babe once you have 2 the 3rd and more are just the same, it is a little hard multi tasking but you will and can get through it..
dont listen to others horror stories its not all that bad, of course your going to have days where you wanna bang your head against the wall but its normal lol
Gl hun with ttc no.3 and just think of your beautiful family with just the extra little bit of work cause its sooo worth it :)
No different from 2 for us. And we have 3 very little children. I still have to do everything I did for 2 kids, its just slightly more involved (or messy lol). It can be a bit of a logistical nightmare going out on my own with the 3 but I think thats because of their young ages (they are all under 4.5) but still, its doable.
It musnt be as bad as sometimes Dh and I like to make out because we're trying for #4 ;)
Just subscribing. I've been really keep to hear peoples stories on this. I'm in the same boat, tellytubby.
One of my friends says, that after no.2, its all the same, just more of it, more to love, more to enjoy. We're going for number 3 too, well at some point this year :) , gl and hope it turns out well for all of us!
For me it has been hard, especially in the beginning. I think it's because it was pretty much three under three.
The hardest part was getting out it took forever getting them in the car it took 30 minutes to put them and their stuff in. Now that dd1 is 3.5 she is much more independent and dd2 is too, they walk to the garage, (downstairs ) and put themselves in the car and in their seats.
I am lucky that they usually all sleep really well and are all good eaters. They are exhausting though, I get up at 7 and don't stop until 9pm by the time the house is clean and washing done.
I wouldn't change it for the world though. I love watching them all grow up so close and we laugh a lot each day.
oh great thread, we are ttc number 3 too and im really scared i wont cope so this is fantastic to read up on
i always thought going from 1 to 2 would be harder, going for 3 would involve just a little bit more multi-tasking i think. all the best!! :)
I had 3 under 4, I did find going from 2 to 3 a bit harder but I think it was just that there was more work.
The biggest thing for me I think was trying to keep up with the washing, I really had to make sure I was at least every second day. Seems to be never ending in that department. The car can get annoying at times just putting 3 little people in and out etc.
But other than that it really is great, I have 3 boys and they all get along really well (most of the time)
I had three little men under 15 months and am now pg with #4 which will make it 4 under 3&1/2. You have good days and bad days and you will always have people trying to talk you out if it. Do what feels right in your heart. One more child to love is not a bad thing! Good luck!
When DD (bub #3) was born, I used to say "I didn't know what busy was until I had #3!", and it's true, life has been WAY busier with three. BUT as she's gotten older it's all gotten much easier (or maybe I'm just used to the chaos now?). Having three is awesome! The dynamics are great to watch, they can choose who they want to play with. It's so rewarding when you see them all playing nicely together and giving each other hugs and kisses :).
I love having 3. And I had 3 under 3 for about 6 weeks.
I found it way easier going from 2 - 3 than I did going from 1-2.
Most of the time they all play nicely together.
Subscribing because as you can see I will have 3 under 3 1/2 by October and have NO IDEA what I am in for. All the prep at the moment involves small things like new car and bigger house!
We've only been a family of 5 (3 kids) for 3 weeks now but its actually so far not been as hard as i thought and have told it would be. I have found my other 2 are at a great age.. DS is 4.5yrs and DD 2.5yrs and they go off and play together all day while im with bubs. I can even tell them to go and get something in particular out of the cupboard or fridge if theyre hungry so i dont have to get it for them.. they will also help me with bubs.. if i need something theyre more than happy to help and go and get it. As for out at the shops.. bubs is in the pram and the others walk.. havent been out for a big shopping day yet, but i do have a phil & teds vibe which has the toddler seat if DD gets tired. But otherwise they hold the pram when we walk and they look after each other really well which is great.
So i guess it would prob depend on the ages your current 2 are and how independant they are.
I love it, the more children the more beautiful unconditional love they bring.
I have a 4yr old, 2yr old & 3 month old. The boys have both only just had birthdays so i had 3 under 4 for almost 2 months.
The things i find a bit tricky are sleeps and having to go out and about, we don't do a lot in the way of activities but the little we do i feel is important for social and emotional growth. I just hate it that i probably have to interupt DS2 or DD from a sleep to do it.
When all 3 are happy and content it's wonderful, when they get a little grumpy and you're trying to please them all it can get very stressfull. But you get there in the end :)
The thing i have found the most difficult is that i don't get any time for just ME anymore. I don't get a chance for exercise, too tired to read a book or my mind is way to stimulated to sit in the middle of the day and sneak in a few pages, i have the tv on when i eat lunch otherwise no time for that. The house and the kids take up all of my time. One thing i have started doing since DD arrived is a little bit of sewing i love it but by the time i sit down after everything is done it's about 9pm and a few hours of quite time is great but i go to bed way too late.
