Well I was wondering why I havn't seen anyone on the boards and its because we have started a new thread...yippeee...LOL

Dr T- How are things going. Any news on the mobile phone saga? You have to forgive me, I have been mostly offline for 2 weeks now because we have moved so I havnt been able to keep up with whats happening. I really hope everything has resolved and that you are all ok :hug:

I can see there is some potty buisness going on in here...woohoo!!! Lily is still pooing in her nappy on the potty...LOL...Lily will also announce that she is doing a poo by yelling "POOOOHHHSSSS" and points to her bottom...
She also loves my boobs...she watches me breastfed Adele and gets excited at seeing my boobs...hilarious :rofl:

Lily isnt all cute though (well she is...but she isnt...LOL). Gosh, she has monster tantrums!! She screams at the top of her lungs at..well...pretty much anything. DH and I ignore her when she does it but eventually we have to intervene because she gets soo worked up. Sometimes she will hit at Adele too. Please tell me its not just my LO that has an evil twin...LOL. Any suggestions on how we deal with her? I am going back to work in 6 weeks :cry: and I am hoping to have some kind of routine and control of her before I leave them will DH.

Christmas this year is very very tight...as in not sure how to pay bills let alone by present tight...We decided both DD's are too young for us to worry about going crazy with presents, but we would love to go nuts at the same time...next year though will be fun :)

So hows everyone going? would love to hear!

Wow, been AGES since I've been able to get on here. Work has been stupid crazy busy and the internet at home has been playing up :rolleyes:

Delph - Phone's gone. Phone company isn't cooperating at all. Still reckon it doesn't have GPS (mind you got my new IDENTICAL phone...had my other one insured...and IT has GPS, so I stuggle with them telling me my old IDENTICAL phone doesn't have it :angry: )

B's completely obsessed with boobs in general...not just mine. He points to daddy's 'boobs' poppy's 'boobs' and even tried to point out boobs on the dogs the other day.

I leave tomorrow to fly home :leap: :leap: :leap: so excited.

Probably won't be on much at all until I come back SOOO

Delph, so sorry I didn't respond to your post! DS has "nasty twin" moments too - little temper tantrums. And yes, he hits. I basically grab his hand when he does it, get down to his level and say "No!" in a stern voice, then say "keep your hands to yourself".

That's what we did with DD - yes I had another hitter - but we phrased it as a "rule", and I need to start the "rule" terminology with DS now too. I will start saying "What's our rule? We keep our hands to ourselves." Kids respond well to the word "rule" apparently.

DS only really hits DD when he is frustrated or if she does something to him first, with me he gives me a whack out of temper if I say no to something. Booby, at the moment, is a big trigger :rolleyes:

He's still bf, first and last thing generally, and as soon as I get home from work on my work days he's grabbing at my top saying "Booby?" and when I say no, it's not time, he cracks it and whacks me. Think I need to start putting him down in that situation.

Are you back at work Delph??? How's it all going?

This year I'm in the position that you'll be in next year - a pre-schooler and a toddler. We're hanging for Christmas Day - the two of them are going to LOVE it.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas day tomorrow! I forgot about the new thread too. Will have to do some stalking if I get a chance to see what you guys have been up to. For example, I have no idea what mobile phone Delph is talking about wrt Dr T!

AFU - I bought a big boy bed for T on ebay! So exciting. We already had a king single ensemble and a single foam matress without a bed so decided to get a single trundle. I climb into the cot with Travis so anything bigger than the cot is a bonus, lol! I got a second hand version of this bed.

Well better get back to making rocky road and baking cookies -gifts for tomorrow!

Did anyone else's LO from this baby buddy group actually get excited about presents? We still have the majority under the tree! We put them out under the tree after Travis went to bed on xmas eve thinking he'd discover them and be interested in them on xmas morning, but that didn't happen! And opening a couple of the presents ourselves didn't tempt him either. Next year maybe? So far his favourite gift is a set of 5 matchbox cars from my mum. Everyone time we go to SIL's house, he goes straight to the kids' room to find the thomas trains that chain together with magnets. I'm considering taking back a bunch of the presents he hasn't opened and exchanging them for some of those little trains!

Hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and New Years. We just got home yesterday. Talk about TIRED!!

EJ - B didn't get excited about opening presents either. I was a bit bummed. Last year he really got into tearing the paper open, but this year he really just wasn't interested. He did enjoy playing with all the other presents once someone else opened them for him. B is huge on cars and trains as well. He just loves pushing them around. He even makes motoring noises :lol:

AFU - my other super exciting news from Christmas is I'M PREGNANT!! WOOHOOO. Super excited. 6 weeks 2 days today. I'm due on the 9th of Sept. 3 days before my birthday :o

This is actually the second time I've posted congratulations but the other post from a couple of days ago seems to have vanished into thin air!

AFU - Travis has been in his big boy bed since the start of the year and it's great! He still wakes up a couple of times each night, but the fact he isn't constrained when he does hasn't been a problem at all so far. We usually have to lie down with him until he goes to sleep but that's better than not being able to comfort him through the cot bars (or climbing into the cot with him).

We went to the local shopping centre today and they had a Chinese dragon. It freaked Trav out completely and I'm wondering if that's why he's woken up from his nap after only half an hour and is tired but resisting being put back to bed... So gotta go...

Great news!!!!

Not much going on here... Can you believe our bubbas are 18mths? Time flies...

I cant believe my little girl in nearly two! Her language is amazing- such a talkative little girl. She also loves to draw and we have to go to the front door every night she she can wave to "outside" before she goes to bed. Her behaviour has improved alot, maybe her tantrums were a phase she was going through?
I think being a sister has changed her alittle too- she get upset when DD2 cries. She loves giving DD kisses and hugs and has recently started 'playing' with her. Ofcourse we have to watch her because play can be alittle rough LOL

So, Travis is in a bed? Anyone else? How did you know it was time? And what about pillows? anyone using pillows? when should pillows be in the bed? Gosh, soo many questions..LOL

DD is sleeping really well but I do have to go in there during the night to pull her down in the cot. I have witnessed her sleep crawling in the cot a couple of times and she ends up lying across the cot with legs hanging out through the bars. We think maybe she needs a bed but we are worried that she will crawl out of it and right onto the floor- maybe a low bed- do they make those?

Thank you every one for your congratulations. It still feels all a bit surreal at the moment. Because it took so long with B, I guess while I was trying, in the back of my mind I kept telling myself it wouldn’t happen for 18+ months like with him….so when it only took 10…well.

EmmaJane – So T is in a big boy bed huh? Sounds like it’s working really well for both of you. Like Delph asked. How did you know he was ready? B moves around so much, he’s all over the place, and I guess I just really worry about him falling out, even with side protectors up.

AND-------so far so good on the morning sickness front *knock on wood* :crossfingers: I’ve only been nauseous once, and that was my own fault, I went to long between meals, and I knew I was pushing things.

OceanPrincess – I know. I have to book B in for his 18 month needle :( not looking forward to that. Will definitely use your Freddo Frog idea though. I thought that was a FANTASTIC way to take their minds off the needles.

delphmoon – B talks all the time as well. AND he discovered the wonderful skill of drawing all over himself with his dad’s permanent markers last night :doh:

So glad that she’s not throwing as many tantrums any more….maybe because she’s better able to vocalise what she wants?

AFM – I have absolutely NO energy at all at the moment. I’ve been going to bed with B every night since I got back home from overseas. I’m really hoping this lack of energy only lasts for the first trimester.

Dr T - yes, definitely go the Freddo. X was literally like needle 1, little whinge, changed him round, needle 2, little whinge, "ooh Freddo!" and all fine :D

He had the Prevnar-13 booster too - the new pneumococcal one. DD had to have the same needle, she's almost 3, and OMG what a drama queen. She cried the clinic down! Even the Giant Freddo couldn't cheer her up! Lollipop, however, did the trick.

