OUCH! Ingrown hair that I can't get out!

I got my legs and bikini line waxed 3 weeks ago and I have been following the beauty therapists advice to prevent ingrowns. About a week ago I noticed a rather large welt appear on the inside of my thigh and it's causing my legs to rub together. It's a now a very inflamed ingrown hair. It's almost the size of a 5 cent piece!

Has anyone got any suggestions on something I can use on it to try draw it out? Magnoplasm for 3 days straight didn't work and I really didn't want to go to the dr's. I know there are a few creams on the market? Are they just over dramatised moisturisers?

Stick a pin in it?

is there a head to it? if not use a really really really HOT compress (as hot as you can stand it) to draw it out to a head, then yeah, maybe use a sterilised pin (or splinter remover) to pierce and drain it....has worked for me everytime :)

Yeah, I'd get into that with a needle. But I'm a total picker when it comes to things like that!

Thanks ladies, it's in an awkward spot so I'll get DP to have a go tonight. Gotta love the fact they'll go gross stuff for ya when you can't!

Or, sometimes, if it has a head, you can tweeze the head and apply pressure and the hair just comes floating out.

Is it just me or do we all seem to like picking at the ingrown hairs???

lol, the only reason i like picking is because usually after you do, the bugger clears up and stops hurting!

The BEST one I ever did was a poor wee man who'd had work on his prostate and his testicles had been packed with this stuff (I forget the name of it) and I got to pull it all out!

Instead of a pin, get one of those disposable splinter removers - they are much more hygenic (as they are for one time use and they are sterilised) and better shaped as they are designed for that purpose.

I have my splinter pack ready lol. Those things are magnificent because DD had about 20 splinters in her hand and we got them out in 5 minutes flat

Applied honey and a band-aid and now waiting. I only have about 15 mins before DD wants out of the bath and harrasses me too

A soak in the bath might help to

you can get stuff called thars from the chemist that will draw it out

Thars is the best stuff it stinks but it works. Hope you get that hair out soon, keep us posted!!!

How long ago did you 2 get Thars? I have been in 4 chemists and none of them have heard of it. Do they even make it still? I used it religiously as a florist with rose thorns and landscaping with splinters. It's the best stuff ever!

Only this year, it lasts forever, maybe try an online one?

Yup yellow lid with a retro sort of look. Looks like an old "it'll cure what ails you" tin lol. My parents had it in the cupboard and I used it religiously! I think the ingrown hair is gone because i got about 2 out. The swelling has gone down but I'm packing pawpaw ointment on it still. It still looks nasty

I love picking stuff!! DH is mostly bald so when he shaves he quite often gets ingrowns as he wears a cap to work everyday! Oh the excitement when he comes home and *needs* me to clear them up for him :rofl:
