Are they Monday to Friday? Do they work weekends? What time do they leave and get home?
My DH works at a refinery and does 2 days followed by 2 nights, then has 5 days off but the first day he spends sleeping of course.
The hours are meant to be 7am/pm - 7pm/am but he leaves at 6 and gets home anywhere between 7:30 and 9.
He works weekends and public holidays whenever his rotating shift falls on them. He also works regular overtime as that's part of their contract.
He gets about 5 weeks annual leave per year :D
My DH works 5 days. He has Wednesday's off (I work Tues and Wed) and works Saturdays and also Friday nights. He also works Public Holidays and if he can't get Sunday people he will work then as well. Over Christmas he had Christmas Day off only..he started at 8am Boxing Day.
Starts around 9am and finishes 6pm if he is lucky. He is not home before 7pm and most nights it's usually closer to 7:30pm as the only time he gets to finish up work is when the shop is closed. Last night he stayed back until 8pm..2hrs after closing time.
He leaves home between 8am-8:30am. It's 45min door to door for him, he travels to work on a motor scooter.
Ahhhh, the joys of retail.
My hubby is a fireman and works 2 days 2 nights and a "sleep" day plus 3 days off (so basically 4 days off) they are rotating and 10hr day shifts and 14hour night shift.
For the day shifts he leave at around 0645 and gets home between 1730-1800
and night shifts he leaves around 1630ish and gets home in the morning between 0730-0800
Mon - Fri. 8:15 to 5:30, so he leave before 7:30 and gets home a bit before 5:30.
There is some work away. So some weeks he is away for 2 or 3 days at a time. No meant to work weekends, but the odd time he has taken phone calls and had to go out and see a contractor on site.
Much better than his old job. 6am to 4pm. Sometimes 5 days away. Sometimes night shift as well.
Mine is mon-fri and ment to be 7-340 but at moment it's 630-310. He also works some weekends and nights and sometimes goes away for a week or 2 at a time.
Mon - Fri.
The days I work (mon-wed) we go together and come home together (unless one of us has a late meeting).
We normally leave at around 7am, and get home at 530 or so - that includes day care drop off and pick up. He then Normally works for a couple of hours at home.
On the other 2 days he is home later, normally by 7pm at the latest. (unless he goes to Friday night drinks!)
He will then normally do some work from home over the weekend too.

Was employed to do Shift = 7 days 12 hours, 7 off, 7 nights 12 hours, 7 off. 6am until 6pm or 6pm until 6am with 45mins drive time each way.
Currently works Mon-Fri. Leaves home at 6.30 gets home at 5.30. Works about 30 mins each night from home. Each week does at least one 10/12 hour stint as required. Spends approx one night each month away. This month it's the 14th (LOL).
His pay rate is good, but if you averaged it on hours worked, it's pretty crappy!
My DP works monday to friday 8 til 5. He leaves the house at 6am and doesn't get home until 6:30pm only because he gets to work by public transport.
He never has to work weekends or work over time which i think is great :)
2 x 12 hour days (5.30 - 5.30)
2 x 12 hours nights (6 - 6)
4 days off
leaves around 45 minutes before work starts.
often has to work public holidays, weekends etc
As it is an 8 day cycle, the cycle moves forward one calendar day each week.
My DH works Monday to Friday, 7-3. He leaves home about 6:45 and gets back about 3:15. He's also constantly on call, as he's a maintenance worker in a glass factory that has not shut down since it opened. So there are people there every minute of the year!
Anyway, if something breaks down it needs to be fixed immediately, so one of the maintenance guys gets called. DH doesn't *have* to go in, if he's been drinking or is busy he just says no and they ask someone else, but the extra money is handy!

We own our own business- so it's *usually* 2 afternoon shifts per week- 4pm till 10, 11 or 12.
One o/night shift on most Friday nights- 6pm till 10am- will nap onsite if he has the chance.
More or less as required.

