I like it...I did not think of Forrest gump till you mentioned it! I think it flows well with the girls names too! Fingers crossed its a boy :) x
I love the name Forrest, boy or girl, I do think of Forrest Gump, but in a nice way, I think he was kinda special x

Yeah the child may get associated with the movie but it's already pretty old so by the time the child is bigger, the younger generation might not think of it.

Really like it but keep thinking " my name is Forrest, Forrest Gump" so I wouldn't.

I agree i think of Forrest Gump as well but DF thinks of Forrest Griffin the UFC fighter.
Which is why he loves the name Forrest as he sees it a strong name.
Of course it's up to you guys but how many people would get the reference to forrest griffin?
Mind you I'm not a Ufc fan.

I didn't immediately think of Forrest Gump, but it did quickly proceed thinking of some tv soapie character. I don't know what soapie, but that's what I thought of first. And then Forrest Gump, but maybe only because it was on TV last night.

I think of our car. We call it Forest because it's a Forester (of course :)

Sometimes a name that has had notoriety does remind you of who has also been called that, but then the new person you meet with that name changes your perception of the name. SO if i really liked the name (and had a different reason for using it) i would still use it.
I like Forrest and if your surname is not Bump of similar i wouldn't straight away put it with Forrest Gump.

I didnt think of Forrest Gump, but I may have after time, the movie is getting on and alot of the younger generation wouldnt have seen it, so I wouldnt worry about his peers calling him that

I like it because I love 'nature' names. I actually think of Forest Whitaker, who is a brilliant actor.
I agree with Kate's comments. Your son will make this name his own. People may think of Forrest Gump initially, but they will get over the association soon enough. I actually prefer it spelt with one 'R'.
Can I be really controversial here and add something else to the mix....
To be really honest, the very first thing I thought of (and I don't know why because (a) I haven't watched it for years, and (b) it isn't exactly "Forrest") was the Forrester family from Bold and the Beautiful.
Perhaps that says more about me and my long history of watching c*ap tv than anything else :lol:

I did think of Forest Gump but that movie was on TV last night.
I think Forrest Gump is such a huge movie that kids in his generation will know about it and the poor kid will get teased big time! Especially since FG was a bit on the 'slow' side....
i did think of forrest gump but only cause i watched it last night on tv! i think its a lovely name and tbh i wouldnt have thought kids in his generation would really know who forest gump is so it probably wouldnt have that link for him at school, you might get a few comments of older people who grew up when the movie was about, but at the end of the day if you like the name....use it!! its a nice name!

My mum used to say that to us all the time! Sorry, i don't like it very much.....but there was a good point made about the younger gen not knowing about Forest Gump :dunno: It is a pretty old movie, i doubt kids from that generation will watch it.

I really like the name Forrest but yes I do think of Forrest Gump. I think that it's a classic movie that even our kids generation will probably know so they may also think of Forrest gump, but hey who cares, it's a great movie!! Are there any other names that he might like along the same lines like Lawn, Tree, Rain, River, Field, Ridge, Thorn (Bold & Beautiful LOL)? Just suggestions....

I like the name and Whitaker comes to mind first for me. But then Gump... Have you read the book? It's much better than the movie (and completely different)
I like it as a middle name ;) My sister named her son Dylan Forrest (yes after forrest gump LOL) & he's now 16yrs old... it suits him & the girls like it too :)
His brothers name is Blake Valentine which the girls also like (he's 18yrs)
What ever name u choose will suit ur baby..... even if people dont "like it" at first, it will grow on them. If you both like the name Forrest then I'd go for it.... otherwise maybe as the middle name?

fwiw, we named our 5yo seth, df liked it from the crusty deamons bike rider seth enzlow (sp?) and i was lucky i liked it as a name! i was always asked when he was younger if i liked the oc that much that i would name my child from it... ive never watched that show in my life! so people will always just "assume" what they like.

Me too. First thought Whitaker. I like the name, my first thought was its a really strong name that would carry well as an adult. But I do think that kids will do the whole Forrest Gump thing, kids being kids.:
