Hello everyone,
My husband and I are having such a hard time choosing a name for our little girl (out of 2 possibilities)... can you help us decide? Would love to know which name you love best....
Christina
OR
Gemma

Gemma is my fave out of those two. Christina seems a bit old to me these days.

Out off the 2 Gemma is the nicest I know a beautiful little girl called Gemma.
Middle name is Caroline - thats decided (after mother in law)
I prefer Christina, but then I was bullied by a girl called Gemma so the name is somewhat tainted for me! I've always thought Christina was a very pretty, delicate sort of a name.
I prefer Gemma. I love the nn 'Gem'.
Love Christina but with the middle name prefer Gemma. Both are lovely just don't like the two names to start with the same letter just a thing I have :)

Gemma Is more modern, when you have your second, would u like another modern name (hope that makes sense )

I prefer Gemma. But I am biased. My daughter is Jemma :-) I think it is a beautiful name.

I have to vote Christina - Gemma is my Nans dogs name (they ruined it for me) ... but if you don't know anyone with a dog named Gemma then I think its a pretty name for a baby
There are lots of Gemmas around. Not so many Christinas. Depends how common you want the name to be.
Christina. One of the nicest girls I've ever known was called Christina, one of the most "one-uppy" type girls I've ever known is called Gemma. Also, I think Christina Caroline sounds really sweet, and if you like it you could call her "CC" as a nickname!
Another vote for Gemma/Jemma here. Christina is one of those names that falls under the Damien/Shaun categories for me, one of those popular 70/80's names that was overdone if that makes sense? No offence to anyone here who has a Christina/Damien/Shaun. Im very much one for you choose what YOU like, so if you love Christina then go for it, this is merely my opinion and in the grand scheme of your name choosing, my opinion doesnt matter :)
I love Gemma :) I don't know if I'd like Chris which goes with Christina.....GL hun!
I know someone called Christine who shortens it to Teena. Growing up she was Teenie. If you don't like Chris as a NN that's an alternative for you.
Is this your first baby? One thing that I am really conscious of when choosing my baby's names is that I like them to sort of "match". So if this is your first baby and you are possibly going to have more after this one, then have you considered what sort of names you might give subsequent babies? Lol, I know it seems crazy thinking about future babies when this one hasn't even come out ;) I guess I just find it odd when someone has a child with a really classic/old-style name, and then name their second child a really modern name with "odd spelling".
Out of your two names though my favorite is Gemma :D
My sister has an awful dog named Jemma, so that one's tainted for me. Plus with 2 C initials she could be NNed CeCe :D

My MIL shortens her name to Teens, rather than Chris. I quite like it... Not a name you hear every day anymore :)
I prefer Christina - lots of options with Chris, Chrissy, Christy, Tina, Nina, CeCe for nicknames. I think it is less common than Gemma these days and is really pretty.
(It always makes me thinks of Chrissy Amphlett and she is awesome so it has a good association for me)

I am so glad I asked, there seem to be lots of people that have heard of the name Gemma being used and not Christina. I have NEVER met a Gemma can you believe hehehe. Its interesting to get others opinions.
Sounds like Gemma is a pretty popular choice but Christina is likes for lost of reasons too.. its hard isn't it!

My neice's name is Jemma, so Gemma gets my vote but knowing her i prefer the name with a J over a G
At first i thought Gemma but thinking about it I think Christina would be a better choice as it is a beautiful name and it would be unusual for a little girl these days making it a bit special. both great names though.
