Hey guys,
We're thinking of getting Crimsafe fitted round the house - doors, patio doors etc,. There has been a spate of burglaries in the suburb next to ours :o
I hear they are the best but know that they are a bit expensive - does anyone else have crimsafe on their doors? Would you recommend it? Or something else?

We don't have the chrimsafe brand, another brand, does the same thing though. To give you a rough idea on price, for our sliding door going out to the patio, normal security screen is around $300, just under $1000 for the good stuff. We have them on all our windows and doors.
my friend got crimsafe for her front door. She has a double door and it cost i think $1k+ for the front door.
But i must say, it looked really really good! when we were inside the house it felt like she didnt even have a security door and she left her door right opened but looking on the outside you cant really see in.
We have non-crimsafe brand on our patio double sliding doors and a big window. It is great as we can leave the house open at night and not worry. It complies with the same Australian standard that crimsafe is made to, so we are confident in its quality. Looks great, and is almost a year old now and still looks like it did on day 1. We would love to get the rest of the house done too - great as we are often forgetting to close windows!
PS - double sliding doors were just under a grand and one quite large window was $300. It was pretty much 2-3 times the price of getting normal flyscreens put in.
We have them (not crimsafe, another brand) on all our doors and windows. They look great and I feel comfortable leaving windows open at night in summer. We got 8 windows, 2 normal doors and a big sliding door for about 5k (that was 3 years ago).
I got another brand put in last year & love it - espically after having to clean the diamond security mesh before we sold the old house which was a pain. We didn't get it on the doors (Doors were about $1k each) but got all the windows done for just over $2k.
I am in the process of getting quotes for this at the moment.
Their window screens appeal to me the most though, being able to just push them open in case of fire etc.
What is this other brand you can get?

great thread guys...have been thinking about replacing the security doors with this after seeing BIL's up in Newcastle....loved that the front door was wide open and letting all the light in and still private.
We'll be getting crimsafe doors when we can afford it! No idea how much they are but I know they are pricey.
Just go to any screen place, or glass fabricating place and they'll sell all different brands. They're all the same, and roughly all the same price.:
We've just had our quote done (they were very fast!!) and for the front double door, 2 sets of large patio doors, the side door round by the garage and the side door of my laundry - we're looking at $6330.
No idea if that is expensive, reasonable or cheap. What do you think?
Sounds right for CrimSafe, but I haven't looked much into the cheaper brands.
Apparently Crimsafe is 14 times better/ safer than the next brand down. Not sure what that brand is though.
Hmmmm, glad I put this thread out there.
We have crimesafe, and we paid about $5K for the whole house. We don't have any double doors though. So the price you have been quoted sounds on par with what we paid.

Yeah, that is why I didn't look into them too much and went straight to the CrimSafe... Been the victim of a home invasion before when home, and I won't get the same peace of mind knowing you can put your foot through the screen - not when it will be DD bubs and me home by ourselves.

This is EXACTLY why DH wants to get them, the burglaries that have happened in our area were mostly when people were home :o *shudders*

My friend got a reasonable discount but this is with shutters and she had to advertise for 3 months on her lawn

The company that we are going with already are giving us an 18% discount (not sure why - I think to prove they are the cheapest in the area).
DH wants to speak to the guy himself though, he wants to know about taking the old fly screens away etc and perhaps getting crimsafe put on all of our windows - we have louvres though. Not sure how that'll work or how much extra that'll add on.

I got two doors and a sliding door done for about $2300. Not Crimsafe brand but I'm convinced they are as safe and a deterrent. Its great to be able to leave the door open at night and have the house cool down.

We love our's. Reeeeeally expensive but I think they are worth it. They are awesome!! Not only to keep the bad guys out but also so our dog can't rip holes in them!! ;)
Be careful with getting a replica - some aren't as good. My beagle broke through my friend's one, ripped the screen from the frame and tore the door off the hinges because she thought I'd gone outside.