If you get the Prevnar-13, be warned, my kids both had a pretty bad reaction to it - their arms were red, hot, a little swollen and quite sore. Nurse seemed to think it was common so just be prepared. It went down after 2-3 days.

:crossfingers: that your energy returns. It is so hard when you have an active toddler running around as well when you are pg! Hang in there. How wonderful about the nausea! It must be a girl this time if it is so different to the first time ;)

Delph - X isn't in a bed yet. DD was in a bed by 12 months as we needed the cot for X... but X, well we have no reason to move him out so I haven't been in a hurry to get a bed. But I think he might be ready for one too - like your DD, he moves around a lot and collides with the bars.

With DD, we bought her a standard size bed and put it against the wall on one side and put a rail on the other side. We will do the same for DS and I think we will be doing it soon.

TBH, Delph, if they are going to fall out, they are going to fall out. Sounds horrible, but they will only do it once or twice and then they will adjust. It is all about learning their new sleeping space. We bought an el cheapo mattress and put it beside the bed on the floor for the first few weeks as DD got used to the bed and she has never fallen out. And she was in there from 12 months! She sort of fell down a few times as she learned to climb in and out, but she never fell out in the middle of the night. We would go in before we went to bed (and still do) and tuck her in, straighten her out, turn her round, whatever required. Then generally she wouldn't move that much unless she woke up.

We moved her in there in her sleeping bag, without a pillow, and then gradually moved her onto the pillow and weaned her out of her sleeping bag.

We might need to do it the other way around with DS - he is getting too big for the sleeping bag and I don't want to buy him a bigger sleeping bag, so we might start putting him down without it and then go into the bed. Probably should do that while the weather is warm... Hmm!

Good luck! It's a big step!

X is also showing improvement on the tantrum front. I really think is is a communication thing - as they learn to communicate, the frustration eases and tantrums ease. For us anyway! ;)

And X is also sleeping quite well atm... touch wood.

Sounds like you guys all have chatterboxes. Travis likes to talk but darned if I know what he's saying! I'm sure he is trying to say more words than we can understand, just that he doesn't have all the sounds (still no 's' or 'r' sounds for example) and he often gets some sounds mixed up. Like, he points at the bats flying overhead and says "bap". :lol: I feel so bad when I don't know what he means. What do you say when they come out with something that sounds very insightful and look at you expectantly, but you have no idea what they just said or asked?

As for the big boy bed, the thing is the side of our cot is stuck in place and I got sick of having to reach all the way down to pick Travis up when he was crying hysterically but not standing up. I was worried about putting my back out. So when we got the bed, we weren't sure how we'd go about it, but in the end we got him out of the cot when he woke up in the middle of the night one night and lay with him in the bed till he went back to sleep. We did that a few times, then ended up getting him to sleep the same way.

It's a medium height bed and he can get on and off it himself beause it has a trundle underneath that he can put his foot on to boost himself up. I was worried about him falling out because the bed has only a very low side rail thing - only protrudes a couple of centimetres from the matress. But he's never fallen off.

Dr Tal, did you get the permanent marker off B???

I’ve been meaning to come in here and post for ages. That for some reason or other, I never seem to get around to it. This morning I said NOPE! I’m posting darn it!

Emma – I don’t really know what B is saying most of the time either. There are some thing that are pretty clear. Like I’ll be back. Or where did whatever go, that he happens to be looking for. Or all gone. But a lot of the other times it’s just a bit of a guessing game on my part. I usually make up something non-committal to say to him that acknowledges that I heard what he was saying, but that I don’t really understand.

The permanent marker. He keeps drawing all over himself. I’ve almost given up trying to get it off him. I went out the other day and bought him a whole heap of washable markers, but it’s like he knows and he doesn’t like drawing on himself with those ones :shakehead: I guess at least it’s just him (and the dogs) that he draws on and not the walls……could be worse!

I’m also sure it was you that asked ages ago what I did to keep B dry through the night. I wish I could tell you some profound thing that I thought of that was really clever and tricky, but truth be told, I have absolutely no idea. He just is. He has been, since he was about 8 or 9 months old. Not all the time but 90% of the time he’s dry through the night. I don’t do anything, I mean I still breastfeed him to sleep at night and 2-3 times during the night, so it’s not like he’s not drinking. :dunno:

AFU – B is blowing bubbles underwater now!! YEAH! So excited about that. Well, I should say, when we’re at home and in the spa he does it all the time…has been for months. But he blew them for the first time in front of the instructor at swimming lessons on Saturday. It was all very exciting.

AND we went out on the weekend and bought him a new chest of drawers, to date all his clothes have been staked in milk cartons (I know how very organized of me) and I got sick of sorting through them all the time trying to find things…when I could actually find what I was looking for. So DH, B and I all went shopping yesterday and found a nice not too expensive dresser for him. Got it all put together yesterday while he was napping and stacked with all of his clothes.

Also got a bed rail for him when we were out. I am finally going to bite the bullet and put him into his big boy bed…..soon.

Morning ladies,

Must have been the weekend for furniture buying - we finally bought X a big boy bed!! Woo! So now we just need to get a mattress and we have everything - linen and bed rail already at home. Pity we don't have a room to move him in to :lol:

So that's the next task - clear out the spare room and make it into X's new room. Time to start thinking about decorations, yay!

Emma - much like Dr T, I just say something like "Is that right? Ok!" or if he's trying to say something specific I sometimes ask him to show mummy, or tell him to slow down, use his words. Sometimes that's all it takes for him to stop trying to spill out a full sentence and just give me one or two words that get the message across.

It's a tough age!

Dr T - how are you feeling??

Not too bad all things considered. I’ve been exhausted. Way more so then what I remember being when I was pregnant with B. That having been said I wasn’t running around after a toddler last time either!

I’ve had some MS. But not very much….nothing compared to last time. Just a bit of nausea most mornings, and I’ve only vomited a couple of times. And even all that didn’t start till last week. I am feeling a bit icky today, but so far as long as I have something to nibble on I’ve been okay…mostly

But all in all, I’ve been feeling really good. Which is a massive change from last time around when I was just sick all the time.

That's great about the nausea!!! I really hope it continues to be not as bad as it was last time, boy you had it tough!

Go gently with yourself - someone had to point this out to me when I was pg with X - you are now sustaining three life forms. Your baby gets first pick of all the nutrients you take in, then your breastmilk gets second pick and sadly your body gets whatever crummy scraps are left over! Add to that the fact that you are growing a new being, chasing a toddler and working - it is no wonder you are exhausted.

Sleep when B sleeps, use your sick leave, make DH do more... just try and cut yourself some slack. :hug:

I do have to say that DH has been really fantastic though with the dishes and laundry and general house cleaning. It’s been really good, apart from cook and chase after B I’ve really not had to do anything.

Hi! I've just started posting on BB, so thought I'd mark my place on this thread.

My little man (I call him Rhino online) just turned 19 months last week - he was born 13th July, 2010. His language has just EXPLODED in the last few weeks, not just in saying new words or small sentences, but also words he's been saying for a long time have become so much more clear.

He loves being outside, loves big muscle play and loves water. We have to make sure he gets lots of play in those ways each day, otherwise he really has issues with sleeping or settling down.

He's our first, and most probably our only. It took us a long time to have him (and miraculously he came without any intervention, after a multitude of different things being used to try and get us pregnant); and we're just delighted to have him in our lives.

I still breastfeed him; he rocks out in the Ergo most days (if he's not walking somewhere); we use MCNs and if he wakes overnight we co-sleep so we can all get more sleep... :)

My little boy B was born on the 3rd of July, and like your little Rhino his vocabulary and language had really made a huge leap in the past couple weeks. Some of the things he comes out with really crack me up

Sounds like your little man is much loved :loveshower: What sort of MCNs is he in? My two are (were in DD's case, she is toilet trained now) in cloth as well. There's a whole section on here devoted to the love of cloth, have you found that section too?