Don't take this as a horror story what so ever though, my DD is just over 3 months so things are starting to settle and i'm managing. I love it and i wouldn't have it any other way. It's just a reality that life will be really busy... in a good way :D
Like i said in the beginning the amount of love and happiness they bring is the biggest reward of all.
In a couple of weeks i'll have 3 under 4 :o Although I cant answer your question its been interested to read everyone else's thoughts/experiences. All the best with TTC.
As you can see from my ticker I'm having #6 but I have 3 older kids and 3 younger kids, so it is like I had them in separate batches lol. When Miss Frogglette makes her appearance I will have 3 littlies 4 and under and I sometimes wonder what I'm doing lol. I think I had more trouble going from 1 to 2 as well but you manage anyway you can. The more you have the less you worry about things like a really tidy house :) I find that they mostly play well together (even the older kids join the younger ones sometimes) and the house reverberates with laughter and I love it.
Good luck ttc #3
We have a 3 1/2 yr old, a 2 1/2yr old and an 8wk old. I'm not finding things that much more difficult. I think going from 1-2 was tougher for us. The thing that is most challenging for me now is night times when DH isn't home (working night shifts). I don't get much sleep on those days. But other than that everything seems to be going on as it always did, just with baby in tow!
I think needing to move made it more stressful for us, Ds was in the loungeroom along with the kids toys and trying to move with a refluxy baby was chaos. Luckily I all ready had a big enough car.
I have a routine of getting washing on as soon as we are up followed by the dishwasher.
It's just getting settled into new routines that is the tricky part.
I had 3 under 3. They are now 3, 18mths, nearly 3mths. I love it. I am lucky DD2 is a very good sleeper, sleeps through & self settles, 2 things DS never does n DD1 does sometimes.
Since having DD2, I now follow happy mum = happy bub/kids. I make sure I have time for me and look after me. I go to the gym 3 times a week and have all 3 in the gym childcare, its free and they love it now. I love going, it gives me a break, Ive lost 17kg and have lots more energy.
I am still a bit nervous about taking all 3 out on my own. I got the kids have a membership at the indoor playcentre and we go there a 2 or 3 times a week, they play while I have a cuppa n read. Its child-safe, they can't get out, run off or get into anything. So it gives me somewhere to go without having any worries.
All up I don't find it much harder than 2. DS and DD adore DD2. I wouldn't change it for the world.
Thank you so so much ladies.
I've just sat down with lunch and a cuppa and read them all, and I just about smiled all the way through :)
A couple of months ago I was so unsure about number three, but I'm finding I'm starting to feel confident about the decision, even excited :)
DD will begin Kindy next year (she will be 4), which will be a 5 day fortnight, so I think it will be perfect timing for a baby to join our family!
Our car is a Toyota Camry, I was worried about that - but now I realise I can get the compaq car seats which will fit nicely! And DD and DS will share a bedroom, which I'm sure they'll both love!
Wow... !
AF finished yesterday, so this month is our first month of casually TTC! Excited about what the future holds, thank you again xxoo
We have a 4 year old, a three year old and a 5 month old. (Oldest two were just 4 and just three when Rose was born). It's not that big a deal. AND I am now in my fourth week of a five week stint of being home with 3 kids and no car and at least a 20 minute walk from kinder and the shops. When I have a 3yo and 4yo kinder session on the same day and I am dong it without a car the juggle is a bit annoying sometimes, but not a major stress.
People will have horror stories about a single baby, least of all three. Don't let other people put you off.
And definitely don't worry about the size of your car! I have a tiny Toyota Yaris and I can still fit three car seats across the back! DD is in a Safe N Sound Compaq and the boys are in the original style Maxi Rider - they fit perfectly :D
That sounds like it will work great :D
Radically different for us.
Went from having a 2 1/2 year old and 9 year old who fight with each other - its been constant screaming since Miss 3 sprouted a personality and a strong will and stopped being a fun toy - to having a 10yo who hybernates (she calls it 'quarantine') in her room and a pair of littlies who happily play with each other, although the baby doesn't like being barricaded in the hallway by a wall of cushions and boxes.
Its quite dramatically changed the family dynamic. Its so much quieter since Miss 10 has realised she can just play computer games all day (after having had a computer for 2 years), so now I'm in the situation of do I try and get her to come out and do ANYTHING else (because playing simple flash games all day can't be good for her) or just enjoy the peace and quiet?
