The last few weeks at work have been tough.
Tonight I've helped many women attached their babies to their breast, I've changed dirty bottoms, I wrapped littles ones up warm and tight and I've snuggled with a little boy with the softest skin I've ever touched.
It hurts my heart so much that I'm not going to get any of that now.
The ache never goes away....no matter how much time passes. :cry:

Sara I am so sorry your going through this. Is there any chance you can have a break from the place? When I lost my 3rd pregnancy which then caused fertility problems over 2years I resigned from my permanent position (as a midwife) got a job as an RN at another hospital. 3months later I started working back as a midwife in my old job but casual. The first shift back I cried walking into the place and frequently hide out in the pan room or toilet having a melt down but over time it did get easier. Now I have had another baby things are much easier but occassionally I still find myself having a melt down due to various triggers.

Sara, I feel that ache every single day as I drop off my little boy to school. There are so many mothers who are pg or with newborns and all I can do is turn my head and look the other way as I secretly wipe away the tears. I could only imagine how hard your job must be for you now.:hug:

No the pain doesnt go away - Its with me all the time.
If only I could just go back and try again but I can't. That hurts a lot too. Knowing that I have to wait so long to feel that joy again.

The pains is alway the same for me, just that the time between those moments where you truly let yourself remember gets further apart....

Yeh because of Uni and because DP and I split.:
Once I finish Uni this year I will go straight into a 12 month Grad program and I can't really be taking maternity leave whilst I'm in that.
So it will be at least another 2 years before I can try again. That fact hurts a lot.

Having a tough time dealing with things today.
I'm on prac in Birth Suite at the moment and am catching and supporting women who are due the same date as Reid was due.
Gosh it hurts when with each baby I see born its a reality check that I dont get to hold Reid in my arms.
It the breastfeeding part that gets me the most.
Obviously I'm never rude or bitter anything like that towards these women and in all honesty the emotion of it isn't overcoming me, it just hurts.
I'm hiding in my room with the curtains drawn and a shyte load of chocolates today.

Must be so very hard Sara. But most of all hold close the thought that Reid would want you to fulfil you dream of being a MW! He's right there with you, oh so proud of the difference you are making in so many women's lives.
Little Reid your mumma needs you now more than ever. Stay close to her and look after her while she makes huge steps to make a real difference to birthing history in Australia!
