skin cancer removed today

I'm sore confused and SCARED.

i noticed a new spot 4 weeks ago, it was black and small and not a real shape at all

silly me went at looked at it with the dermascope ( skin looker magnifyer thingo )
and it was really irregular in shape and colour had no defined edge and was growing quick

so today i go to the doctors (first day off in 3 weeks) and he takes one look and gets that worried im sorry look.
I said it looks like a melanoma doesn't it.
he said yeh sorry, we will take it out with a biopsy and get it tested.

so an 8mm hole later 2 stitches and lots of tension and pain later.
now for the 4 day wait for results.

he is about 80% sure it will come back positive for melanoma, which means due to position, inner side of my lower leg I will prob have to have an op and skin grafts.

fingers crossed its not one..
im praying so hard..

just needed to get it out, as don't want to freak my mum out and hubby is at work like usual these days thanx to bad weather

Oh sweety :comfort: Take it easy hey? Get lots of rest, I hope someone's there to look after you. I have moles and freckles, I get them looked at every year with the magnifying thingy and every time I'm terrified they'll find a bad one. I truly hope it turns out to be nothing, or that it's quick and simple for you :hug:

i only do because there is family history of melanoma.
and i have seen what it can do if you don't.
i have 12 monthly skin checks thanks to being fair skinned and freckled.

but it hurts like all hell now the local has worn off lol...

and to think i tell people every day to not worry the pain wont be to bad.. ooops.

I had a mole cut off the side of my face recently and it hurt!!! :( haven't heard back from the results and it's been weeks so hopefully it was all clear. But i'm still glad I got it removed JIC.

I'm crossing everything for you that your results come back clear.

I have been putting off getting my skin checked. I'm just scared they'll find something. Very silly to worry when I should just do it.

Kawazuki - I just want to offer my support what ever the result. We have just gone through this fear and uncertainty at the end of last year with my husband. I made myself so sick with worry waiting for the results to come back so I know how you are feeling.
My hubands came back as a melanoma but he has the all clear now, we got it early but only just.

:hug: hun, I've been in your shoes not along ago, its so nerve wrecking. Is this the first one you have had cut out? If so, a tip for the scar is vitamin E oil, it made a huge difference to the scars I used it on and the ones I didnt.

I hope you get the best news possible on Friday, will have everything crossed for you and your family. I also think telling your mum is really needed her, freak her out or not, you need support over next 4 days.:hug:

I have been in the same boat. I had a cancer cut out in dec 2009... Months before my wedding... And If I didn't have it taken out then I would be undergoing chemo and radiation, if not dead. I had 15 stitches in my forehead. But now I am alive and well. The scar is a character builder now and vit e oil or creams do help the scar. So do multivitamins.

i only went in early as i work all day with drs who take these out and im the one ringing saying the doc needs to see you :(

I'm trying to stay up beat and positive.
but i know what i may be in for if it all comes back bad news as well

as thanks to the position it will be an operation and skin grafting due to the tension that will be on the spot.

It was only 1.5mm so very small

im praying my results come back quick and i will know asap, i have my mobile close to me at all times.
i may even ring the docs and give them my new number as well

Do you know when the results will be back? I really hope it's nothing :hug:

depends as all our stuff has to go to brissy which is currently under water and water logged

I actually read your thread the other day but didnt have time to reply but it has been on my mind so much. I feel really embarrassed about ignoring something as serious as skin cancer with my own body and I am actually so grateful that you posted about this.

I have had a freckle/mole (I dont now what it is) on the back of my upper arm and the other week I noticed it looked like a mozzie bite that had been scratched off and it actually started to bleed when I scratched at it. It is taking ages to heal :(

I have been playing ostrich (with my head in the sand) thinking maybe it was a mozzie bite and maybe if I ignore it, then it will go away but I am almost 95% certain it was a freckle/mole before so I have taken a couple of photos and looked at some examples on the net of similar spots and it looks like this:

I have called the skin cancer clinic and have an appointment at 12 tomorrow. I am hoping its just a basil cell one but at the same time, I am a bit scared of what they may say.

Anyway I dont mean to hijack or anything. I just wanted to let you know how thankful I am that you have made me aware of the importance and seriousness of getting these things checked out. :hug:

Like i said before i only did it because i am assisting drs cut these things out on a daily basis ad i give people the bad news :(

from what i see it may be a BCC, they may do a biopsy which is a little hole punch send that away and when they know results cut out a larger slice.

i pray for you its nothing more.
mine was black and irregular and had 3 shades of brown adn black in it, so typical Melanoma :(

will wait for official results.
and to top it off i have had AF for 2 weeks :( and lots of clotting and black blood.

Hoping against hope that it isn't melanoma xx and that if it is, that it is contained and they've got it all out xxx
