Hi everyone im am around 5 weeks pregnant and had my hcg levels tested and they are only 74 i am going in for another blood test in days. The drs are saying that it is very low so i shouldnt get too excited at the moment. Has ayone had the same thing happen and was everything okay?

Could you have your ovulation date wrong maybe? Everyone is different so I hope your bubba is ok and your numbers are doubling.
Mine was a lot lower than when I got a bt. Maybe you are later than you thought? Good luck
Are you sure of your dates? If you are sure, then that is quite low and your Dr is right to say not to get excited. But if there is a chance that your dates were wrong, then that's a valid early pg hcg. FX for you.
I'm with the others hon, it depends if you are sure of ovulation date. If you ovulated late (say day 20) then that might be OK. My first bt with this pregnancy was 44 but that would have been about 4 weeks 2 days pregnant. It had more than doubled two days later. If you are sure of dates though then that is quite low for 5 weeks. Good luck. I will keep everything crossed that you get good doubling!!!
Thanks everyone for your kind words, not sure about my dates i guess i could of ovulated later then what i thought. Well i hope so. I did another preg test this morning and the red line was alot darker than all the other times i have done the test, so fingers crossed i am earlier and bubs is going to be ok! it is so hard waiting around wondering whats going to happen if bubs is ok and what should i be doing to help makes things better. I hate this waiting game.

That's a good sign. My tests were super faint until the one I took on the day I did my repeat bt. It was a lot darker and then we found that my HCG had almost tripled! I'll be waiting for the results tomorrow. Good luck honey
That is a great sign. Increasing HCG is usually good :). Best of luck with it.

Ok so i had my bt this morning they tested for HCG and Progesterone. My results for HCG are 244 but i am still waiting for the Progestorone. I guess at least the HCG levels are going up not doubling though. Is this okay or could this mean this is not a viable pregnancy i have read where levels should be alot higher and should of gone up alot more? I get the results 2mrw morning so i guess we will go from there.

The numbers look good to me hon!! They are supposed to double every 24-48 hours and yours have tripled in 48 hours!! Mine went from 44 to 124 in 48 hours and I'm now 30 weeks!!

Ok so the Dr called this morning and told me my Progesterone levels where a little low 81.3 and they were hoping for it to be around 100. So i am now taking progesterone pessaries every night for 14 days. has anyone had this happen to them and if so what happened. Im not to be excited we are pregnant or to not try and get our hopes up!

I have been on pessaries for last one and this one.. i started on a 200mg, then doubled, and doubled again as my levels were not coming up enough. i stayed on them till over 12w.. The results of my first pessary pregnancy is currently smearing dessert over the table :-) this one is doing well too.
Me too! Pessaries for number one, didn't need them this time. Number one is the reason I was up at 5.30 this morning! Also- I only had my progesterone tested once this pregnancy at 4w 4 d and it was only 64. Try and relax. YOU ARE PREGNANT!!!! Remember the motto PUPO- Pregnant Until Proven Otherwise!!!! Congratulations!!
Thanks Yeah i know i need to relax just wish it would run along smoothly. With my daughter we had such a hard time pretty much until she was born with complications and i guess having 2 previous miscarriages i never seem to be able to enjoy and relaxing during our pregnancies!

Recently knew a girl who went through HCG levels not doubling as they should. Her P4 was never tested, she is however half way to meeting her bub :) didnt know it was possible but apparenlty it is!:

Hi everyone so i went for my scan today and bubs only measured 6w and i am prob at least 7w, not sure what this all means heartbeat was 162bpm. Going in for another scan next week, not sure what tp expect the dr didnt seem to say much! Does anyone have any advise?? xxoo

I dont have any experience with this but, babies at this stage are soooo small.... if the sonographer was even one mm out, and you have a small baby, this could be right, and baby is fine!
I know its hard not to worry and over analyse...... I know I probably would!
The table on page 4 of this http://www.bmus.org/policies-guides/...61_ultBMUS.pdf shows what the dr's use..... If your dr didnt seemed concerned, I dont think you should be too worried (again easier said than done :lol: ) That heart rate is good for that age!

Hi there, I'm going through a similar thing - I'm onto my 4th pregnancy in 12 months and while my 14dpo numbers were really good (204) in 48 hours they've only gone to 331 - I'm on 3 prog pessaries a day because even on 2 it was low but that has gone from 40 to 87 in the 48 hours. Everything I read on the net says 48-72 hour doubling is totally normal (which mine has) yet the nurse at the fert clinic said it's not looking too promising. I don't know who/what to believe. How have things panned out for you? My last pregnancy I was measuring over a week behind for dates with low to start/rise HCG numbers but I was certain of my dates as I'm doing fertility treatment. Hoping everything is going well for you.
Hi Alison, we are going well i think going in for a scan 2mrw so hopefully is going along ok. I had a scan done 2 weeks ago and bubs was almost a week behind but the Dr was not too worried.
With our HCG levels mine were not very high at all in the first few weeks i was also told things didnt look so good, my levels never seemed to double as what they say they should im not sure if it means bubs isnt very strong or just the levels are not high this time. When i was pregnant with my daughter the hcg levels were very high. So i am not sure what to say but at the moment bubs is doing well and 2mrw hopefully will be good news. i will let you know when i get back from the scan.
I stressed and worried but theres not much we can do, its a terrible waiting game.
When my levels at the start were not high the Dr did put me on Progesterone for 2 weeks, so maybe you could ask ur Dr if they would consider putting u on those tablets. The progesterone to my understanding does not stop a misscarrige but it makes or helps the pregnancy and makes it stronger.
Anyway hope this has helped a little, good luck. When do you go in for your next blood test?

Hi My Angels - congrats, I'm so pleased things are working out for you, good luck with your scan and definitely let me know how it goes, the heart rate sounds amazing. My last pregnancy back in Dec/Jan I went for my 7 week scan to be told I was measuring a week behind, but becaue I'm having fertility treatment they were 100% certain of my dates so it shouldn't have been out, also bubs hr was only 51bpm - it never improved and sadly a week later bub passed.
AFM - the nurse today was much more positive, my levels have gone up from 331 to 612, so not quite doubled in 48 hours but she said as long as it either goes up 60% in 48 hours, or doubled in 72 hours then they're happy with that. Mine has gone up 85% so I have to be happy with that. I am already on progesterone suppositories, my whole problem is I have a luteal phase defect and my body just does not produce anywhere near enough progesterone on its own, I was on twice daily but they've upped it to 3 times now. My only concern now is stupid me forgot my suppository last night before bed - I think I was too stressed to remember anything, now I'm supposed to be on 3 I'm still getting into a routine on the 3rd, anyway my prog has dropped from 87 to 35. She said it will pick up again today but not to forget again as they like numbers to be at least 60 - has anyone any experience with this? Will they pick up pretty well straight away? Now I'm worried about those and my next test isnt until Thursday. Goodness does the worry ever end?? Thank you all for your support, it means A LOT! The numbers are so stressful! I hope you manage to get some rest despite the stress. FWIW, my progesterone at 5w with DD1 was 26.
