Generally they will fit into 0000 straight out. I say generally cos there are exceptions to this rule like 10 pders will be looking at more size 000 and 5 to 6pders are more 00000. It also depends how long baby is too.
So i suggest packing 0000 clothes, some long suits, some short :)
I've got 00000 clothes from Target packed for this bub, only because my 7lb 10oz DS2 & 8lb 13oz DD2 both fit into this size when they were first born. DD2 was only able to stay in that size for a week though. I find the Target brand clothes are a little bigger than some brands like Bonds. I'm planning to come home from hospital 4hrs after bub arrives so I only have 2 outfits packed. If I am to stay in hospital for any reason, DH will either bring up some more clothes for bub or s/he will just wear the little hospital gowns.
I pack 0000. Usually a singlet and a long sleeve outfit. Doesn't matter if the outfit has legs or not cos I've always had bubs wrapped in a wrap soon after birth.
I just pack my coming home out fit and used the hospital clothes :D Mine all come home in 00000
DS wore 00000 too, but for a few weeks.. He was 2755g, and 51cm
My bub was 2.95kg or 6lb 8oz and DEF was 00000... She still is easily in 00000 and is almost 4kgs.
I would buy maybe 2-3 00000 jist in case and if your bubs is that small, then you can buy more after birth.
Target has massive baby sale, we got basic white suits and pink suits in 00000 for $3 each!
Both my boys fitted in 00000 for a week or so depending on the brand. I took a couple of 00000s plus 0000's with me due to the longer stay with a csection. Coming home suit was always 0000. I haven't even thought about my bag yet but I've got a way way to go
Sorry forgot to add that my oldest was 9 pound 4 (4200g) and youngest was 9 pound (4000g)
Its really hard to give you advice mate, cos nobody knows what size their first baby is gonna be!! My smallest one was 8 pound 2, my biggest was 8 pound 11 - so they all fit nicely into 0000 - they were too long for 00000's straight away. (you remember the size of my husband don't you! lol)
lol thanks everyone for your replies!
Yeah I suspect it will be hard to give advice. I think Ill just pack both 00000's and 0000's. Do you think its okay if I wash them now?
I've washed mine...lol
Ookay lol Do I have to put them in like a plastic bag or something? Sorry for the stupid questions :/
I put mine in the drawers. Just less stuff I have to do when I'm larger and even more uncomfortable!! LOL
I used 0000 for the hosp, took mostly grow suits, singlets, mittens, hat, bring home outfit. and wraps :-) i washed them at the start of my third tri (i think) kept them in draws and my hospital bag, didnt use a plastc bag.
And 0000 only lasted 2weeks-month. So I washed my 000 stuff before birth as well
*sneaks in to squeal with excitement that Ahurani is preparing to pack her bag...SSQQUEEAALLL!...sneaks back out*
Well, neither of my bugs ever fitted into 0000 body suits....but DD was 9lb and 54cm long, and DS was 11lb 2oz and 59.5cm long!
If you are using Bonds growsuits, these are quite small...
I only pack 000 as a result. I did squeeze DS into a Baby Patch suit that I had bought for hossy, but only because it had no feet, so it looked like Shorts!
I normally use hospital baby clothes straight after birth, and then mine from the first bath etc in hospital.
This time I want bubs straight into a newborn nighty I have packed.
I then just packed 3 singlets, and 3 new Bodysuits. All are long sleeved. And 3 pairs of Socks. This has been what I have packed the last 2 times for bubs, and it lasted a 5 day stay and a 3 day stay.
Ok ladies please tell me if this is too much  I feel like Im packing like when I go away overnight
2 x 00000 suits
3 x 0000 singlets, suits
1 x 0000 short sleeved body suit
1 x 000 singlet
2 x 000 suits
2 x beanie
2 x mittens
2 x wraps
Anything else? Is it too much?
Does your hospital provide clothes? Stupid question I suppose since you have packed so much.. LOL
Don't stress about packing that much, seriously, if you run out of clothes, your partner can run home and grab some more :D
I dont know if they do or not lol I know they supply nappies lol
Perfect! Just some socks and I would do maybe x1 Muslin Wrap and x1 Cotton/Waffle Wrap!
I preferred singlet suits to just singlets and I used 000's although mine were 8lb 13 and 10 lbs so both only fit into 0000 for one week!!!! Depends how big they are but I would pack a few more suits, one poo or spew and they need a change! Also don't firget that if you need more of something you don't have you can send DH or someone out to get it!
I only packed 000, only cause i had four 8 pounders and one 7 pounder, and my second was 53cm long, so he needed the lenghth, and yeah bonds is quite small compared to other brands.
Once born our hossy dressed my kids in the hossy outfit, once they threw up i then dressed them in my wondersuits, u can never have too much, my kids were spewers so needed changing a lot, but i guess it depends how long u are going to be staying, and like said above, u can always send daddy home to get some more!
Also our rooms were air conned, and freezing so i never packed short sleved stuff, but i had 3 winter and 2 summer babies, i guess it depends what the weather is like where u live?
I think ur list is fine, i usually use the hossy blankets, less to send home with hubby to wash, but took a special blankie that my mum made to take all the kids home in.
I think ur doing fine hunni :)
My Hospital supplies nightgowns, singlets and wraps to use while in hospital and also nappies (although only pack of 30 usually), so for DD and also this time arround I have packed extra nappies as 30 per baby will not see me through a 6 day hospital stay (c/s) and I also have only packed 1 outfit each for the boys to come home in. Both are 0000 long sleeve long leg all in ones, plus a singlet and hat and socks and bunny rug for each. I have put in the same suit that I brought DD home in - except I have one blue and one white this time instead of the pink for DD - and I know the 0000 should be fine as it fitted DD perfectly and she was 7lb and 50cm so they will be o.k maybe even a little big for the boys.
Hi, I would maybe pack a nappy also to take bubs home in. Did you get a book or list from the hospital giving you a guide of what to bring for mum and bub? Our hospital gives us a book and the list looks like this,
1 cake of soap or liquid bath lotion for bubs
4 nighties or jumpsuits
4 singlets
3 bunny rugs
2 jackets or cardigans - in winter months
1 hat or bonnet
3 pairs of socks/booties
Clothes and nappy to take baby home in
Hope this helps, you list looks good, my due date is tomorrow, but am booked for a caesarean on Thurs, I have packed a few extra of each as I might be there for 5 days, and have a mixture of 00000 and 0000 in both singlets and suits, long and short, my last bubs was only 6lb, and they expect this one to be smaller. Good luck, did you want the list what to pack for mum? I washed all mine before hand and packed in a overnight bag what I needed and the rest put in the cupboard/drawers. I also bought extra toiletries for myself, ie, toothbrush, toothpaste, powder, pads ect, and packed them all, so in case by any chance I did go into labour (lol) I wouldn't be trying to grab stuff from my bathroom cabinet or having my husband worry about it, and maybe not being able to find stuff!!! :-)
ive well and truley overpacked, i have a coles green bag with 00000's and one with 0000's. lol its so hard to tell but u should be right with some ofeach. i also buy premmie beanies in the biggest size because the OSFM size u get at target and kmart ect always swim on newborns heads
If you want to dress bub in your own clothes or your own blanket straight after birth, pack these clothes/rug in your birthing bag so you can get them when bub arrives without having to pick through everything.
ur list sounds fine i am also packing a face washer etc so that i can give bubs a wipe down if need be plus i find people bring up clothes as well so if i end up liking an outfit i normally get mum or mark to wash it and bring it back
ohh can't believe we are all at the 'we better start thinking about packing hospital bags' - yay!!!
All the sizes have changed lol and when I had my DS2 he came home from the hospital in 00's :o He was 4.4kg and 57cms long. My smallest was 7lb 4oz and she still fitted into the 000 size so now you ladies have me thinking I might need to get some smaller stuff.
Forgot to say also, to answer ur other question, i washed a pillow case in softly with my baby clothes, and put the clothes in there, then into my hospital bag, that way they stayed nice and fresh lol :)
