But if it helps, my nephew's name is Alexander, and his middle name is Michael.
I like single syllable 2nd names with a long 1st name, and I love the name Alexander James..

Mel - only 31 weeks....;) (not sure on gender, but girls name sorted at the moment)
I do like Michael, as it is my grandfather's name (who had died before i was born) but it is also my BIL's name. They will have the same surname, so when I say it out loud it makes it seem like we would be naming the bub after him, which doesn't feel right.
I really like James too, but it is my nephew's name. so it is on the list for the middle name, but not sure. I too like short names with long names, but came across Benjamin before, and actually think those two names go well together despite the length.

I like short and long too. Our two youngest have 3 syllable names with 1 syllable middle names. First kid got a 2 syllable first and 3 syllable middle because I couldn't think of a middle and just used the same name half my family has :)
As to yours, my vote goes to Alexander Chase.
I'm not sure why but when I saw the title of this thread I thought "Alexander Ruben" :dunno:
