I feel so stupid

having to ask this, I have kids, Ive been in labour before so why dont i know!

Ive been having mild contractions since about 4, I went to bed about 8 and got woken up about 10 mins ago as they are quite a bit stronger and now coming from my back then to my belly where baby b is i can feel a lot of pressure/pain way below my pubic bone or maybe its baby a's bum it just feels so different coz hes breech?!
Also where my cervix is I have a burning senstation, its not exactly burning but thats the best i can describe it like i can feel it stretching ITMS
I dont want to wake DH, wake the neighbour and the kids if its nothing.
Contractions arent really regular in time ranging in distance from 3.5 - 4.5 mins, lasting about 20-30 seconds but as they are starting in my back its got alarm bells ringing because i havent experienced that with BH's and we cant afford for DH to take a day off work if its not needed.
I know none of you can tell me if its real or false labour but what do you think?

Firstly big hugs secondly I thought I was in labour with DD it turned out to be false labour u need to figure out of u can talk through them or not that's how I figured mine out

I was just as clueless with Ds as I was with dd1! I was supposed to be in hospital before stage 1 labour started but didn't realize that it was the real deal as the hospital sent me home.

The best thing to do is start timing and have a shower or bath (if you can) I found that relaxing in the water would help stop the contractions if it wasn't the real deal.

id be waking them hon and calling hospital for advice

Nearly all my labours where in my back and that was my first hint, at the real thing..
Could you ring them up and just chat with them and see what they can provide in way of info etc?
Could you have a UTI? an infection can run havoc on your body while pregnant..
I also agree, a nice hot bath and then lay down somewhere quiet and tune into your body and see how far apart,length between and during and pain on a scale... that way you can sort of see if you should be alarmed etc..

yep hot bath/hot water bottle if the contractions slow down or stop then you know its not the real deal BUT if they dont stop and keep ramping up stronger and stronger while obviously timing them then you quite possibly will be in labour

With DS1 i was induced and even though i never had pain relief i really didnt know what contractions where but everyone kept telling me 'you will know when its the real deal' i aint sure if i did i was in alot of pain but im lucky my mum was here and told me yep sounds like real labour!

My two labours started in the back, really bad period pain.
I would give your hospital a call, just to be on the safe side with the history you have had xoxox

hot water bottle is doing nothing but irritate me, the pressure down there is amazingly intense now too

called them, someone will call me back as they are flat out which would be typical for me to go into labour then they are already busy lets throw twins in there haha

Breech labour is notorious for being irregular and stop start cos you have not a solid head pressing on your cervix. If you have sense of pressure I would assume that you are in labour. If it goes fast and baby comes before you get to hospital the golden rule with breech is don't touch the baby until it is shoulders and arms out as it can cause them to reflexively startle and put their arms up. i tried a hot water bottle it did nothing but annoy me .... the pains not intensifying much at this stage just deeply breathing through them and all is good (for now!) i wish my waters would break so it would be a clear sign!

dont risk it- just go in and get checked- get them to chuck you on the ctg- that will tell you if you are cx or not!!!

I've been getting heaps of lower back pain and pressure down there as well, and last night I had about 2 hours of contractions but nothing that would get stronger. I'm the same as you that I didn't want to wake DH and then get DD out of bed for a nighttime trip to hospital to be told to go home. As I have an irritable uterus I am always getting told that the contractions aren't the real thing, I also would love for my water to break and then we would know for sure things are kicking off.

Still contracting more intense making me feel sick but still around 4 mins apart. A lot more pressure down there this morning too, the car trip into town was horrible every bump shot through my body
I have a hospital appt in just over 2 hours so fingers crossed it's the real deal and I meet my boys but I'm skeptical now I want it over so o course I'm going to think every niggle is the start of something

Sounds to me like you have a good chance that you may actually be on the verge of labour..
They may give you an internal, not sure though, but if you feel the stretching etc they might
Hopefully they will be able to tell you what's going on, and if I were you I'd be over it too!! Not easy having two little people making home in such a tiny space :hug:

because my son was induced i didnt know i was in labour with my daughter
i had every sign(cept for my waters breaking) but still thought it was BH i spent all day with her wondering if i was in labour or just having a rough day of BH

hopefully you get answers at your hosp appt xoxox

Sitting waiting for an ultrasound then up to the OB no change yet so I think it's just pre labour but we'll see I guess

I hate midwifes like that. I had one like that with DS2 she made the comment to another about me apparently being in labour.. well i proved them wrong he was born 3 hours later :D

That really Sh*ts me off...how dare anyone tell you you don't know that you are in pain.

I've had this a couple of times with Dr's and nurses, always to prove them wrong in the end but it really drives me crazy.

Everyone has a different pain threshold, experiences pain differently and reacts to it differently. Just because I'm not screaming and carrying on like a pork chop doesn't mean I'm not in extreme pain.

I had that too, but I could talk through them until I was pushing but it doesn't mean they aren't real.

My local maternity hospital told me I wasn't in pain when I went in there in threatened pre term labour.
At 28 weeks I felt like I was having a massive period. But, no, there's no tightenings - you're not in labour. They were all down low, not where they put the disk on my belly. My uterus wasn''t even up that high!!
31 weeks my back was cramping for about 30-40 seconds at a time and hurting like biatch, but I wasn't in pain or anything, apparently, because it wasn't showing up on the CTG.
Mind you, they flew me to Melbourne anyway. lol, but by the time I got there everything had basically stopped. But I was still getting back pains and period pains.

Keep strong, honey! You'll get there.

Yeah Charlotte had the steroids a few weeks ago still sitting and waiting, 3 more weeks max and it will all be over .... If I keep reminding myself it may make it all better lol just wish I could still function normally I have my MIL out at my house now complaining about the mess, hello I can hardly do it I can barely walk ffs!

You should ask for more steriods, they only take a few hours to work. It'll help the bubbas alot.
I had a round at 28 weeks and then at 31 weeks. So you should be OK to have some more.

I'd definately ask for more...

I had a couple of them...fortunately my ctx showd up on the CTG because I was told I didn't look like I was in pain *sheesh*

They do not tend to administer steroids after 34 weeks because they do not seem to make much difference to the babies lungs.
