Book list challenge on Facebook

I have to say I did and found my results were dismal for someone who loves to read. I scored 11. Another friend of mine also didn't do much better, so we decided over the course of the year we would read as many of the books as we could that remained "unread" on the list.

I have even taken the liberty to go and re-apply at the library and have 71 books in my online library list ready to submit one by one for picking up as I need them. There was a few books I couldn't get within the library system, but my friend has found a lot as free E-Books. I download a program as an add on to firefox so I can now read .epub extensions in the browser, which is what I am currently doing with the book I have.

So as it currently stands I have now read 12.5 of the 100 books. No offence to anyone, but I will be skipping the bible.

Anyone interested in joining in ? Could post our thoughts on what we thought of the books we read as we go ? So in a way like a book club but we read what we want to read when we can read them, as long as it is from the list of 100.

I only scored 6! There are alot of books on there that I've always wanted to read though, so I'm in :D

I did it... I think I scored 32 or something, I can't remember.

Chronicles of Narnia was listed as well as The Lion, The With & the Wardrobe, so that was a cheat :p

I just did the quiz and scored 21. Most of them are thanks to my English subjects in high school though. I don't think most of those books are ones that I would choose to read.

I think I had 30 something when I did it. I guess high school English was good for something!

Most I read as a child, There are quite a few on the list I have been meaning to read...will try to hunt down copies and let you know how I go!

I scored 21 - at least 6 of these were read at school as part of English over the years at high school (catcher in the rye, of mice and men, Animal farm and 2 of the shakespears) so that has boosted my number.
There were a few that i had seen the movie to, but not the book, but generally i try and read the book before seeing the movie so i know which is better iykwim...

Yeah i think that i will skip the bible too - not really something that should be on the list in a challange that is open on a world wide platform... although i note that it was orginally a BBC article started as this

I got 26... a few I have started and didn't enjoy so I'll never read those. And I don't think I'll ever read all the bible.

Yes I have seen the movies to quite a few as well, and like most of you the ones I have read are thanks to English lessons LOL. I did however read "The curious incident of the dog in the night time" as part of the BellyBelly book club some moons ago ;)

I read Pride and Prejudice last week, which I have to say I found hard going with all the "proper" English LOL. I am currently reading "The Woman in White" as an e-book and it has heaps of interesting twists and turns in it so it is keeping me glued to the monitor :D

I did the survey thing and got 30-something, so not too bad, but there are several there I *should* have read, and a few I have started and put down (I will NEVER finish Moby **** before shooting myself).

I just did it , i scored 16 :( I am in and most of them are books i have always wanted to read..Hmm war and peace is huge lol! I dont know if i can do that one

LMAO Lime. I think I'll be the same when it comes to Moby ****. Even the movie annoyed me. Glad to see a few are going to join in. Like I said it is just at your own leisure, read whatever you want from the 100 when you want.

The first third of the book is HARD WORK but the ending blew. me. away. Soooo good.

I got 49... and started but not finished another 13 of them for one reason or another. Some of them I really want to read.... others I think I would prefer to stick bamboo shoots under my fingernails (Ulysses anyone? James Joyce totally does my head in). The Bible I have read the New Testament but not the Old one... or the other way around, I can't remember I was only 12 at the time. There was a lot of begetting anyway :dunno:
I would really like to read To Kill a Mockingbird, A Fine Balance, Shadow of the Wind and a Suitable Boy.... so they might go on the list for this year.

There were a few on there (can't remember which ones tho) that I wouldn't read with a gun to my head.

Oh yay! It was my news years resolution to not read any more light reading chick lit books, so was going to start with some on this list that i haven't read! I scored 31, and had another 16 that i had started but not finished!

Anyone interested in a book swap? I can have a look and see which titles i still have and would recommend reading?

That's right - I'm sure there was another list that went around earlier and it had quite a few books that were more modern bestseller types that I had no interest in EVER reading.

I was happy with my score on that booklist - it was in the 70's from memory. To be fair - ALOT of the books on that list were absolutely crappy reads (classic literature or not: I mean Wuthering Heights just plain sucked). Alot of them I could attribut to high school english - I used to read the perscribed novels overnight, so my teachers took to assigning me a list of different novels to read while everyone else was catching up. (And then when I had read ALL the books in the school library I was allowed to bring in my own from home :lol: I think my english teachers sometimes ran out of things to do with me, and I drove them a bit nuts).

Much rather read sci-fi fantasy anyday.

Should I put names in the first post of who definitely wants in? Then we can all check in with each other to see how we are going?

I have kind of been doing this for a while (I think thats why I got a high score). I downloaded a free i-phone app that has heaps of classics so I was working my way through it. A lot of them are on that FB list.

I got 41/100 when I did that a while back. I credit it to year 11 and 12 3unit English LOL. I'd love to join in too but I already have a mountain of books that I haven't read yet that aren't even on that list. And that's not even including all the textbooks I need to read this year either.

Count me in too! From memory I think I got 30 something as well....
Not much reading has been done around here in the last 8 months, lol.
But Mr C is sleeping a little better so I've started to get back into normal routine again :)

Pixie, A Fine Balance is one of the best books I've ever read! Also loved loved loved Shadow Of The Wind too!

I finished Woman in White today. YAY. It is I guess you'd say a "mystery" book. Can get long winded in spots, but was okay enough to keep me going. At one point in reading it yesterday I even said to myself "what no way" LMAO.

This afternoon I downloaded Alice in Wonderland as an e-book. I have probably read it many moons ago and know all the movies lol, but couldn't actually remember reading the book. Reading the 51 pages of Alice in Wonderland was a breeze compared to the 800 pages of Woman in White.

So I have now ticked an extra 3 off from the 100 list. Up to 14 read. YAY. The adventures of Sherlock Holmes is waiting for me to collect from the library, so that will be next :)

I've read 72 of them but most of those were in my youth when I would loose days in the middle of the paddock just reading on a blanket. I want to go back and read them again, heck I want to buy a lot of them again as I don't have my book collection any more :(

My new year resolution was to delete my facebook account, so can the list be published here? I'd love to join in and read along with the rest of you.
