Newborn, co-sleeping and...DTD?

How do you do it?? (Pun intended lol! ;) ) Aside from DTD in places other than the bedroom...do people DTD (or do other intimate things) with their baby in the same room, or are DH and I just weird freaks? :redface: DD sleeps in bed with us, usually between us, but we have a cot set up with on side down and against our bed that we occasionally put her in when we are watching telly in bed and she's sleeping. We haven't DTD yet since she's been born, but have fooled around once or twice, and we had DD just sleeping in her cot. Attempted a few other times, but nothing kills the mood like a grumbly baby LOL!! how does co-sleeping and DTD work for everyone else (as I said, aside from doing it in other rooms...)

wow, you must have recovered well from labour, congratulations. If you're thinking this way, your body must be back to normal - already, wow. I'm in awe.

DD is 2, and still sleeps in our room. we just make sure she's not actually in our bed at the time - she goes in her cot for those times (we part time co-sleep still). if we've all been in bed and snuggling starts to become more intimate, we hit the brakes for 30 seconds to move her. obviously we have to be aware of how much noise is being made so we don't wake her - as you said, nothing kills the mood like a bub waking up! - but it's never really been a drama for us. we do tend to spend time in other rooms if we don't want to play the quiet game - i guess that's the advantage of living in a bigger house - we can always find somewhere lol

we had the same set up you describe, we DTD with DS asleep. these days its other rooms :/

We just put bub into the cot when they were that little. But I won't DTD with either of my bigger kids in the room anymore. They're too big now, and can tell people stuff lol!

while my older 2 didnt sleep in our bed they still shared our room
as newborns we just had them in the bassinette as they got older we used to move the bassinette outta the room and when our son was in the cot we did it in other rooms
our kids only stayed in our room til 6 months

Gigi, I feel so good, I'm amazed! Pregnancy pretty much killed my libido so it's nice to have it back. I'm still spotting a bit though, I thought the bleeding had completely stopped, but there's still a little bit, so we're going to wait until that stops (which is killing me!!) but wanted to know what others do...just in case ;)

We've DTD once since Amelia was born, and that was with her sleeping on one side of the bed with us on the other. Twas a little strange :lol:

We have DTD with our DD asleep in the bed (she is now 13weeks) but I made sure she was on the opposite side of the bed and only ever when she was fast asleep. Most of the times she is asleep in the pram or on the lounge so its not an issue. I'm sure the poor little thing is use to the rocking from the pregnancy lol.

When he was little we used to put DS in the cot that was set up in our room (that he very rarely slept in!) and cover the side of it with a blanket so we couldn't see him, or him see us! As he got older we just went to another room or wait til he is fast asleep in his little toddler bed, which is still in our room.

DS usually sleeps in his cot, so we just be quiet, if we're co-sleeping then we leave him in bed and get down on the floor. We're classy like that.

We have never DTD while DD was co-sleeping and sleeping in our room. She was for 18 months. We usually just DTD around the house. We were both just too uncomfortable with her being right there...

When DD was a newborn we had her in her bassinet next to the bed but yes a grumbly baby is such a mood killer. We DTD once with her in our bed and that was awkward so we havent since. And since shes been sleeping in our bed lately we rarely to never get the chance so we wait until shes asleep during the day lol

And sounds like your recovering well. I only bled for 2 weeks after DD but didnt DTD until 5 weeks after i was too scared because i tore quite bad.

:hug: LMS. I had a teeny tiny graze apparently, but I never noticed it, I think it must be healed by now. Only reason we're not going for it now is I'm scared of infection, we DTD about a week after a d&c with our first m/c and I got an infection :( So as much as we're dying over here, it's 'alternative' measures until I stop spotting...well, that's the plan ;) Something about seeing DH as a daddy is so damn sexy!

I must be in the minority - we DTD with DD in the bed, and same when DS was little. When they're asleep, they're out cold and we don't get weirded out by it. By the same token, I haven't had the loud, groany sex I prefer to have in aaaaaaaaages...

I get paranoid about DD1 hearing us from her room.. And I have to admit its not a day Im looking forward to when she comments on noises or what not :lol:

With both girls we would be quiet when dtd when they were in their cots. With DD1 she share a room with us (at one stage we had a different bed to her, then for 6months our beds were pushed up against each other) after her cot days and we would just make sure she was in a deep sleep, in her bed (when the beds were pushed together) and we just tried to make sure we didnt wake her up...

GL with it though it can be fun finding ways to dtd without waking the children, enjoy :D

We don't DTD with DS2 in our bed.

On odd occasion I can put him down in cot asleep and stay asleep we will DTD in our bed.

DS is 5 and has never mentioned noises or anything like that! Because DP is less than demonstrative during the day, the kids tend to look a bit alarmed if they see us hugging (usually when I've accosted DP in a clinch and forced him from his comfort zone of distance!), so there would definitely have been indications of 'trauma' by now if DTD with them in bed were an issue for them LOL

I don't feel comfortable DTD in the same room as DD. Isn't that what people go to jail for? ;)

Around the house works fine. We'll get our bed back sometime in the next 16 years I'm sure. :D

Yep - no way can I DTD with my son (or any child) in the bed. Actually, the thought of it makes me feel ill. Never something i could do.

we go around the house, but usually Jack's in his cot in his room for day naps, so we have our bed.

THIS is why I have been hanging out for a new house for the last year.

Mr 1 wakes up and demands food if you breathe too loudly or roll over too loudly so can't do anything in the same room as him (he wakes every 1-2 hours at night regardless), and there point blank isn't anywhere else. Bathroom is too cold at night and during the day you can't even have a shower on your own without Miss 3 wanting to use the toilet. The lounge is out, Miss 10's room opens onto it and she tends to randomly pop out at night to go to the toilet. So our only child-free time would be the 30 minute nap Mr 1 has while Miss 3 is at daycare on Thursday afternoons and Miss 10 is at school.

I really really really really really really want a house where Mr 1 has his own bedroom and we have a separate toilet. Really want. Would do anything for. But you tried building a house in less than 18 months? Not possible, apparently, and they wouldn't give us enough money to buy an existing house so building was our only option :(

Well, we ended up DTD last night :p So could not hold out. DD was sound asleep in her cot, and we moved down the other end of the bed. Wasn't an issue, and we both had the best sleep ever afterwards :lol:

We had a cot in our room which DS only ever slept in a hand full of times for an hour or so. We DTD once while he was in the room but in the cot. I did feel weird about it and we didn't do it again. We may be in a unique situation where dh is home heaps so we can muck around during the day while DS is having his nap. I'm too stuffed by the end of the day to do anything at night anyway lol
