Hadassah Faith
What do you think? Hadassah is the hebrew for Esther.
Are there any virtuous names for boys?
Mmmm not for me hun
Sorry I'm not keen on it either
I love Faith, but I am not a fan of Hadassah, sorry.
I'm with the others, not keen on Hadassah but Faith is lovely. Have you considered Hannah? Similarish to Hadassah but a prettier name imho.
Same.... what she said :)
I like unusual names. Hannah is very nice, almost cute, but too normal for me :D.
I love Esther, pity my DH doesn't. I think Esther Faith is nice.
I like the way Hadassah sounds but I do not like it in writing sorry.
Brinly and Brian are boys names that mean virtuous.
I don't mind Hadassah - really enjoyed the book with that name in the title.
I think it's the 'D' in Hadassah that makes it a bit harsh IMO.. Not a name I would go with..
I quite like hebrew names. Moshe for a boy?
I am not sure about Hadassah, I like Esther, that's cute. Definitely not many Esther's around.
Adora?
Again, not a name I'd use but kind of pretty.. Does remind me of Dora the explorer though a little bit..
Sorry don't like it but Esther is cute and like Faith.
Yep, I like both names together as is, good choice :)
If the emphasis falls equally on all syllables or on the first syllables I'm not a fan of Hadassah but if the emphasis is on the end then it's not so bad.
I quite like Esther.
Actually...... it's one of those names that you go Huh? The first time you hear it but by the time you have repeated it a bit to try and figure out the pronounciation it grows on you. So.....
My revised opinion is that I would prefer it if it had a French style pronounciation but the other way isn't so bad either.
Does it have to be Hebrew? Fidèle (fidelity) is a great name for a boy.
Ethan(steadfast) and Amin(truthful) are both Hebrew names.
Not a fan of Hadassah just from the sound. Dont mind Esther. I like Adora for a little girl but she may have trouble as a teenager/adult. It makes me think of a Terry Pratchett character called Adorabelle. She was known for wearing lots of black and stiletto heels, chain smoking and causing damage to anyone who made fun of her name :)
Faith is nice. Verity is another virtue name. Hope, Agape, Chastity, Temperance, Honor, Grace, Felicity
Nope, wasn't there someone one a show called that, maybe beauty and the geek or something. She wasn't very nice anyway so it makes me not like it, lol.
I know an Hadassah and I think it is a gorgeous name, it really suits her.
I am not keen on Faith.
Aldona is another one I have heard... not sure of its origin or meaning though.
Heaven - Yes there was a Hadassah on BATB.
Onyx - what does the french pron sound like?
Tashy - i love Honor. But it is "trendy" at the moment because of celebrities.
In French the emphasis in words falls on the final syllables whereas in English we tend to emphasise the first syllables also the H is almost silent.
Thanks. I see it isn't popular but I still love it.
Not instantly, but thinking about it, it grows on me.

I really like it. :)
first time i have heard of this name but i think it sounds too masculine sorry.
When I first saw Hadassah I thought it was a boys name, seems to hard for a girls name and (sorry) I don't like it at all BUT thats because its my opinion ITMS??
I like Adora better.
I am not sure if there is a Hebrew spelling but my name Naomi is Hebrew (probably too common though )
I understand the need for "uncommon" name ... we're in the same boat. We have chosen a name but other "not so common" names that were on my list were Amara, Ellira (Allirah), Jolie ...... I do love Verity too.
Nae x x
Personally I love it! I thinks it's really lyrical :)

At first I thought it sounded harsh (as in the strong 'd'), but it is definately a name that once you say it a few times it grows on you. I quite like it now :)
Don't mind Adora either.
If it is relevant to your faith, then go for it. If you're just choosing it for the sake of it, then nope.
You have to also think if she is going to a secular school, will she be teased because of her name?
I Love MOSHE!!!!
It is a beautiful name, with a beautiful meaning behind it and is relevant to your faith.
Moreso because it is not perceived as a "normal" name, also think of ways it could be pronounced and if any not-nice words can be made out of it. Can't think of any right now.
I would be surprised if she was picked on for the name Hadassah. I wasn't keen when you first posted it but I have very much come round to it now. Kids are used to so many unusual names nowadays they will probably not even realise Hadassah isn't a common name. The bottom line is, if you love it, then go for it :)
Maybe it could sound like Hard Ass? But the thing about bullying is that if bullying is tolerated they will find something to pick on. If it's not the name it is the voice, clothes, accent, walk, glasses.... If bullying isn't tolerated then no matter what you name is it won't be picked on because the potential bullies know they won't get away with it.
Thanks for your honest input, I appreciate it. So far we have Hadassah Faith and Joshua Moshe.
No, sorry. Not really a name I can connect with. I like Hannah and Faith though.
I like it, because it's a real name with meaning and history. There's nothing wrong with it. Maybe most people here aren't used to Hebrew names, but it wouldn't be a problem in another parts of the world.
I can't stand all the revolting names people make up for their kids these days, just random letters strung together in some kind of unpleasant sound... But I digress.
Go for it.

Thanks!
A little background... all our girls will have virtuous middle names. DD1's middle name is Gr@ce, and if we have a DD2, I want it to be F@ith. DD1's first name is X@nthe, so I want something similarly "odd", so that it's not the case that one child has a very common name, and the other doesn't.
:)
