we have one for DD2 and have found it to be what we wanted. she has 5 teeth now and not once has she seemed bothered/swollen etc etc. whereas DD1 would down panadol or bonjela, we just havent had to use it or even think of it.
i got hers from an independent baby store near my place (was $35)
i swear by them- DS2 has gotten through teething without a mumble with his teething necklace on. I actually notice it when i take it off rather than when he has it on. It is also ace to help with nappy rash and that dribble rash they get around their mouths.
Love love love them. Miss 3 has gotten a mouth full of teeth with no medicinal pain relief at all & has been wearing one since she was around 4 months old. I understand she might just be an easy teether but I didn't want to take the risk & remove her necklace. Plus she loves it so that's a bonus ;)
I think they're very pretty....but they didn't do anything to help with teething here. HTH.
My DD2 has been wearing one since 4 months old & teething has been no probs at all. We only take it off for bath/swimming. Got ours from bambeado :)

I reckon you should give them a go, what's the harm really! I have heard for some babies they work and others they don't so I guess you won't know until you try!
I got mine on eBay. Just check out the listings and feedback and see which one you feel most comfortable with as most of the sellers have authenticity tags that come with them (to be 100% it's genuine amber).
Good luck & I hope it works for your bub!

I think they work hun. DS has been wearing one since about 7 months old (late teether) but he's been hardly needing panadol/nurofen with it on and he's currently getting his big molars. I got mine from amberbabe. I only take it off for bath & swimming.
Love them! Dd just got her first 2 teeth and it was nowhere near as bad as I expected. I got it from Mumma Rocks! Baby safe products for the modern mum.
i have used one for ds3 and ds4 ds3 wore his from 4months till 18months 24/7 till i had to take it off for preschool and he never had panadol/bonjella it worked wonders with him
ds4 has been wearing his since 4months (1 next week) and has cut 5 teeth and hasnt had panadol/bonjella yet
Would love to think that they worked, but can't say I found it much help with DS.
Ds has been wearing one since about 5 months, cut 10 teeth (including two molars) and we haven't had any issues, no pain relief etc
As sarah said, he might be an easy teether but I'm not willing to risk taking it off
I used one for DS and will for this bub too.
He had his on from birth until 13months (when he already had 20 teeth) He didn't have a single tooth until 9months either and our lives were never significantly interrupted.
However saying that i had never heard of them when DD was small and she went through a patch when she got 11 teeth in a fortnight and I  never even noticed.
They look better than they function, as far as I am concerned!.... mind you every child is different ;)
Just put ours back on him again as 2nd year molars are rearing their ugly heads. Got mine from amberbebe. When you go ontotheir website they list all their suppliers so hopefully there would be one near you. Even if they don't work they don't do any harm and look pretty cool too IMHO.
Well I got DDs after she got about 10 teeth in a couple of months - think I missed the boat with that one!! She since has had four molars come through with no problems, but she was older so I'm not sure whether she coped better because if age or the necklace. She's over two now and still wears it, is very proud of it although kids at playgroup love to grab and pull it so just be a bit careful with that. So yeah I'm not sure whether it did anything BUT I will get one for the new baby before his/ her teeth come through, can't hurt and might help!
DD2 has been wearing hers for months. She has just cut her first two teeth and has been a bit grizzly but hasn't needed any Panadol or Bonjela. Like the others said, who knows if it works, it can't hurt! I never take DD's off, she wears it in the bath and the shower.
Someone mentioned nappy and dribble rash, I hadn't considered that. DD2 has the most amazing skin, people actually comment on it. Never had nappy rash, dribble rash or cradle cap. Maybe the necklace??
If nothing else, they are a great conversation starter... everywhere I go I end up telling people about them. My story goes like this, "It is pretty, it's actually an amber teething necklace. It's fossilized tree sap from a Lithuaniun pine tree. I'm quite sure it was harvested at midnight, by a flaxen haired virgin. It secretes an oil into her skin which is supposed to act as a natural analgesic and reduce excess salivation." At this point people look at me like I'm a surprising weed smokin', incense burnin', hemp wearin' hippie!!
LOVE IT!!!! DD2 had 16 teeth by her first birthday and never had any medication to help with pain because she didnt need it!! And she's never been a dribbler either, i didnt realise the necklace helped with that! thanks nickle
JJ has been wearing his since he started teething and he is nearly 3! I can't take it off him, he looks so cute and we are so used to seeing it on him for so long! It's really hard to say whether it helps or not, because you don't know what they would have been like teething without it but I don't remember using bonjela with him at all and no sleepless nights etc. Whether it helped or not I don't know but I do know that he didn't seem to be bothered about them coming through and at one point he cut 4 at once! :o I think they are worth the investment!
I just bought one today so hoping it works for my DD as she's been having a bit of a rough time. Her gums are swollen and cheeks bright red (she looks like the vegemite kid) and has a nappy rash that comes and goes. Is it necessary that I take it off for swimming and baths or can I leave it on 24/7?
Some people take them off for naps, baths etc. but we have always left it on 24/7 without any hassles.
I swear by ours! Both my sons have had no problem with teething whatsoever! But we do co sleep and feed on demand so I believe that also soothes babies when teething. But I am not taking them off the boys as I really do believe they have helped.
what harm can it be to try :) Oh and we leave them on the boys even for sleeping.
We do the same as Tan, it stays on 24/7. That said we bought ours on ebay & after two years we had a bead crack in half when little miss bit into it, so they might become a bit brittle from the water (and it was a cheap-ish one). We just bought another & it's been going strong now.
yeah have to say that i have never taken DD2s off...
I get comments all the time on how cute it looks & where did I get the necklace from. People are always interested. So apart from working it looks so darn cute.
DS2 has been wearing his 24/7 since about 4 months, I can't say it's made a difference as he didn't have teeth prior to wearing it but I can't remember buying a tube of teething gel yet!! and DS1 was a shocker, teething gel all the time. Also he's never dribbled heaps or had a rash on bottome or cheeks...but that could just be the way he is teething but I'm not taking it off to find out.
I'm now buying my second. Can't speak highly enough of them.
I also bought mine from amberbebe. Very good quality.

