Wedding???
I'm in full on wedding mode, 2.5 months to go and I need to do A LOT more organising!
I don't have a dress eeeek (I've picked one, just need to order it), but it's got me thinking. We aren't spending a fortune, and I don't suspect we need to in order to have beautiful memories, so what was YOUR most amazing memory?
My favourite part was..
My dad collects cars, we used them in our wedding, my dad drove one and my brother drove the other. After the ceremony my dad told us that he was going to go home with my mum in her car and that we could drive his car home by ourselves (he NEVER lets anyone drive this particular car). We drove the 1/2 hr back to the reception alone in his awesome car. It gave us time to chat and catch up, wedding days are so full on you just don't get time to chill, that's why it was my favourite part.
Good memory: We couldn't afford a photographer and we got married in the registry office, so all our guests brought their cameras, we met up at a local park, and they all took photos and emailed them to us - we have some stunning shots, none of them posed because we weren't under pressure :)
Bad memory: DH's parents had such issues with our low key wedding that they refused to come to our reception. They ended up coming, for about 10 minutes, and left just as my parents were getting there. They were embarrassed at the table decorations my mum had made, and mortified that we had it at a local sports club on karaoke night. It upset DH a lot, I wish they hadn't come at all if they weren't going to stay.
We went away for our wedding, took a few friends, our parents and my brother with us. A week in the snow. The whole week was awesome, but the best bit was standing in our room with my soon to be dh, DD1 and looking at the three of us in the mirror. There was this glow about us, and no one could wipe the smiles off our faces.
Also when our celebrant said you may kiss... I turned my head so dh couldnt kiss me! We did kiss, but no one got a photo of that kiss, everyone was too busy laughing to get their cameras ready for the actual kiss. In a strange way its nice knowing no one captured that kiss, its ours, our special moment, that was too special to share in pictures!
Honestly my favourite memories of our wedding are those that didnt cost us a cent..
DHs family picking on every aspect of it on the video, and my cousins DH throwing the wedding cake (a slice not the whole thing) at my maid of honor and hitting her in the back of the head.
DHs cousin bringing their 7 year old when it was no u/18s and everyone else hadnt been able to bring their kids.
Oh..you wanted good memories? Lol
The wedding night ;) we had an awesome spa at the B&B we stayed at

ummmmm going to the supermarket in our wedding gear coz i needed panadol so buy panadol before hand it was pretty funny
my cousin smacked his face on the pews in the church that was pretty memorable
my sisters boyfriend threw up all over the bathroom lol mine was a lot of funny things
except for my sooky father but thats a long other story
I just remember DH's jaw drop when he saw me walk up the aisle.....I felt $1,000,000 bucks!!
Well I didn't say "GOOD" memory..... haha oh dear!:
I don't have just one most memorable memory. Here are a couple:
*Sitting at my friends table with my DH and my really close friends and just laughing and chatting.
*Having photo's taken with my siblings (all in the bridal party) and my DH.
*My now BIL (then sisters boyfriend) who bent over backwards running around for us and doing everything possible to help out. Fabulous guy. :D
*My dad's speech. He is a great public speaker.
*My SIL. Managed to cause all the problems that actually did happen. ie, causing everyone to start walking down the aisle too quickly; dashing off with her kids (flower girl and page boy) before we could get photo's done; standing in front of the photographer when he was trying to take photo's of the cake (seriously in every single cake photo). But you know what, they are such little things that really don't matter in the scheme of things, and my wedding was seriously brilliant and fun despite anything she done.
*Going back to the hotel suite DH and I had rented for the two nights after the wedding. Believe it or not there was no hanky panky, but we spent hours in the spa together watching movies and eating chocolate.
My DH's grandmother felt unwell on the day. She thought the best thing to do was to stay home. But she got so fed up with the thought of missing out that she drove herself to the reception so she could join in the fun! It was so cute hearing her tell the story. DH's grandfather's face when she walked in was priceless :D
She has since passed away but I always laugh when I think of that moment. Especially the part where she really wasn't meant to be driving!

Seeing the look on my soon to be DHs face when the church doors opened and I started to walk up the aisle :)
Getting to the end of the night and realising we had organised everything except a car to the hotel. Myself, DH my step brother and his girlfriend and our MC ended up piled into a two door Datsun 120 Y. We got some looks when we pulled up outside our very posh hotel in such an old rusty bomb with a bride hoping out ;)
Thought of another! DH kissed me before the whole 'you may now kiss the bride' part. He fully dipped me & everyone was whooping it up! Was a bit embarassing but still funny!

my wedding was so awesome!! we got married in DH's parents backyard, and it was SUCH a party! DH built a pond and water feature which we got married in front of. we had a cheap photographer, which at the time was good, but looking back wish i'd payed more. she cost $750 cause she was only starting out, and the photos were just really posed and not very good quality....but meh, we still got some nice ones. for our music as well, we didnt have a DJ, me and DH just burnt a couple of cd's of all our favourite music and played through DH's soundsystem. heaps of people commented on how cool the music was! it was just such a party, it wasn't formal, it was laid back, and everyone had a blast. but im just biased, of course im going to say my wedding was the best :lol: but that was my best memory, just how fun and what a party my wedding was. hope yours is a fantastic day as well!! all the best xxx

