Welcome pack....
Hi girls,
I need your help....
Mine and DH's friend is arriving from London on Thursday night and she will be staying with us for 6 months. She is originally from Poland and has been living in England for the last 4 years doing uni. When DH and I were in the UK we all worked at the same pub and lived together.
We have done her room up really nice and homey for her and she has her own bathroom etc. But I want to do up a 'welcome pack' for her. Stuff to make her feel welcome and at home etc. Im going to put together a frame with photo's of all our friends from the pub etc and put it up on the wall in her room so she has a little bit of home with her.
If you were arriving over here and were staying with someone what would you want in a welcome pack? I want to get her some little trinkets and nice things to put in a big basket on her bed for when she arrives....open to all idea's.
Thanks,
Aim xxx

Gorgeous idea!
Maybe some nice bath things if you have a bath? After the long flight, it might be nice? Some Aussie wine? Pack of Tim Tams lol!

Some nice soap (body shop or lush)
Fluffy towels
Chocolates
hmmm not sure but a lovely idea!

Thanks girls, im going to Myer on Sunday to get her some nice fluffy towels but ill add the other things onto my list....
Its so hard trying to think of other things. I've got her some nice smelly candles for her room.
Love the Aussie wine idea!!!

Haha we both said tim tams LOL
Maybe a nice mug and drink bottle.
Wine idea is great
-
that's a lovely idea!
i think a mug would be great (feels so much better to have your own).
if she's going to spending most of her time with you (rather than travelling) maybe a map or something? it's a pity we don't have A-Z's here - a small version of that is great to have when you arrive in london.
maybe her own set of keys? i know you can give them to her but it's kind of nice to have them as part of a welcome pack.
-
The first thing I thought of was Tim Tam's too. :D
The key idea is a great one and how about a pretty keyring to put it on?
A small stuffed koala or kangaroo?
Australian music?
A book written by an Australian author?
A couple of trashy magazines?
Suncream?
A pair of cute thongs?
That's all I can think of at the moment. Sounds like you are going to have a great time when she gets here.

I wouldn't go to too much expense. It can be a bit awkward when you're staying with someone and they spend lots of money on you but you're on a backpacker's budget.
Her own set of keys.
A sim card
Some toiletries
An Australian version of her preferred bevvy
Some vegemite (if you don't tell her it's food you can amuse yourself while she tries to figure out what the hell it is)
A map of Australia
-
A nice beach towel
maybe some vouchers for some things to do localy?
Geez your such a wonderful friend Amy  Im sure she is going to feel right at home living with you

A map of your area with important places highlighted (pub, park, gym, supermarket, bank, train station, beach...)
Info on public transport (map of stations, how to buy ticket....)
-
Geez what would I do without you girls!!! Fantastic ideas, I love the beach towel, keyring and suncream ideas!!!
Onyx - She knows Mitch and I want to spoil her, she helped us out so much when we were living in London with her, so we want to return the favour. We are taking her to Bali with us next month as her xmas pressie, she is so excited and I think the towel and suncream and stuff will be awesome for that!!!
I think ill get her some Havianna thongs as well......the Aussie uniform! Now just to suss out her shoe size.....

Don't forget to put a vase of fresh flowers in her room. I love staying with my Aunts and my Mum's friends because they all do it but no-one of my generation ever seems to do it.
-
I love the sunscreen and Haviannas ideas!!!!

Some choccies on her pillow?

-
Yeah a public transport card, if you have that over there, and details of how to sponge off your internet :D.
-
I was thinking a map and a public transport card too.
On the shoe thing can u contact another of the house marred and get them to check or get a general size like an 8 and if wrong take back and change? The thoughts still there

Thanks girls. I might just show her how to get a transport card. DH works a week away and a week home so on his week away she will have his car to drive. She will more than likely get a card for the train but we need to work out how far it is and how much it will cost each day etc.
