[Vent]Leave me in my BF world - trying to drown out the S word!

Anyone else hate mention of the S word? After 4 months exclusively BFing I'm no where near ready to start hearing the S word & DD mentioned in the same sentence, I find it intrusive & unhelpful. Leave me to enjoy this special time with her a while longer please world & keep your ideas about what I should be doing or considering to yourselves. We are doing just fine thanks. In fact why don't you acknowledge & celebrate that instead.

I know I'll have to share her with Ss in the future but right now we are a great team, an awesome unit fully supported by dad/DH to do our thing the way we want to & we love it!

Absolutely Dusty! You enjoy feeding your bub exactly how nature intended for as long as you want to!! You're doing such a fabulous job!! :cheer:

Honestly what is wrong with people? No matter what you do someone tells you that you are doing it wrong! Your baby, your family, your choice, your chance to pretend to be deaf to the insulting people! Goodluck bfing as long as it works for your family x

You'll know when it's time - when you discover that even if you had 10 boobs she'd want more. Until then - enjoy it the way it is, you're doing a great job.

DD was 6 weeks old and I was asked (by a close family member) whether I was going to start S at 4 months and got :o when I said I wasn't going there until 6 months, my DH is super supportive of OUR decision as well :D

as for the S word - i smile at people and go "in our own time" a few have said "ohh but he feeds often" and i smile and go "yep. your point?" or my fav. "im too lazy to start right now"

your DD is still little. they bring it up just tell them the truth. you're boobie milk is cooler then their solids.

Ohh i hear you! People were mortified that I stayed away from S till DD was nearly 8mo.
Why the rush when bm is far more important, and S is just so much work!

:hug: I always thought of a blog I read called 'Cakies' - she didn't give her bub solids til maybe 9 months and her bub was the most adorable little bundle of healthy chub ever. :lol: You've got a good thing going Dusty, meh to those who suggest you need anything else yet.

Pft to them. Why is it anyones business? FWIW I think S only complicate things, bf poo's are so much nicer, bub doesn't end up covered from head to toe and there's no extra cooking/cleaning.

I'm surprised at how threatened I feel when anyone mentions S. I just looooove this time with DD and its so completely ours as I don't express for anyone else to feed her.

I also feel threatened that perhaps in 2 months time she may want to have something other than my boob! 4 months have gone so fast and I don't want this to come to an end. This feeling is pretty primal and possessive hey.

Loving the come back lines. I normally just go quiet and rage inside when confronted with S advice. Most of the time the advice comes from a good place and good people and I know they are just trying to help in their own way but it invades my space big time. xx

Just keep enjoying your time B/F missy, and who knows she might be like my DD and just decide that boobie is best - she's STILL not all that interested in solids and she's 8 months old! She likes to play with the food but boobie is what she really wants!

MIL has been talking about this since DS was 8 weeks old!

other family members are also asking when!!!! it is so frustrating, i dont want the time to start either, i love what we have going ATM and will miss that exclusive time once it starts! not to mention all the work thats involved and the freezer space issue lol

Arghh.. absolutely hun!!! Stick at it - as you said it is your special time. She is still waaayyyyy too little to even have the word mentioed. Some people just don't/won't get it! I never expressed either, when DS was 9 months I had to cause I went t o work for the day. I cried when I saw him with the bottle LOL. :hug: You are doing great! xxx

The other thing that you'll find when you do eventually start the "s" word is that it is not really about food or nutrition - it's a pile of new sensations for your baby to enjoy/spit out/plaster themselves with. In other words it actually should be rather fun for both of you - when you're both ready of course.
And it makes bugger all difference to the amount of breastmilk or the nature and intimacy of breastfeeding for quite some time. It's not something to dread.

Well done to you and DD, dusty, for four fabulous months of bfing! :clap:

Oh I just love the responses in here. Dusty I was wondering how you are and found this thread. I have to agree with the girls...with no experience to back me up. IMO it is such a personal thing...and hey i know of heaps of bubs that have gone much longer and benefited greatly. The world is so pressured...stay away from the pressure for as long as one can i think.
So good to here you are still out here hun and doing so well. You are a wonderful primal mumma....so incredibly gorgeous and inspiring.oxo