We also love our Ergo! Do you do back carry with Rhino? I find DS (also 19mths) loves the back carry position but I haven't quite worked out how to get him in there easily yet. :think:

DD has just turned 3 so we are planning a party for Sunday... keeping us very busy. DS got very confused with all her presents yesterday, he kept trying to open them and I'd say "No, X, these are DD's" and he'd say "Why?" I'd say "Because it's her birthday" and he'd say, yep, you guessed it, "Why?" and then have a tantrum when I prevented him from ripping the paper!!! Ahh fun and games.

Feeling really well. I get tired really quickly, but generally go to sleep when I put B to bed.
MS has been almost absent. I had a week where I was pretty nauseous, and vomited a couple of times but nothign at all compared to how I was with B.

Have my first scan on Wed afternoon so am really looking forward to that! :D

Rhino is in a few - I've used quite a lot. We use Itti Bitti AIOs and BBH MagicAll smooth for when he's at Childcare (1 day/week); and then the rest of the time it's a mix of BBH Petites, Baby Chilli & Minky Baby. If I had my time over, I'd probably just have the BBH Petites & the Baby Chilli/Minky Baby. I love them so much... :)

I've been meaning to do back carry for MONTHS; I really should get into it. I just forget until we're out and don't want to risk a fall when I don't know what I'm doing.

I don't get a 'why' yet - just 'what dis?' ad nauseum. It's cute, but not so much after 300+ times of 'what dis' in a day... :lol:


I'm still finding my way around, so hopefully I'll see people in various spots... :)

I have B in MCN's as well. Most of mine are Abby Gro, but I do have an odd assortment of others.

That's funny about Rhino doing the big baby eyes and smile and then the get more.

B cracks me up when he's ready for bed. Never fails. He walks over an pats me just about the breast, gives me the cutest smile then nods his head. As if to say….yup…it's boob juice time…bring it on!

The other one he's big on at the moment is 'I be back'. While holding up his first finger and thumb. He's also started turning around after his 'I be back' holding his hand up and telling me to 'stay back'. I suspect I might say that too often to the dogs :redface:

Isn't it funny Dr T when you hear your words repeated back at you???

I think part of the reason DS says "Why?" so often is because DD says it all the time too! She says it with meaning though... eg "DD, come and put your shoes on please", she says "Why mum?" I say "Because it is time to go" and she'll say "Ok, I'll just be there in a minute", whereas DS responds with "Why?" again :lol: Doesn't quite get it!

Muraho, that's great that your childcare will do cloth nappies. Mine just went "Err, no." TBH, the reduction in washing is actually quite nice :redface: Don't tell me cloth nappy shop owning friend that plesae!!!

Dr T, that's fantastic that you aren't feeling as sick. Wonderful!

How cute about the booby? I've weaned DS now but before we stopped, he used to put his hand down my top and say "Booby". It was very cute :D

OP - Congratulations on the exciting news I read in another thread. :D I'm going to see if I can skip work that Monday you mentioned you'll be in SEQ. Gotta see if I'm needed in the lab, but if not it would be great to meet you in person, put a face to the name!

Dr Tal - read your post about your traumatic labour/birth/post-birth complications. I'd forgotten how scary things were for you and I can only imagine the combination of emotions you're going through now! Have you considered a home birth this time around? On a happier note, I was glad to read your scan went well!

Muraho - nice to "meet" you. :) Hope to hear from you again in here!

AFU - no pregnancy announcements here, lol. Things are getting much better on the sleep front! Was away from DH on and off for a couple of weeks and that helped T & I to evolve to a different routine. Bedtime is now much more variable in terms of the actual time, and could be up to 10.30pm. That's my limit when I decide it's too bad if he still doesn't seem tired! T's been sleeping in till 7am a lot since we've been letting him stay up later, and only crying out in his sleep a once or twice a night when he needs a sheet or the fan on. Hopefully now that I've written about it, it won't all come apart again like has happened before!

T's starting to copy (or at least attempt) words much more now which is fun. He's still inconsistent with s and k sounds but doing really well. He even tried "butterfly" the other day. He got three syllables and the b sound at the start right. lol. He LOVES counting books. Previously all numbers were eight, but now they're nine. But he'll try to say the proper name after we say it, mostly.