I love mine I found mine from Lalia-May on FB
I got one for DD3 and she wor it for about a week when i couldnt find it and the I forgot about it. She has cut 4 teeth during that time and its been a nightmare, so I found it and have popped it back on. I'll l;et you know if it helps!
DS has never had one and we only used Panadol for his first two teeth (that came through at once at 4 months). I looked into it at one stage, but since teeth haven't really ever bothered him, there's been no need. I think, if you like the look of them, buy them for that reason, and if they work for teething, it's a bonus! As a pp said, you'll never really know if they teethe well if it's nature or the necklace, but, who cares?!
BTW, a lot of people have said to me, "I'm glad he doesn't wear one of those awful teething necklaces like a lot of babies do these days" - lol! Obviously they have no manners, but just wanted to say that not everyone thinks they're cute! ;)
thanks for all your replies, it's great, I have had a look at the sites mentioned on here and I reckon for the sake of $40 or so I will give it a go, can't hurt and if it works then great :).
Thanks again for taking the time to reply, I'll let you know how it goes
it didn't really do anything much for our DS but i definitely think it was worth a shot.
he wore his from about 5 months i think & we only took it off for swimming. it was a real conversation started though - so many people commented on it.
I have recently just got one for DD2. Last night was her 2nd night of wearing it and I finally got baby that slept for 10.5hrs!!! She has barely slept for the last 2 weeks, screamed all day/night. She is even back a sleep now. I don't know if it was the necklace or not.... Guess I will see over the next few nights but I would like to think so after spending $30.
Zee: we definitely noticed a connection with our chilled out bubba. she was alot more tense and generally unsettled when she didnt have it on. in the end we havent removed since that first week of trying it on!
Yes I def won't be removing DD's anytime soon, it's so good to see a smiling playfull bubba today.... It's been a while :)