At the moment it's pretty horrid, he works odd days, any day of the week. He can start work anywhere from 6am, and finish as late as 4.30am. He can work 8-12hr shifts. He's been working alot of arvo/night shifts, which are either 3.30pm-12am or 6pm until 2.30 or 4.30pm. Day shifts are rare, maybe three a fortnight, and are usually 6.30am-3pm. He gets his roster a week in advance, if he's lucky (his boss is terrible at doing it) for 6 weeks, subject to change. He's on call 24/7, and will get at least one call out a fortnight. Days off are unpredictable, usually 1-2 in a row, never more than 3, unless it involves some sort of leave. He's also working alot of weekends. We can't guarentee if he will have a weekend off (although, luckily, at the moment it doesn't matter, because I am not working and the kids aren't at school).
DP works 8:30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday - leaves around 8am, home around 5:30pm.
DH is a builder - leaves at around 6:15 for a 7 o'clock start and home by around 4:45 after a 3:30 ish pack up/finish. If he is site managing as he will be soon that can mean slightly later nights as he has to wait til all tradies leave so roughly 5-5:30. No weekends, all public holidays off, flexibility with taking time off when he wants but being a subby also means that he doesn't get paid for that time off!
One week away and one week at home. 5am -5pm 7 days per week.
DH does 7am to 3pm or 8am to 4 or 9 to 5 or 10 to 6. He works 15min frm hme.
I work 1.5hrs frm hme so I work heaps longer hrs than he does.
We both work mon to fri only.
usually DH flies out at 6am Monday morning and flies in 8pm Friday night. when away they work 14 hour days, ok apparently because there isn't much to do on site.
atm, with bubs due soon he's working 45 mins away in city. leaves about 5:30 and home around 6:30 m-f and a few hours on weekend from home. its much nicer to have him around for bedtimes!

DH works Monday through Friday 7am to anywhere to 5-6pm. Leaves about 6:45am and is usually home by 6pm. Back when DS1 was a baby he did a lot more overtime of a week night. He also works Saturdays 7am through to anywhere from 12pm. Saturdays can be flexible, if we have something on he is able to get the day off but a Saturday make a big difference to the pay packet.
With his mine work it's a 4 on, 4 off roster of day and night shift. So on Sunday he will start day shift, leave at 4.30am and get home at 7.30pm. Then he will have 4 days home so he will do his farm work and that can be around 8 am to whenever he's done enough for the day. When he's on nightshift he will levae home at 4.30pm and get home at 7.30am. It works out that he's only working his mine job 6 months of the year really, which is pretty good.
He works wednesday to monday, tuesday and wednesday are his days off usually. Always leaves home at 10am, then usually he will get home somewhere between 10pm and 1am, depending on what was on. He works every public holiday, every weekend. And quite often he will do a breakfast shift or two every week, so leaves home at 5:30am, will come home for an hr round 10:30-11am, then back to work til close.
We're about 10min drive from his work as well
Monday to friday leaves without fail no later than 7:30am, earliest ever home say 7pm, probably fifty percent of the time not home until say nine. Last night it was 1am.
Does probably an additional 10+ hours a week from home at night and weekends.
We live close to the city but it still is a 40-60 minute trip.
I hate his job but it pays well so...
Usually he has two days off a week, sometimes that ends up being three, sometimes it's none.
The shifts aren't predictable, but his most common shift is 6am-2pm, or 2pm-10pm. There's also overnight (10pm-6am), and very rarely an 8-4 shift. On the first of every month he goes in the morning and says pretty much all day because he has to do "month end", whatever that is...
I'm so happy, he's had pretty much the past month off, and the owner told the store manager he can have an extra week if they could spare him :)
He works mon-fri 3pm-11pm. The hours and days really work for us, but he hates his job so hopefully he'll be out soon. We will sacrifice the awesome hours for him to be happier at work :)
Excuse my sucky spelling, I'm on my iPhone
My DH works monday - friday & 8.30 til 5pm. He leaves home around 8am and gets home between 5.30 - 6pm. He gets all weekends and public holidays off. He will have the odd night where he has to work late due to the travel in his job and the rare night away too.
Varies. Gone pretty much every day by 6am if not earlier, home some time between 3pm and 5pm.
Busy ATM so working weekends too.
Leaves home between 0700 and 0800 and home between 1800 and 2000 depending on how much work he has to do and also works for an asian company who forget time differnces and schedule meetings at crazy times for Australia as its still a normal time there.!
He only had to walk 5 mins to station travel 5 stations on the train and then a 5 min walk to work.
Works mon - fri used to do on call and weekends regularly, now very rarely does interstate and overseas travel regularly.
he runs a restaurant. service hours are 11.30-2.30 and 5.30-8.30 but hes normally in at 9.30 till about 8.30. with a few chances to pop home in the day as hes the boss. but really he never stops working. he had his first day off last week since august 23rd last year, by that i mean, it was an entire 24 hour period where he didnt set for in the kitchen/restaurant. whatever bank holidays/christmas etc etc people have off, they are his busiest days. he worked 12 hours a day...every day for 6 weeks over christmas.
but we are grateful!!
DH is a school teacher so he never really 'finishes' working each day.
But, he's Monday to Friday, leaving home usually at 7am for an 8:20am start (his work is usually 65 mins drive during peak hour, non peak hour it's 40mins but he's ALWAYS hitting peak hour) and he finishes with students at 3pm, but sometimes stays behind to do work. If he stays behind till 3:30pm, he gets home around 5ish and if he doesn't, he's home at/around 4/4:15pm.
Having said that, he's making dinner when he gets home, then works once the kids are in bed and usually finishes at 11pm.
On the weekend, he spends up to 6-8 hours programming both days on the weekend, so I barely get much time with him (and neither do the kids)