It's just so amazing watching him learn to talk. :)

He's so cheeky at swimming. I feel like I must be a terrible parent when he won't do the prescribed activities or go to the instructor without crying and reaching out for me. But he loves jumping into the pool and "swimming" a couple of feet under the water to me. Can't get him to do swapping arms though!

He also loves jumping off things like stairs, washing machines, tables. At the moment it's only if I'm there to catch him. Hopefully he maintains that sense of self-preservation...

Anyway, I'm off to hang out clothes and go to bed. Good night y'all.

OceanPrincess - LOL definitely interesting to hear B repeat back at me…but he always seems to manage his own little spin on it which never fails to crack me up.

Like the other day when he got his shots. He can get really excited at times and will often fling things around. And I am forever telling him he needs to be careful with mummy because that hurt and mummy doesn't like to be hurt…..I'm sure you can see where this is going. So the woman gives him his first shot and after she's done he pokes his hand out at her and says "stop, no hurt Brock, mummy no like hurt" If I wasn't so upset at him being so upset about his shots I think I'd have burst out laughing. He just looked at the lady so indignant, and even with tears streaming down his face he still had it together enough to parrot back at her.

I have to go stalk OP now…..see what her exciting news is…you've got me all curious!

I actually have considered home birth. But so far DH is a no go on that one. All he can rememeber is B not breathing and me almost bleeding out and he's dead set I need to be in a hospital in case it happens again. Which I can kind of understand, but at the same time I wonder if it would have happened at all if I'd not had all the interventions….I just don't know.

Sounds like you might have a bit of a bed routine worked out for T now. :crossfingers: it stays good even though you have written about it.

I've noticed there are heaps of sounds B can't actually make, which makes it so cute when he says certain words. Because you know what he's saying, but it's just not quite right. Like he doesn't make a t sound. So water is wada and stop is sop.

Had to laugh at T and all the numbers being 9. B counts to three, but instead of one two three go, he wo (two) wo (two) he (three) go.

Don't feel bad about T crying out an reaching out for you in swimming. Probably 80% of the kids at B's swimming class don't like the instructor takig them off their parents. So I think it's quite common.

I'm so glad you're getting some sleep wins with T. You must be feeling a bit relieved. Is it continuing? Sometimes I find when it is just the three of us we work things out better than when DH is there, don't know why that is!

I was in the water with X this week at swimming, usually DH is but for reasons unknown to me (we were having an ongoing cold war type fight... :rolleyes: ) I ended up taking him, he loves swimming. Just starting to jump in on his own, it's really good to see. I'm hoping this week at Sea World (or 5 days as it is actually) will help build up his confidence. We are planning on hitting Sea World in the mornings, then maybe after sleep time we'll spend some time in the pool at the resort. I'm hoping the weather will be on our side!! :crossfingers:

I'm mostly loving this age, all the cute things they do. Except X seems to have regressed to tantrums again! Argh! :wall: This morning we got up and as usual I'm making toast for brekkie, he wanted juice. He never gets juice in the morning. Sometimes at dinner, but never brekkie. For some reason he demanded juice. I said no, he had a tantie. Then proceeded to put his toast in his cup :lol: Funny boy.

Hoping this little break up to Queensland will be beneficial for all of us - a break away from all our stress down here.

B has started with tantrums a bit lately. It’s certainly frustrating. AND he’s started the biting again. He took to biting my leg over the weekend. Was SO not impressed. Will Definitely need to work to get him past that one again.

Yeah X has started whacking again too. Fun. I'm trying the "keep your hands to yourself" rule, which worked with DD, so I'll see how DS goes.

I actually may be down Brisbane/Gold Coast way around June. DH and I are still workingt hrough the logistics/finances of it all, but we're seriously considering it. Emma might get to meet two of us this year LOL

at work so can't write much of a reply, but woohoo to getting to meet Ocean Princess and maybe Dr Tal! good luck working through the tanties girls. :-(
