Tell me about your trampoline.
How big is it?
How much did it cost?
Is it hard to relocate if you move?
How often do your children use it once the novelty has worn off?

We got ours from kmart, I think about $270. Its a 12, ft, they also sell 10 ft ones but its a different brand. Its not too hard to put up but takes some time and you need two people.

My boys are 3.5 and 20 months. We bought it before #2 was born. They use it almost daily.

It cost nearly $200. A cheapy by all accounts, from ToysRUs. It took Dh a whole lot longer to put up that he thought it would. Nearly half a day. It was worth it for the laughs.
It would be a PITA to dismantle and remantle. But doable.

It is 12ft. It a bit of a nuisance because we don't have much flat ground so it's on concrete - a big no-no.
It's a good test of your Pelvic Floor muscles too.

ETA: if i had bigger kids, i think i'd get a bigger one.

We bought ours in the UK so even if I could remember the price it wouldn't help you. After 3 years the novelty still hasn't worn off. Brilliant exercise and distraction for the kids.

We got ours from Aldi for under $200, it's great. It's now 3yrs old.
It started off as one with the safety net around it and when that got ratty (a year or so later), we just took it off.
We have replaced the safety mat that goes over the springs with one off Ebay. We certainly have our money's worth.
The boys use it quite alot, most afternoons after school and on the weekends. Mostly during the summer months.
They are out there now as I type.
It's a standard size I think, not too big, both boys can jump on it at the same time. DD now gets on as well with the boys. My DH also gets on with all three and plays wrestles with them, they love it.
I can move it around the yard myself.
As for relocating, it would just be a matter of pulling it apart. You could just move it all in one piece if you have enough room to move it through a garage.
I know of people who have the spring free one, it's very expensive for a trampoline.

Trampolines are so great for camping out under the stars and not worrying about anything getting you on the ground - used to love doing that as a kid, or lying there and watching the stars. I think they are great value for money.

Our first one was a cheapie from Kmart - $175 I think and it started falling apart in no time. The net around it got holes in very early on. When we moved we left it there for the new owners (we asked them first if they wanted it!). Where we live now, the trampoline is up high and not safe without a good quality net, so we had to choose between buying a spring free one for about $1k or not getting one at all. DS1 has low muscle tone and jumping on a trampoline is really good for him, so we bit the bullet and bought the expensive one. The boys use it ALL the time. The novelty has never worn off - they jump on it, play ball games on it, wrestle on it, make up games on it, then jump on it some more. I baulked at the cost at first but it has been money well spent.

I'm looking at the spring-free types MR - it's worth it?

DS is so unco, if we got the normal sort I'd be terrified he'd get hurt somehow...

Ours is 14ft I think, from Amart all sports, can't remember the price. DD1 loves it and uses it every day.

We have one of the old rectangle ones, I'd say it's about 10 years old and still going strong. The kids use it every day (weather permitting). They're SO worth the money.

We have the expensive spring free ones, and I believe they are worth the extra cash.

My DH works in a profession that he has seen many trampoline accidents, so wanted the best so to avoid anything happening.

Gosh. Mine is forever old LOL. I got it in my late teens, so easily 17/18 years old. Mine is the old school rectangle ones made by Hills, without safety pads !!! . Didn't take long to put together and not hard to disassemble. Have been looking into buying a new mat for it actually. Mat will cost me about $90. I have had kids for 10 years (lol) and the novelty has not worn off.

We had a bad storm recently and it blew over the neighbours yard, did no damage luckily and as it had to be dissmantled to get it out of other yard to bring it home Im now not so scared of moving as it wasnt a big deal. We now have it firmly staked to the ground.

Its also kinda fun for the adults too when you feel like taking things outdoors ;)

12 Ft with the safety net. Think it was $700 from ToyWorld. There was a cheaper one, but we went to the local made one with better steel.

The girls go through fazes. Some weeks it will be used every day, then not at all another week. It is a hit when kids around. The net is so worth it. We would not have gotten one without it, as it meant DD2 when she was 2yo could go for a jump. Also means you can be near by rather than right beside it, if you do have a young child up there.

Have not had to move it yet. It has survived some pretty major winds around here.

We have an 8 foot round tramp by "Action", paid less than $200 from memory but it came with a safety net as well. The round ones are more evenly tensioned so fewer bounce-back incidents. Chose this size to be compact (not take up too much of the garden) plus it sits lower off the ground than the bigger models (that get progressively higher) so more user-friendly for smaller kids. We've had it for about 5 years and have recently changed the mats and the net and it's like new again.

OP, I definitely think it's worth it. We really didn't have a choice - it was that or nothing in our situation - but it has definitely lasted better and even with my kamikaze boys we have managed to stay free of trampoline injuries. And they use it so much it's a real life saver!

My brother and SIL have a 5 y/o and 3 y/o with motor skills issues and while using the old style rectangular spring trampoline at my parents' house, we'd have to be right next to it reminding them to jump in the middle etc. At home they had a newer round one with safety net so it was a bit less dangerous. But now my folks have given them the big rectangular one and as a great safety measure, they have dug it into the ground as an 'underground' trampoline, which I recall as a kid being even more fun. Now they can sit and watch somewhere nearby rather than standing around the edge in case anyone needs catching, lol.

Ours is also an 'old school' rectangle one that is about 11-12 years old.
It is still going really well and has been hammered by 6 kids so far (3 of them very boisterous boys :D)
It is still used most days.

How well do the safety nets work? Am thinking of getting DS one for xmas and he can be really rough. I know he will try to bounce off the walls like in a jumping castle. Any particular brands that are good? We have been looking at leapfrog and freestyler.

We have a round one with a net from Toy world (I think) one of those places on sale. We got a 12ft one, though it looks huge we always saw the neighbours kids (grown boys) having heaps of fun on theirs and figured we would rather buy once than have to replace as kids got bigger.

Was a good buy our boys love it, we didnt't get it til DS1 was 3 as we thought he would be too young but DS2 whom is not yet 2 loves it as he watches his brother. He will go on it and just jump round in circles for half an hour. Loves it.

I do think the net gives a false sense of security and we've had some hairy moments but it's good as we can let DS2 on their at a young age and not have to hover around him. But we all survived a trampoline with no nets as youngsters, I don't see the point in spending the serious amount of $$$ on a spring free...just in my opinon. I have full on boys and they have been fine.

we have a oval one without nets from target 2 1/2 yrs ago if I knew what I know now I'd spend the extra $$ and get a good quality one, vuly tramos are fantastic....all have 150kg rate limit which is great if the whole family wants to get on our local boutique toy store sells them at present with a free tent that goes over the nets etc and turns the hwole thing int o a cool tent ...cubby thing...also it has a huge I think 5 or 10 yr UV warranty on the net and pads etc I know the 12 and 14ft rounds are around $500-$700

Spring free one here and it still gets used heaps when the weather's good after 18 mths. Looks exactly the same as when it was new. The safety net is secure, which was the main selling point for us.

I believe setting it up is a nightmare, but we were lucky enough to buy it with a free installation deal. It cost a lot, but should last for the entire time it's needed in our household!
