I love my Fisher and Paykel double door dishwasher - had it around 4 years now and it is brilliant, it really cleans the grime and baked on stuff with minimal rinsing and I love the fact that it does half loads. Would recommend it to anyone.
I want to know too! We are looking at buying one.
Child lock. Get one with child lock! XD
I have a T echnica and it's the biggest piece of rubbish known to man. Even the service technician from T echnica said that their dishwashers aren't worth the metal they're made with. We can do a load and everything comes out dirtier than when it went in. Drinking glasses come out dirty, cutlery doesn't clean. It's currently sitting in my garage, the water pump died. It's only four years old and used maybe once a week.
So after that sorry story....I want to see what's good too. We liked the look of the F&P double drawer.
Any dishwasher I have must have fold down racks on the bottom. Even one where only half fold down is great. Big items fit in much better with them folded away, plus I have some bowls that just clean better if placed there, they just don't sit well with the racks ups.
Have had westinghouse and fp. Both have been fine. Just wish we had the child lock!

The double drawer one doesn't really appeal to me TBH. Some days my dishwasher is on twice a day so I doubt I would ever have so few dishes that a half load would be required. A child lock appeals, mine are always knocking it off half way through a cycle which is so very annoying. Will have a look at some F&P ones if they are a good brand.
Quietness and time delay to use at night in off-peak electricity! We finally got rid of our piece of rubbish F&P Dishdrawer and got a Bosch - it is heaven! So quiet, great features and time delay option.
F & P does have a child lock. I do around 3 half loads per day (so 1.5 normal ones). Advantage I find is that the dishes aren't sitting around for a few hours waiting for more dishes - as soon as brekky is finished I can do a load straight away if there is enough dishes.
Has anyone had an LG dishwasher?
Mine does not, but it is a normal one, not a 2 drawer.:

i had an asko at our old house and it was good, but took a while on a heavy duty wash- like 2 hours!
we are just about to install a Miele in so will let you know how that is
FWIW- our asko blew up 2 weeks out of warranty- as asko are a 'quality' product that the company stand behind, they sent their tech out and he fixed in for free!! it would have cost us well over $300 otherwise!!!
Our washing machine also blew up 2 weeks out of warranty and that was a middle of the range brand- and they didnt want to know us!!
I would definately stick to a Miele, Asko, or Bosh one
there isnt much difference in price if you shop around- and you really do get quality for your money!!!
we got our new dishwasher from the clearance centre in ringwood and it was heaps cheaper buying there - we saved over $500!

We have an LG - it is the Inverter Direct Drive, paid around $1200 for it a couple years ago, very happy with it. Has a child lock, lots of options, dishes come out great. We went in to buy a Bosch but came out with the LG.... :)
We've had an LG, a Bosch and now a Miele. Miele is definitely the best, which you would hope/expect with the price tag. LG was very good, and it was one of the cheaper ones at the time we bought it about 6 years ago. Bosch was really disappointing - didn't clean well and really didn't dry well either.
Must haves - adjustable heights on your shelves. My "good" dinner plates are quite big and so the ability to move things around a bit is brilliant. Fold down "flaps" allow for say bowls or cups underneath and then cooking utensils on the top of the flap. A cutlery drawer, as opposed to baskets, is also really good for getting things clean and much drier.
We have a D'Amani (came with the house when we built), Its pretty good, cleans well (as long as we use decent products - eg we use the Finish Powerballs) and the bottom racks can fold down for big stuff and it fits heaps of stuff in one wash
We had a F&P Dishdrawer at our old house, and I liked that better (more versatile in my opinion) but the D'Amani is great -it's Italian, all Italian appliances are fab!! (and its stylish too)
I researched for ages and ended up with a Bosch. It uses 11L of water per wash - and hardly any electricity. I love it.

I love that it has cutlery drawer and no annoying basket.
We have a Westinghouse, the top shelf is height adjustable for taller glasses etc, the back bottom racks fold down flat for large items, we have a delayed start function. The other main thing I wanted was a quick wash (30 mins) which we use all the tine. Glassware and cutlery all come out perfectly sparkling and spot free.
We have an LG (well, 2 actually) dishwasher - very happy with them. A few little bits have broken (like the plastic lid of the cutlery holder and a bit of one of the wheels for the top rack) and their after sales service (even thought it was like 3 year later) - was great - sent it out for free without any problems.
Has a child lock (which actually stop them turning off any of the settings etc, but doesn't stop them opening the actually dishwasher drawer), and honestly we put them in caked on with stuff, even pots etc and they come out so clean. Has a great 'intensive' cycle.
The newer models have a cutlery shelf at the top, rather than a basket, that is the only thing I would change about ours, I think spreading them out over a shallow shelf at the top would clean the cutlery better.
We have an LG washing machine as well, and I am really impressed. It had the same features at the Mieles we were looking at, but at least $500 cheaper, and TBH, I don't know that you get you $ back in value for buying the Miele.
ETA: Some of them also have the adjustable top rack height, that would also be handy. The quick wash is good but doesn't have the dry part, so I never use it. Ours also has the fold down bottom racks, which is essential - we use it all the time.

I know you don't like the dish drawer but we have one too and it's fabbo so I would definitely recommend a F&P even if it's not the dish drawer. It has a door lock as well and very water wise. We run it through 1-2 times a day and that is generally 2 full meals of 3-4 people, so if I have emptied it after brekky it would be run again after dinner. TBH we never use the bottom drawer unless it is Christmas or a dinner party but I don't' have enough plates for the kids so for us we like being able to run it regularly and have it only use something like 7lts per wash. OK enough now because I know you don't want one but just thought I would pop in and be a pest anyway ;)
I've had an LG, a Westinghouse and now have a Dishlex (? will have to double check when I get home). Loved both the LG & Westinghouse and this one is a PITA. The most used wash function takes 93 mins! (far too long IMO) - so, I put it on at night after everyone has had showers/baths etc.... it is quiet though whereas my LG & Westinghouse were alot noisier. The other wash functions I don't really use except if I have less dirty dishes, I use the 30 min wash function, otherwise it doesn't wash well enough.
We have a horrid H aier that sounds like a dinosaur and does a terrible job of washing the dishes. So I HIGHLY DON'T recommend them!
However, when we bought a dishwasher for our old house we got a F & P and it rocked!!! Couldn't fault it at all.
OMG we had a Heller !!!! Yuck yuck yuck, only lasted us 18 months - complete waste of space!
I forgot to say with our LG - you can do a half load, you can select the bottom or top half, and it takes around 1/2 the time and uses 1/2 the water... We normally use it on bottom half with big pots if need be, and you can apply the half to any cycle type (i think?). Also, get one with a time display, so you know how much longer you have left, and also get one that you can take the filter out easy and wash it - we empty ours out (it has 2 parts to ctahc a lot of extra stuff) after every few loads, it also helps to make sure the dishes wash well otherwise you just have that stuff going back around.
I have an LG. It's about 6 years old and I've never had a problem with it. It had a really good water rating, has the foldy down racks, can do half loads, it's quiet and fairly quick to wash. My fave bit - all the buttons are on the top of the door when you open it. The front is just a stainless panel with a towel rail. It was the only one like that when we got it. I heart my dishwasher!