Totally Unpredictable. Some day shifts, some night shifts, sometimes work from home ( brings ambulance home for on all shift) sometimes 5 mins from home, sometimes a hour from home. Sometimes in a car, sometimes on an ambulance motorbike. Then we could think he was finishing at 6pm, and end up on a big job and not get home for hours after that! Sucks because I can never commit to something such as a gym program as I never know if he will be home!
My DH usually leaves at around 7:30-8am unless he is travelling interstate and then he will leave it 5-6am. He will usually get back home 7:30pm-8pm and if he is travelling it can be the same time or later to 9pm. He has weekends off (his old jobs he used to have to don weekend work, so grateful that apart from the odd occasion he doesn't work weekends). He gets 4 weeks annual leave per year.
DP starts at 4.30am and can be home from 4pm onwards... (7-8pm). He is meant to work mon till fri but if they have a few late shifts he gets Fridays off. Sometimes asked to work sat but he turns them down and i don't blame him really considering he only gets about 5hrs sleep a night.
Crap ones lol
10pm-6am tues, weds, thurs, fri and midnight until 11am Saturday.Sunday and Monday weekend :)
Mon - Thurs is 7am to 3.30pm
Fri is 7am to 1.10pm
That is his standard 38hr week anything over that is over time. Which is rare lately.
You already know mine works crap hours with much overtime and call outs or lives away.
Hope everything's OK Olive.
Mon to fri starts at 5am and knocks off anytime between 3 and 5pm.
I work worse hrs thst himn

My DH works from home, so not much in the way of travel time!!
He is self employed, and we have made a decision to sacrifice money for him having more time with me and the girls so he generally starts work around 9am and finishes any time from 4pm. It is generally Monday to Friday. The only thing that changes is that he contracts to a US company, and is a computer geek so if they are doing new programme releases or anything then it is generally on weekends, and can be late nights or extremely early mornings to coincide with office downtime in the US or elsewhere around the world - depending on who and where the programme is affecting.
During the week he will take time off for kindy/pre-primary rosters, pick up the kids from school if they have specifically asked for him etc. The only thing he does away from us is golf, and he will play on a Wednesday morning maybe once a month.
DP is self emplyed and his hours can vary but generally he is up and out of the house by 7am (sometimes earlier) and can get home anywhere from 5:30 to 8pm.
He has generally been working 6 days a week but often works 7.
Working for himself does allow some flexibility like being able to start late to drop DD1 off for her first day at kinder, taking yesterday off to do a few things on our boat, register it etc and be there to pick DD1 up from her 2nd day at kinder.
Work around us for b'days and things like that.
NONE anymore!!
he used to work anything from 6days to 6 weeks on, 4 days to 2 weeks off, driving 14 hours a day (resting whenever the timing worked out with his log book!)
DH just negotiated a new roster with his employer. 10hr shifts Mon, Tue , Wed and 8hr shift Sat. So he gets thur, fri and sun off!
He tries to pick up overtime on Fridays :)
ETA: 10am-8:30pm mon-wed and 9-5 sat. He leaves home about 1.5hrs before his shift starts and gets home 1.5hrs after it ends - 2 buses, train and walk. But sat he takes car only 30min drive each way