We were bumbling idiots...our ceremony was pretty relaxed though and we all had a good laugh about it.
After all the celebrations just chilling out together in our suite, that was nice.
- Getting photos taken with my Grandfather who couldn't come due to health reasons
- My Dads speech - he kept breaking down (crying) which set me off.
waiting for every one to sit down for the meal and the best man was going to introduce us as mr and mrs so we were waiting outside. we had a pig on a spit, which was outside where we were waiting, it smelt so good and i was so hungry, dh go me a huge piece of pork crackling and i have photos of me in my beautiful white dress chewing on a huge piece of pig skin...mmmmmmmm....dh and i had a good laugh!!
watching dh's face as i was saying my vows, he never writes anything down and insisted he would wing it and it would be fine, he couldnt think of anything to say but i had mine all planned out...and he thought they were awesome!! :)
really the whole service, i cant pick a moment,it was just all magical, relaxed, intimate, beautiful, perfect.
Can't do just one.
Having to vote in a federal election in full regalia and my normally very shy sister dragging me up to the front of a verrrry long line and telling the people as she pushed past them, 'sorry but we have to get married in an hour!'....no-one said anything but smiled.

Dancing with my husband to my mum and dad's 'song', she had sung it my whole life.
Not getting a piece of wedding cake because it was so good everyone else devoured it, then cutting open the saved tier when our daughter was born only to find out it wasn't a flavour we had requested (ie fruitcake instead of the banana it was) and was awful!!
that people still talk about how much fun the had at our wedding...it was 9 years ago and we still get compliments!

The ridiculously huge grin on my soon to be DH's face as I walked down the "aisle" towards him. As soon as I was standing next to him he went to kiss me - got huge laughs from everybody (A) for his impatience in not waiting until we actually WERE married and (B) cos he got tangled up in the veil hanging over my face that he hadn't taken any notice of. The whole day was amazing. I know what everything looked like (including me!) because I have photos to show me, but otherwise all I remember of the day is fun, happiness and a whole lot of love.
Seriously, don't sweat the small stuff - flower arrangements, colours, whether to have this sash or that sash on the chairs. None of it matters on the day.
Awww, I'm in tears again!
You are all playing a HUGE part in helping me to forget the stress of organising it and just falling into the moment!
ahh there are so many!
- our gorgeous ceremony place, on top of a hill surrounded by breathtaking hills and trees
- our photos taken at the local rodeo arena, my bridesmaids all climbing the high fence in their dresses and heels (awsome photos!)
- the look on the guy at the bottleshops face when the whole bridal party walked in to get some roadies! (also great photos!:) )
- our first dance to Tim McGraw's 'It's your love' and the whole bridal party dancing and singing at the top of our lungs!
- our honeymoon ;)
our wedding was so laid back and relaxed, if we forgot anything too bad. Most of it was done on favours and didn't cost us much at all. My wedding dress was $2000 at the bridal shop but i found a similar one on ebay for $120!!
anyway just make sure you have fun and remember the day is about you and your soon to be DH!
When someone threw rice at us and I said "what the %*#$ was that?"
My excuse is we had a very low-key, student wedding. I didn't have rice/confetti in mind at all (we got married in a park and even forgot about music LOL!)
Our wedding day took place in 40 degree heat so a lot of my memories revolve around that! Having photos in my full wedding gown standing on a chair with a portable fan blowing up my skirt because I was so hot!:lol: attempting to drink some water at the alter of the non airconditioned church cause I thought I was going to faint and the amount of alcohol that was consumed that night because of the heat! Funnily enough there was no trouble at all with drunkedness because I think everyone sweated it out!:o
Watching my DH watching me walking up the aisle was a pretty special moment, he didnt take his eyes off me. I in turn had the biggest grin on my face - think Muriels wedding!:lol:
When we were announced at the reception as Mr and Mrs .... that was a pretty special moment too. Also being called by my DH as "his bride" cause as he said I have the rest of my life to be his wife yet only one day to be his bride. I really liked that part.

My memories:
* DH's nan and mum have the same name, part of our ceremony was for the parents to stand up to "give us away"
Celebrant said "Mr and Mrs Smith please rise" or something like that.
DH's elderly nan stood up cause she heard her name.... SO CUUUUTTTTTEEEE
She passed away soon after.
*Having tonnes of guests telling me how beautiful I looked, and being surprised that my mum made my dress, and the bridesmaids dresses.
*My dad crying through the ceremony.
*My DH's speech on the night- most of the guests were bawling, cause he spoke from the heart :)
*Dancing the night away.
I love that about DH's nan!
Seeing DH for the first time as I entered the chapel - I just wanted to run to him. And crying through the ceremony and having the gorgeous celebrant cover his microphone to whisper "Do you need a tissue" in the sweetest voice. Dancing with my pop at the reception when a few months before he was so ill he couldn't walk, but not only could he walk, he danced all day. DH singing "Liva La Vida Loca" as we danced and the band singer put the mike in front of his face. Us stuffing up our wedding song - we did a fancy dance and stuffed up the moves but all we could do was laugh.
You'll get memories after, from other people. My brother told me how he choked up. He was a groomsman and when the song came on that I was walking down the aisle to "Pacabel's Canon", my pop started to cry and my brother could see him and it broke him up too. I didn't know it was my pop's favourite song.
Have a wonderful day. No matter how big or how small, it will be spectacular :hug:

Best moment - Our bridal dance to Newton Faulkners Dream catch me...it rocked :D
Worst moment - Spending my wedding night sitting in the dark on my own in my bridal gown with a bottle of champagne by the hotel pool listening to the wave roll into the beach near by because he had spat it over something
1. We got married outside at night, DH and his best man and my matron of honours husband were there early to set up, all i expected was the place to be mowed and our solar out door lights to be out, but when i got there they had put hundreds of tea lights out and around the place, it looked amazing and i was in so much shock and awe at how much work they put into it. it was beautiful.
2. When i had walked down the aisle and my dad was about to give me away, he couldnt because DH kept turning his head away, was cause he was crying and didnt want anyone to see!!
3. Everyone commented (and still do) about how our reception was the most fun they had had in ages, and if that day represented the rest of our lives, we would be one very happy couple.
my DH had a spat at something too on the night of our reception, I ended up going out with all my mates while he went home alone. I still dont know what was wrong as he refuses to tell me.:
Our first dance. Everyone else ceased to exist and it was just us. We scored some pretty good photos of that ^^;
Good memory : The celebrant carrying our son up to my DH to hold. The celebrant's wife drinking my ****tail while we were getting photos. The fun the night before with my family as we set up the room with lollies (liquorice allsorts) as favours.
My godfather telling me later that of all the weddings he's gone to, mine taught him the most (we had a handfasting ceremony and the celebrant explained all the traditions and how they fit into Aussie & Scottish culture)
Best memory : The way the rose bought for me in memory of my uncle bloomed that day, and we placed the bud at my aunt's place.
Bad memory : telling my (only) bridesmaid's housemate to get out of his dad's car and ask someone else for directions cause I was due to get married in 15 mins and neither I nor my bridesmaid were dressed.
i loved my wedding day too- it was awesome and feels like yesterday even though it was 15 years ago
loved being all girled up for the day- i am not one for make-up etc and dresses but i did and it was grouse
my DH lifting me when we were pronounced husband and wife and kissed me lifted in the air!
our wedding reception was ace too- loved it all esp the speeches- everyone was bawling
but most of all i loved that i got to spend the day with family and friends- esp those that have since passed
i have so many precious photos and video footage of everyone enjoying themselves - priceless
make sure that you video the day and get as many people as you can to speak on camera- to hear and see our guests is the best!
The best memory I have of my wedding was definitely the look on his face as I walked down the aisle.
He looked so proud and I made him tear up and he forgot his words lol :) he made me feel like a princess.
The not so good (but still funny moment) my mum was recording it, and forgot to press record doh! Lol
Was a fab day! And then I got to do it all again in Bali for those who missed it (we had our wedding, then a commitment ceremony, worded like a wedding!) :)

My Grandad is a minister so he married us and in the middle of the ceremony he called me by my mum's name ... not once but twice (he is my mum's dad). He was a bit emotional and cried while he was marrying us. He also married my mum, my aunties and most of my cousins.
DH's Opa's speech that started 'If the boy could produce ...' (referring to DH and his fertility) we were in hysterics after that and didn't hear anymore.
My brothers were sent to pick the frangipanis on the morning of the wedding that the flower girl was going to drop on the aisle and they came back with a bucket of brown, dead fragipani's but then produced the happy healthy ones after I nearly killed them.
My cousins and I have this family tradition at weddings that we 'GROUP HUG' the people getting married (if we are related to them). There are 17 cousins on this side of the family ... but basically someone yells 'GROUP HUG' and we all run over and hug the bride and groom. Since we have all gotten married, our partners have started joining in now too so there are a lot more than 17 of us ... and I plan to teach my kids to GROUP HUG. We have my cousins wedding on the Sunny Coast in 2 weeks and I can't wait for the GROUP HUG. I'm nearly 30 and not feeling too old for it. My Grandad remarried a couple of years ago and we GROUP HUGged him and his wife when they got married too. My aunties all freaked because they thought we were going to kill him, but he was okay. We had GROUP HUGged him at my Grandmother's funeral a couple of years earlier. I'm sure lots of people were shocked because of the occassion but it is what we do and it is special. GROUP HUGs are good for any occassion :) I got GROUP HUGged at my wedding and it was great!
hmmmm probably crying like a big baby during the whole ceremony LOL. Im normally a rock & I don't cry about ANYTHING! Never in front of anyone anyway LOL. Im actually a big sook I just hide it really well.
Other then the whole event being special just because. I also had the little girl across the road tell me I looked like a princess *awwwwwwww* that made me feel really special.
