s&s and contractions
So lucky me had a stretch and sweep done at lunchtime today Since then i had some bleeding but that has stopped. But since getting it done i have been having regular contractions every 8-10 mins apart, they are uncomfortable and painful but nothing too unbearable.
Is this the start of things, or am i getting my hopes up? What can i do to help things along?
thanks!

I had a S&S with my last baby, when Dr did it he said I was very soft and that he would be surprised if I didn't have bubs within a few days.
Almost as soon as I walked out of the Dr clinic I was feeling contractions. Can't remember having any bleeding. The sweep was done at lunchtime, continued with strong tighetings for most of the evening, by the time I went to bed they had calmed down a bit. Then they started again at around 1.30am.. were 15 mins apart but I sort of new that they were the real deal. I got to hospital at around 8am and he was born at 10.20am.
Good Luck I hope it has worked for you.

No advice, just wanted to say good luck and hope to be reading your BA very soon.

Sounds like the real deal to me. When I was having contractions all day that were not getting close together I danced really bouncy around the house and sure enough within the next hour they were alot closer.
Good Luck.

Thanks ladies,
The ob seemed to think that it wouldnt happen, and that induction on thurs would be more likely... Maybe time to go jump on the trampoline? ;)

Beans if you have a fit ball bounce and hip roll on that or try getting on all fours and rocking and circling your hips. Or start walking!
-
*stalking*
I've got everything crossed for you, beans.
Even if things don't happen by themselves I hope that you have a beautiful birth experience.

Didn't work for me, unfortunately. But some spotting is common as they have "stirred things up" down there. Just make sure it doesn't get any heavier.
I'd be trying to rest. Labour hormones are apparently strongest at night/early morning so it might start up again overnight... and if it does, you want to be well rested.
Just MHO.
All the very best - I know how much you are wanting this to happen!

Thanks ladies,
Ladylove I dont have a fitball, but Im trying out the down on all fours bit, and Im moving about Im trying to 'work it'
OP, totally agree, I always have gone into labour in the middle of the night, so heres hoping things start up later tonight. I had a s&s with DD2, but never had contractions or anything until I was in full blown labour with her a few hrs afterwards.
Apparently I scored low on the bishops chart, so my ob thinks it wont work that well. Im still holding out that things could happen for me. The contractions have lessened in the last half hr, so Im not sure what that means. I would love to be holding my little sprout tomorrow morning, but I suppose I can only wish at this stage. That being said I am going t otry everything the ob suggested. :D Heres hoping it works.

Beans there is a great yoga app if you have an iPhone with videos of some of the common positions for optimal foetal positioning and helping baby along. I'll look up the name in a tic.

Thanks ladylove! I shall look it up.
Well on the tmi front, Im pretty sure I just had a show, and contractions seem to be getting a tad closer together and stronger.
Fingerscrossed tonight is the night we welcome our little one into our arms!!!
-
Best of luck!
(I was the same a OP, didn't do much other than give me alot of pre labour and no progress)

BB - it worked for me with DS. On the Tuesday morning, had a S&S. That night started having contractions - 2am Wednesday morning went to the Hospital and 6:56am he was born (via c-sect but I was in labour)
Been thinking of you hun! Can't wait to read your BA!

meh.
grrrrr.
nothing...
Had regular contractions 4mins apart, lasting a min. At some I went to bed to lay down, passed out. Contractions lessened (obviously), and now Im up and not sure what to do. I have a lot of downward pressure, Ive had more show, with blood. Now I feel lost, never had this before.
-
Go for a big walk and try to get things moving again. Hopefully that pressure on your cervix will push things along.
I hope today is the day. Come on, Sprout!
-
thanks nickle, same here.
Im feeling a tad down this morning. A walk sounds good. Might even clear my head a little. I know tomorrow is induction day, I dont want to make it to that. Worse still is Im starting to worry that something is wrong and thats stressing me out even more, Im sure that isnt helping things along.
-
Sounds like a walk would be good for you in every way.
Is there anything in particular which makes you feel like something is 'wrong' or just normal pg worrying?
It's hard knowing you have a deadline for induction, but it sounds like things are already starting to happen so even if you do make it to tomorrow hopefully you won't need much to start the process and your body will do most of the work on its own.
Maybe take a long walk then lie down for a while and have a good chat to Sprout about the next day or two and what's going to happen. I reckon being in the right head space for birth is just as important as your body being physically ready.
-
i agree with nickle - go for a walk & hopefully that will clear your head. i know you don't want to be induced but maybe make peace with yourself & that it may happen. i know i was resisting my induction with DS all the way (as in, even during labour i was still annoyed!!) & i think that affected my headspace & my ability to focus on birthing a baby. have some nutritious food & a restful day
whatever happens, you're close to meeting your sprout & that's exciting :)
and if you're concerned about anything, call the hospital to double check - there's nothing wrong with making sure
-
Yep, what Nickle and sloane said. It is a lovely cool (maybe a bit windy) day for a walk.
And I just add one of these  from me.
-
What nickle said :)
Sounds like a walk would be great to clear your head, little sprout will be here in no time :) I hope it helps to destress and take the pressure off hun, it will happen promise xox

I hope the walk helped BB. Even if u do get to induction tomorrow, since things have started a bit u might just get away with cervadil.gel & tape. That's all I had for my induction n my labour was natural n drug free otherwise n was only four hrs. So having an induction can still turn out ok if u are confident in urself to birth ur baby.
I.do hope things happen for u today tho. Xx all the best either way

Thinking of you today!! I hope that the walks gets things moving for you again!!

I have faith that Mother Nature is doing her best job with regards to little Sprout, enjoy your walk and the fresh air.
xx
-
A walk definitely but also consider a little DTD with hubby or if not in the mood/he is not around, try a little self satisfaction which apparently can hurry baby up ;)
If all else fails you can request to start slow on induction ... my OB told me that if I needed inducing but was hesitant she would start me on the lowest dose of the drip thingy, or the gels or whatever and to give each time to work - not rush from one step to another. You can demand what you feel comfortable with. :)

Thanks ladies,
well yesterday it poured rain all day.. So going for a walk where it was dry was hard to find, but... Bunnings the ultimate walking area! We spent hrs up there walking around buying random stuff. And we had a nice hot curry for dinner too... Seemed to work too. :D
downside of a nice hot curry, it goes straight into my milk! Must remember that one in the future!!!
