DD2.
Get as much sleep as you can now, coz if it is prelabour, it could go on for a while yet. You can safely take panadiene forte to help you sleep if you like :)
You can lose your plug up to a week before labour starts. This is just a sign that things are starting to happen. Have a shower, take some panadol and go to bed - you'll just wear yourself out sitting up waiting for them to get regular and if they establish themselves overnight then so be it.
These contractions are coming even if im standing, laying down, sitting on the couch, sitting on the floor legs crossed... every 10 mins theyre there!
I'm about to have some panadol and try and get some sleep i think.
Will keep you all updated :)
Hang in there. Unfortunately I can tell you from experience that it is possible to have contractions for a number of weeks before having bubs. That may or may not be the case. Try to relax, have a shower, try heat packs and get your DP to give you a massage. Bubs will come when they are ready - maybe now maybe in 6weeks, and unfortunately we don't get a say in it.
Your body is doing a brilliant job and preparing itself for the pending birth of your bundle!
Good luck!
.... i just wanted to pop by and say just as Leesa above mentioned you are doing an amazing job and i'm soooo thinking of you, ... lots of hugs from me to you for now :hug::hug:
Just wanted to wish you luck :goodluck:
I'll be thinking of you & will check back here tomorrow to see if there's been any progress
xxx
I had 5 days of pains/contractions in the lead up to my birth....never really closer than 10 minutes apart....right up until a few hours before having DD. I found panadol, a heat pack and hot showers a real help. And I rested as much as I possibly could to conserve energy for when things started to heat up. Whatever is happening, your body is doing a fantastic job of preparing itself to birth your little one, so try not to get too frustrated (I did so I know it's easier said than done) at all the warm up :) Good luck!
I hope the lack of updates means that you are getting some rest. Hopefully things either settle down or progress for you so that you are out of the pre-labour stuff soon.
My first labour started just like what you are going through, I felt so frustrated and DS1 was born after 37 hours. If I had my time again I would have just relaxed, breathed and not expected anything to happen quickly :).
If this is it for you, I wish you all the best .
Hopefully you either got some rest last night or things progressed a little quicker. It's hard to know if it's the actual thing or just pre-labour. Did the midwives say you were actually contracting? With DD2 I had prelabour for 4 weeks, it sucked big time! But by the time actual labour started it was really quick. And this time round, I lost my plug a week ago, but not really expecting anything to happen just yet.
Hang in there. Look forward to an update.
The 1 night Z sleeps through... but i can see there has been no update so i'm ok with it now.
Hope your getting some rest... GL
Hope everythings going ok hun and you got some well earned sleep :) Hopefully not long to go now and you will have your little princess.
Rest up and stay safe.
hope that you managed to get some rest & that things are ok  try & relax if you can & let your body do it's thing (i know, easier said than done!).
Hey ladies.
Well it was just a full night of contractions, i did manage to sleep quite a bit but they were still 10 mins apart. No closer. At the hospital the midwife said i was having some real contractions but being not regular enough they didn't see any reason to keep me in.
I'm hoping today is a better day, although i should rest i have so much to do but i might take my time doing them.
Thanks everyone for your support and encouragement i feel things are happening and to know my body is doing what its supposed to do is wonderful :)
I am getting very excited (and scared) of the up coming birth but having you ladies to talk to is really helping.
Now although i dont have a post it chick or anything, those of you on FB will get an update right away from my lovely DP when she arrives so be on the lookout! (hopefully not for another week or few)
I don’t think you will last for another week. In fact I will be surprised if you are not posting a BA this weekend
You are doing very well, fingers crossed it progresses soon, will keep an eye out for your BA!
you are doing really babe xx
and you're right, your body is amazing and is working beautifully to birth your baby girl. it can be really exhausting work, but also incredibly powerful! what a ride!
goodluck... sounds like bubba is on it's way!!!
Will be stalking the BAs this weekend! How very exciting for you both! :)
Good luck and have fun... (so glad they left for you on time now!! lol)
Goodluck 1stTimeMumma hope everything runs smoothly for u!!
I'll keep checking for a BA this weekend! Exciting!
Exciting news!! You and your body are doing fantastically so far...keep it going 1stTimeMumma.
So nice to start labour in a quiet home ;)
Ok so they are still 7-10 mins apart. But as soon as it hits 30 mins past the hour they are VERY painful and take my breath away. The rest i can manage just this one is bad. Is that normal?
Completely...:)
Just try to remember to keep breathing. Hang in there you are doing great!
It's sounding like you are progressing. I would give the hospital a ring. The MW are very good at gaging how you are over the phone.
Do you have a stress ball to sqeeze or a fit ball to rock back and forward? Otherwise when you feel them coming perhaps get down on your hands and knees and rock forward and backwards to see if it helps. A heat pack may help too.
You are doing a great job
I hope DP is with you??
That all sounds great (although I'm sure you don't think that right now). If you can get some rest between contractions you may be really grateful as you may have some time to go still. Even if you don't sleep putting your head down for a few minutes will give you so much energy. Also have something to eat if you have not already, as it sounds like you are at the start of your marathon and you wouldn't do a real marathon without some food in your belly.
Good luck and look forward to your BA

If this is it, then what you need to do now is get off this computer and just focus on YOU! It's great to have a cheer squad, but right now you really need to be focusing on yourself and your possible labour and not be on here giving us updates and no one should be pressuring her to keep us updated ;) I'm sure we will all survive without hourly updates and just letting her get on with it :) Your mind is a powerful thing and getting yourself hung up on times and number of contractions isn't helpful at all. You need to stop watching the clock and let your body just do it's thing.
I think if it is feeling continual you need to present to the Birthing Unit for assessment. Good luck & just stay centred and focused on the job your body is doing. Sending you lots of support and encouragement!
Good luck hun. x
i'm with inanna on this one, when it gets continual head on in!
